Works fine for me. Note that the game does NOT "round up". So to get a Move=2 ship (Colony, Surveyor) upgraded to Move=3, you need to spend 5 points (equalling 50%) on the ability. Spend 4 points and it'll stay at move=2. 2 x 1.5 = 3.0 = you get move of 3 2 x 1.4 = 2.8 = move score REMAINS at 2 It looks like that's just how its supposed to be.

From observation, it's quite obvious that sector sweep is sort of a "patrol" maneuvre where it travels around the perimeter of the sector. I find this useful because its a simple way of amplifying your sensor range, rather than keeping the ship asleep in the middle of the sector. However, I've always disabled Sector Sweep before getting into a war situation so I don't know how such a ship responds to an incoming enemy.

I liked listening to all my Delerium albums during 8-hour Civ3 sessions, so I'm trying that again with GalCiv. If I feel myself going to sleep (since I usually play from 10pm to 6am - don't ask) I switch the music to something harder, like drum 'n bass.

Severity: Medium Type: Hard Crash to Desktop Game Functionality Affected: Trade Route This is what happens. Looking at my TRADE ROUTE screen, I see one of my trade route reads "N/A" for value. Whereas the others read 7bc, 10bc, 30bc, etc. I look back on the starmap and I see that the "mini-freighter" for that particular route isn't really moving anywhere; its been sitting on the same parsec for the past couple of turns. In fact, there's another mini-freighter right beside it wit

Nomikos, One of the other AIs could be trying to destabilize you. And to solve the overpopulation problem, some people suggested loading excess people into colony ships and sending them off into space. I wonder what happens to those people if you disband a full colony ship while its in space... mwahahahaha

Those little squares that make up sectors are parsecs! The ones you move your ships around in (each ship takes up 1 parsec).

Quoting #16 by Citizen Mr. Lucky - 3/27/2003 11:14:03 AM > "Are you spending on propaganda on each planet? Once I discovered that, it helped my morale issues immensely. I leave all my planets maxed on propaganda now." The problem I have with propoganda is that it's inconvenient. It resets after each turn. A real pain in the ass. :notsure:

Captain Bizarre, Thanks for echoing my thoughts on the lack of the Trade Embargo feature. If they removed it from the final build, I hope they put it back in a future build.

Here is a MINOR bug I'd like to report. It's related to the DIPLOMACY screen. I start a chat with Altarians. I ask them to Make Peace... . They say NO. So I click the entry to "send it back to the top". But that entry was never removed from the list of selections... so now there's 2 "Make Peace..." entries for them. If I keep doing this over and over again, I can add more bogus entries. For fear of the game crashing at this point, I did not try after three!

> Did your trade route get attacked? I've noticed that my trade routes will get attack, and a dialog pops up Nope. This happened quite early in the game, before the AI went around rampantly attacking trade routes. :P I did eventually see that dialog your referring to, but that was about 10 years down the road, when 2 of the AIs got into a fight and started taking out each others routes... but never any of MY routes (i.e. the ones that *I* initiate).

Quoting from the online docs: "Additionally, you will also be able to turn on and off trade embargos. If you don’t want a particular civilization trading with you, then you can keep them from doing so. When you trade with a particular civilization, it gains just as much from the trade route as you do." This is talking about the TRADE tab on the DOMESTIC POLICY screen. I see no button that says "Embargo this guy!", so how do I embargo someone? BTW I hope you aren't refe

Interesting. Say, is it possible to use colony ships as a sort of way of "mass deporting" large segments of the population to another already-conquered/controlled planet? Like, I have PLANET-1 with 10 billion people. And PLANET-2 with 1 billion people. And I want to move 3 billion from PLANET-1 to PLANET-2. Can Colony Ships be used to do that?

1. Every single planet has soil enhance+habitat improv. 50% of my planets have EntNetwork. All of my planets are Class-16 or higher except for one which is 15. Three of them are 21+ but they still have low morale ratings, and these are usually also the ones with a high morale modifier due to improvements (30%+) :notsure: 2. Maybe I'm dumb, but I'm not sure what you mean. So I'll just tell you more about my financial situation. Each turn I either break even or get a small amoun

My feeling is that its very similar to "Mutual Protection Pact" in Civ3, except with the additional bonus is that it can be used as a mechanism for victory, unlike Civ3's MPP. Also unlike Civ3, you have to be very good friends with the target civ to have the option, whereas in Civ3 you could just "buy" them to your side. Sorry for the Civ3 comparison, thats the only other turn-based strategy game I've played recently.

I want to tell you guys about a strange "game behaviour" that I've noticed which may or may not be intentional (only a developer can answer that). Basically, to keep my average approval rating at 45% or higher, EVERY MONTH I have to reduce my tax rate, by at least 1%. Its been like that for the past year at least (that I can remember). Right now I'm at 22% tax rate, I figure if this keeps up forever, eventually I won't be able to charge any tax! If I leave my tax rate frozen, each month

There appears to be a bug involving Trade Routes. I am a Technologist. So I should just have the base 3 trade routes, right? However I researched that tech which gives me +1 extra trade route. "Advanced Trading" or something? All i know is one of the benefits read "Trade Routes +1". Anyways, I am still only capable of having THREE trade routes! This is annoying because I can plainly see the Altarians having FOUR trade routes! For the record, I believe that before I researched t
