I think something interesting that could add a lot to the game are nebulas. They could be randomly generated on the map and have different properties. Examples 1)lower the defense rating of ships while they are in it 2)subtract hit points while a ship is moving through it 3)lower the scan range on ships in it 4)hide planets that could be 'detected' once better sensors are researched. 5)terror star has a chance to create one when used I think they would add(more

Well I would agree that one big file would be easier, but I was thinking for people that are bandwidth limited it might make sense. Remember without stardock people will have to have their own download manager, or some people's download might get cut off, causing them to have to download the whole thing again. (:(

I usually buy(or lease) at least one extra colony ship right off the bat, and have my 2 new colonies build colony ships until I have 4~5 in a stockpile.

Early in the game you need to put them in orbit for them to repair. Later you can build starbases that have a repair facility that repair all the ships in a sector... also there are varying levels of ship techs you can research to have them repair themselves over time.

It automatically ends the turn if there are no more ships waiting to move(ie not in orbit, or with orders). I agree though, this might be a nice feature in a later release.

I think it just means that you're computer will finish processing the AI's moves before Bob's, which in turn means that when it's the computers turn, all it has to do is execute the plan. Bob's still might have some processing to do, so it might take a little longer for the AI to move.

I had a chance to play one game last night and was doing pretty good until the Drengin decided to wipe me out of the galaxy. I was able to hold on for a little by using diplomacy to get the other races to declare war on them(except the torians, jerks!), and the minors gave me ships. But after they invaded Sol... game over man! Had fun though :)

no multiplayer... but extensive testing, and good programming, have created an AI that is just as good. Also you will be able to download updates from the metaverse to the AI to have it play more "human".

umm ok... :D just install the .99a version of startdock central released last night and restart you're computer... that will definately fix you, I mean fix you're problem! :D

Brad, just a suggestion. It might make sence to make zip files of these boot files for different OS's for people to download and copy in their C:\ before they restart. People should check to see if they have these files before they restart, because you won't notice the problem until you do. Most people will have windows installed to the same spot, C:\winnt.

Slapbone -- They should be in the root of you're boot drive, usually c:\, they are hidden and system files so you need to make sure that you can see them. Also since I think you said you have a second XP machine, you might want to try and make a restore disk from it(look in help, I don't have XP) and use it with you XP disk on the down machine.

Yeah, after all we ARE beta testers!!!! haha In all seriousness(I can't spell:) though, I've lurked for a while before today and I've seen the way that the development team interacts with the community and it's great, I don't think I've ever seen that before. I know I would have been upset if I didn't think that the developers cared. Kudos, and keep up the good work! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:

Do you have a restore disk SlapBone? If not, if you can get access to another xp machine you can copy the ntldr, ntdetect.com, and boot.ini files from it and it should work.(I think that those are the files you need to boot) -Zac
