Yea, I gotta say, I don't know where all the bugs are coming from. I haven't had a CTD once and I'm playing on a less-than-gaming-optimal laptop...

Hmmm...that's odd, because not only does my survey ship shut off "Auto-Survey" if it can't see any more anomalies, but I've seen the AI scout it's butt off with scout ships before it sends colony ships. Those scout ships seem to move around pretty fast. Isn't it possible you are missing the AI's ships? Or more likely, that the AI is sending a ship to every star system? Frankly, I don't know why I should believe your rather strange test
That would be one of those "easy tweaks" that would make the game better for me...
I use both.
There is the broader problem of AI's simply not utilizing their planets well either.
Iconians also start on a Class 15 world.
Yes, I have noticed that. That's definitely a fix in the making.
Yes, I'd like to add that the ability to mess with the AI's ships is really bad. I'm betting it has something to do with some sort of debugger or cheat code that got left in. It doesn't really affect gameplay if you ignore it, so it's more of a "polish" thing, but I would like all the exploits gone.
Another work around to remove parts is to select the part ON THE SHIP model itself and then click remove. That solves the bug of it remaining in the ship design boxes too.
Ummm, websaber? Have you played the game a significant amount? Because I would not expect a comment like that from someone experienced with logistics. Logistics is HUGE. It determines the maximum fleet size an empire can maintain. If you have 2 fleets of 2 ships vs 1 fleet of 4 ships, you will probably lose assuming similar tech. (Yes, at a certain tech differential, it doesn't matter, but that's irrelevant.) Getting ahead in Logistics is an eno
Which, by the way, is what smart human players will do too. If you wait to build a colony ship until you find a good planet, you're gonna be too late. Scouting with yoru colony ship is a very important strategy when expanding.
Well I've told everyone I know in real-life and online that GalCiv2 is incredible. So, maybe word-of-mouth, yea.
Bug Report: I'm playing on one level below Intelligent (Bright, I think) and the alien civs for the most part (there are some exceptions) aren't using their planets well at all. Many of them having few buildings built and most are highly underutilized (especially these Class 14+ gems that have 2-3 buildings). This is a pretty important issue because it speaks to the quality of the AI. If the AI can't develop it's worlds properly, then i
This REALLY needs to be addressed. Like ASAP. By someone.
I have a feeling there is a bug there. It's not really that surprising. When you work on a game like this for 2 years, you sort of get a tunnel vision. It may not have occured to anyone to even look and see if you COULD rename enemy planets and systems. Personally, I hope they fix it, because it kind of bugs me, but it's not a huge, huge deal.
If it hasn't already been mentioned, the ability to delcare war formally would be nice withotu having to attack a ship.
Yea, most of those specialty stores in my area carry mostly console games. The PC section is a pale reflection of what it once was. Oh, for the days of Babbages...
UI: I'd like the tooltips (well, the mouse-overs that appear for Influence and Approval) cleand up a bit. They are difficult to read sometimes. Bug Fix: Whenever I select an AI starship, the interface that appears in the viewing area looks like mine (complete with blue color scheme). Furthermore, it has the "Upgrade" button, just disabled. If that's not a bug, then a tweak would be nice which gave a different viewing area when clicking o
Wow. The impatience of some people is astonishing. To TheMissingLink -- picking up EaW would be a tragedy. The game is poor, at best. I've read nothing but negative things about it (except for Tycho on PA, he seems to like it, which is unusual). GalCiv2 is a great, great game, and it WILL BE OUT THERE SOON. I'm STILL waiting for my 360, but it's ok. There are other things to do while waiting than complaining that you don't have the game yet. <b
You know, I can't believe the criticism I'm hearing of Stardock here. Stardock is a tiny company (in the scheme of things) and they made a decision based upon what they thought reasonable demand would be. The fact that demand way outstripped supply is amazing for them, but it is not their fault. Why don't the complainers take a look at what happened with the Xbox 360. Microsoft is the polar opposite of Stardock in terms of size and money and power. Yet my friend pre-ordered his Xbox in the
I thought you couldn't do that with stock ships? Is that a new feature?
THe campaign game uses different rules than the sandbox mode. Certain techs are locked out and everything is done on purpose. Hope that answers your question!
You need to research and build an Orbital Fleet Manager. That'll fix yer problem right up well and good, (hyuk).
No. The game is great as it is. All the "bugs" are minor and the improvements are just that. GalCiv2 isn't perfect true, but it's as close as you can come. I wouldn't wait a minute.
No time to read all the bug reports, but I wanted to make sure someone was aware that I can't adjust the Technology when customizing my race. I usually play as Terrans, and that may be why (they don't really get starting tech), but I'm not 100% sure. I haven't tried playing as anyone else yet, though.
