What do you do in the early game when the space sharks are running around. Last night in my first gold game, I selected a merchant organization and was busy setting up my commerce empire when the first space shark appeared. They are pretty tough to beat when you only have defenders. Then the intergalactic zoo let three more out. When the four of them killed all of my trade routes and destroyed all of my ships and space stations, I stopped the game. :notsure: What can you do early on

I wondered the same thing. Very early on in the beta and final, the minor civs have pretty high tech weapondry. I am guessing that this is necessary to keep them alive, since the only reason that I noticed their ship status was that I wanted to take all their planets. LOL
