Yeah it's a laptop. Toshiba Satilite 1400 S-151, got it on '02. I went to the Toshiba website and the most recent driver I could find was from '02. I also googled for a couple hours looking for drivers but didn't turn up anything better. Hello. Yet another can't get it to work post. I've been fiddling with it for a while now and it still crashing when I create a new game, after the choose opponents screen. I've read through the posts here and I have Dx 9.0c, I have the multimedia installed and I've tried to find the latest drivers for my vid card. :notsure: I was always under the impression that planetary defense was to help ships, like planeary missile bases/shields/fighters something like that. If it helps ground troops, well frankly if it gets to the point where a transport gets through there is little that will stop the planet from being taken, whether it be soldiering bonus, tech, anything. I think I have seem maybe one or two failed invasions, and the planet fell the next turn anyway. I think that planetary defenses should

I thought it was great! I want the next one to come out already. I missed some of my fav characters (Gambit, Beast) they were mentioned in the background, but oh well maybe later. As for kids, there's a lot of violence, not much blood. Wolverine stabs a lot of people, Pyro blows stuff up, but it's all in a comic book sort of way so yeh. And now that starfighters have been upgraded aren't they basicaly the same as a corvette? The corvette just has +2hp and +1 defense. And corvette technology is a dead end tech. What's the point of reseaching it now? Corvettes just don't seem like they're worthwhile anymore.

I find that it is not worth the resources spent on constructors to build up defense once you get past the frigate stage. Dreadnaughts eat through starbases, even fully upgraded. It would be cheaper to stack some ships on top of the starbase instead of building five constructors for defense. That's quite a bit of resouces right there, especially with increased constructor costs. I use starbases almost exclusively for mining resouces until late game when I don't have much else to build.

iirc HP aren't taken into account on the military power graph, just attack rating. So for games where you are avoiding war it's rather useless. I've had games where I have not fired a single shot. The +50% hp would have done nothing for me. But if you are going for the warpath it is a pretty good pick, though IMHO all the parties are equally good.

I was always under the impression that the ai had a complete map of the universe. That they could not only see all the yellow stars, but the resources, anomolies, etc. on account that they were in space long before the humans and have everything all mapped out. But yeh, the crazyness with the torian constructors is crazy, especially w/ the increaded cost, I just can't keep up.

I've played games where I have not fired a single shot, nor had one fired at me. It is possible! Just grab a bunch of planets in the beggining, grab resources, then use diplomacy to keep others off your back. It helps to pit the others against eachother, fueling them w/ techs and ships, in return for money of course! And watch the resources that are grabbed by others, if their starbase falls, grab it. It is definatly possible, just watch out and make sure noone gets to

Toaddog: earlier you said you were just about finished with the game, but you obviously have much more to discover. You just said that you've uncovered a new end movie. There are several more out there and unless you have been playing unsubmitted games you have still not encounted the higher AI difficulties and all the other end movies (beyond human is my fav ;) ).
