I'm telling you guys that the installer will not let you burn an ISO image. Seriously do I need to post a video of the install process that I am going through? I downloaded the Windows 8 upgrade assistant. Purchased Windows 8. Used the link in the email I got from Microsoft to download the Windows 8 installer. No where and at no time was I offered the option to stop and save the image of Windows 8 to a USB drive or DVD disc. The installer wanted to install Windows 8 on the spot. So I gues
Can anyone confirm for sure that you can burn an installation disk during the digital purchase/download? 'Cause that's what I need. I don't want to be required to install Win8 at the time of the download.
I can confirm that there is no option to burn to a DVD. At least that's what is happening to me. It wants to do a install right after download, no option for anything else. I told the installer to install without back
My copy is a digital download and I had no issues doing a clean install. When you downloaded and started the install of Win 8 there should be a option to install by creating media.
I get NO such option when I run the install I downloaded from Microsoft.
No you should not need to purchase an install disc. I believe (I could be wrong) the install file is an .ISO and you could burn it to a disc (using one of the existing Win8 installations since they easily handle burning of ISO files built right into the OS) and then use that disc on your hubby's machine. Like I already said, I ONLY do clean OS installs. I have never done an 'upgrade' install (at least not on my own machines)
No worries, we all make mistakes!
Thanks Wizard. I appreciate it.
Doortech - The monitor showed up today.. The eBay listing on the receipt said it is a 15" monitor with VGA and power cords. All the seller sent was just the monitor, no cables. I have a power cable for the monitor, just no VGA cable. Nothing else has shown up yet. :(
You would think the phone companies would help out in that kind of situation. But they don't. It's all about the money to them. They are cold and heartless.
What if the person who at first gets the phone on good credit, has it for 6 months, than loses his job? He has no income so he can't pay the early termination bill. And the phone company still does not want the phone back. They do investigate fraud here, and it is punishable by law with a fine and jail time but they don't consider not paying a bill to be fraud. It's simply a matter of the unpaid and defaulted bill going to collections. All they can do then is garnish 5 to
not paying the termination fee is serious though. hard to believe such habits will not end up in a database and sooner or later you won't get credit anyware. might even end up in jail if a debt collector chooses to use the justice system.
Not possible. There is no debtors prison here in America. You can't go to jail for owing a debt.As for a database that would keep track of those that default and do not pay their termination
Well that still will not stop people from taking that phone to another carrier and having it flashed over to their service. It happens frequently around here. I don't think this law will stop it. I will make jailbreaking a phone illegal, but it will not stop people from jailbreaking phones.
That's because they charge you for a early termination fee.
What if you don't pay the early termination fee? All they can do is send you to collections and even then they can't get money out of you if you don't want to pay. And then they still don't care what happens to the phone. You could have it flashed to another carrier and go about your business.
Well I put a bit of the new computer together tonight. I sorted through the PSU wires and organized them with zip ties for the best possible air flow and arrangement. I took the DVD-RW drive out of the old computer since it wasn't working under Windows there anyhow and installed it in the case. I also spent a good 20 minutes installing the I/O shield. It just didn't want to fit.
Except if you default on the service contact they let you keep the phones and don't really care what you do with them.
Nope. Not until you fulfill all the purchase contract terms. Until then, it isn't. Please don't argue. It's the law, not what you might think the law "should" be.
Is this not a debate? Are we not allowed anymore to state our opinions? I'm kinda confused here. As far as this issue is concerned I think once you buy the phone it's yours to do with as you please. Good luck enforcing that law when we have bigge
When you buy 'stuff' some of it has restrictions on its use. You CANNOT do whatever you like with it....
I'm going to have to disagree with that one Jafo. Once you pay money for something it becomes yours.
I wonder how many signatures they have now. Last I saw a petition needs 250,000 of 'em to even be considered by the White House. I doubt very much it'll even get that many.
84K so far.
Looks like it's due here on Monday, thanks. :)
Agreed. I haven't done the eBay thing in years.
Good luck upholding that law. Much like MP3 sharing on the internet the number of those that jailbreak phones is so large that curbing the issue would prove to be pointless. People can be fined, but those people can refuse to pay and we only have so much jail space.
Seller should have sent you an email when he shipped it. Did you tell him to ship it to me or is it on it's way to you?
Thank you Wizard. Good to know. :)
Ok I got in the extra two sticks of DDR2 memory today. I am still waiting on the CPU, video card, and monitor. Any word on a ETA on those things guys?
Well I got the case, mobo, and CPU fan in today. The case is quite nice, small but plenty of room inside. Looks like I will have no issues with system cooling, plenty of vents. Looks like I will have to use a few zip ties with the cable routing. Still waiting on everything else. Should come in next week. Thanks guys!
