Try working on a non-trade based empire an you can easily leave the UP without consequence. Focus on military production and monopolize economy boosting resources. Worked for me. ;)

Once upon a time I was 'close' to the Altarian republic, gave them Alliance technology, and I still couldn`t choose to ally myself with them. :notsure:
Just my 2 cents.. There should be a maximum population limit for planets, but it should be very high as to be almost unreachable. Combined with this there should be a new social policy slider for 'optimal population'. And on top of that maybe put in some new euthinasia/birth control techs. Like the other guy said 'there must have been a session of the UP where they outlawed birth control that I missed' LOL
They`re always the first on the list. Actually I`ve found some good picks to be helpful, like the ones that stunt population growth. That helps with your morale. If the good pick is too horrible than you can usually do with the second, neutral, pick.
Start making 'good' ethical decisions at the random events. They`re the ones that feel like pulling teeth and have the effect of shooting yourself in the leg.. cutting off your nose to spite your face.
It doesn`t seem to work for me. Every time I set it and leave the screen, then return, it is back to zero. Is this a bug? Also a suggestion - make propaganda an empire wide thing, with the ability to intensify it on local levels.
How about changing 'guard' to 'never wake guard'. I like sitting defenders on top of space stations but they keep waking when the enemy nears. They`re just there to soak up damage! Why do they keep bothering me?! LOL
Try being the populist party, and when random events come up that take away from pop growth choose them.
post script - It was actually a medium galaxy, and I did finally win through cultural domination. LOL
In a recent game the Fundamentalists appeared in their crusade to 'kill all things evil'. With this 2 Drenigin worlds and 1 Yor world defected, killing both those empires as it was a small galaxy (although the last Yor world kind of hung around, but they were essentially dead). They also got a huge tech lead. They were far ahead of me, and doubly far ahead of the other AIs. They were also gifted with the dreaded 'minor race' uber economy. And finally on top of all this their '
I don`t know what you`re bug is but I`m sure it isn`t related to winning through cultural victory. I`ve done so twice. It must be something else.
er... bug
Also.. the aliens seem to ally with themselves occasionally. This is a bud I suspect.
I`ve changed my opinion on minor races. They`re overpowered in the early game, decent in the mid game, and a push over in the late game. They just don`t scale with the changing enviroment of the game.. not to say that it is a bad thing. :D I find that minor races are equal to major empires with 3 or 4 good planets.
When I look into the stats of the alien empires they always seem to be at war with the 'Bulea' & 'Pirates'.. who are these people? I can guess what pirates are but they don`t seem to be represented by actual ships or colonies..
Here is a suggestion - diplomatic tonality. I don`t like the fact that when I just ask for something from my ally it is a demand. I really just want to ask, not demand it. Demanding it seems to piss them off. They request things from me.. why I can I of them? "We need help.. someone is killing us..!"
My long time friends, the Arceans, slowly turned on me as they picked off other civilizations one by one. I was not in a good starting position so I couldn`t start to build up myself (although in retrospect maybe I could). I just sat out the game building a trade empire and watching how things progressed. In the end the Arceans defeated all other major races, minor races, and monsters.. except for me. The fact that we had been 'close' since early in the game started to mean very little
How about this - Its September 2183 and the Carinoids already have two unique trade goods and a manufacturing capital. BS!
..and I just don`t like the Independent League.. so yes, they must die. LOL
..The problem here being that they build all the wonders and trade goods before anybody else has a chance.
Lol.. bread & circuses is it? :CONGRAT:
Like the title of this topic says 'renaming individual planets'. Frogboy said it`d be in the bonus pack. Where is it? :notsure:
..or better yet make it show both percentage and bc, but make it so that you alter bc spent and not percentage of your income or whatever.
Difficulty slider for minor races.. Change sliders that represent percentages to percentages instead of 'bc'. For example I was spending about 5bc on spying one turn, then I got several some tribute and that the spying sum jumped to 47bc..
There needs to be a minor race difficulty slider or something. I`m playing on beginner level and the Carinoids always clean up the wonders & trade goods and build indestructable, uber-fortress systems with huge armadas.. blah.
