Hi! When I've been playing the campaign, that mission ended whne one of my survey ships accidently entered that sector. Perhaps game needs a new (not a starting) ship in that sector? So I suggest you to send there more ships, and make them go all across the lower edge of the galaxy. BTW did you meet with the Korx? That could also be one of conditions to end the game. BR, Iztok

Hi!
The ONLY thing I'm still not understanding is the morale of this game.
You'r not the only one. I took four expert players to figure out the working of morale (check [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=357&aid=148993"]NLC's and Industrial Sectors broke my economy[/link]. The thread very soon develops into morale calculation method). Up to now I didn't collect enough patience to put that knowldge into one comprehensive article. But in short: There's
Hi!
magically and instantly discovering your undefended planets
That's not cheating. When you discover a planet, you can see it through a fog of war until the end of the game, and so can the AI, at least in DL and DA it works that way.
Playing as the Drath, for my second game in TA, on beginners difficulty

(the Torians) they're FAR too efficient. ... Funny thing, they actually started kicking my butt real good. ...I fou
Hi!
True though, that the wiki should get a good and recent overall editing session.
You know the Nike slogan: Just do it. ;) But please be carefull. Test data carefully before posting. Also, currently there are two operational versions of the game (DA and DL), and even within them there has been a lot of changes. You need to decide what of all that you'll cover. BR, Iztok
Hi! After several years I decided to play again the first GalCiv (not for OS/2, that game I couldn't made run). So I created an archive with SDC, copied that archive to my old portable (no way it can run GalCiv-2 with its 4 MB graphics card :( ), installed it with SCD, and started a large game. After some time I noticed a strange thing: there's NO EFFECT from my econ- and morale-mining starbase on my empire. There's also NO EFFECT from ANY morale or econ "wonder" I've built or bought. To tes
Hi!
the thing I want is some good hard numbers
Check wiki page on GalCiv-2:[link="https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Galactic_Civilizations_Wiki"]Galactic Civilizations Wiki[/link]. I've updated quite some "hard numbers" there. However you need to be avare that those numbers and formulas are from testbed games under "controled" conditions. GalCiv is so intertvined internally that those hard numbers aren't valid for every situation that can pop-up in your game. Every now and
Hi!
Who would win in a battle between Lord Kona, Darth Vader and Kane.
Me. I kicked their asses in way too many games to have respect for any of them. BR, Iztok
Hi!
An ally:
For me the biggest bonus is I don't need to eliminate him to finish the game. BR, Iztok
Hi!
I think there must be a reliable method for buttressing one's capital early-game, in order to cope with an aggressive expansion policy. ... What's a good way of getting around this?
I did some testing in this problem (check [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=357&aid=162906&p=1#1321753"]Playing with lots of planets - how to financially survive first year?[/link]). In DA is the easiest way to play as a Super Breeder, and hold approval on most planets at 1
Hi!
but I upgraded them all every time I could.
Err, when I upgrade them, it most of the time takes 4 turns to do that. So I usually do that only once in a game, when I've taken most anomalies in range. While there's still a lot of anomalies, I can't afford to have surweyers off-line for so long. I have to compete with ships that have 60% better miniaturization than I have.
I grab an average of 3 anomalies a turn every turn of the game now that
Hi!
total mp vs. actual mp??
For quite detailed explanation of production check forums here: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=346&aid=152796"]Production explained - how various bonuses apply[/link]. Hi!
it really **IS** complex.
This would work, if a player could expect to get up to 20 planets in a game. But with several hundreds of planets he can get in an all-abundant large+ game, this would simply turn into a MM nightmare, or even an unplayable game. But what I'd immediately sign is a hexagonal grid of the galaxy, instead of the current square grid. BR, Iztok
Hi!
in GC the survey ship started out at 1/1 i think.
IIRC it started at 0/1. But when it got an anomaly with weapons increase, I usually used it (and the fighter that also came out of some asteroids) as a deterrent of early colonizers of the nearby AI, to shut down its colony drive and took these planets for myself. Very powerfull tactics. I'm glad it's not possible in GC-2.
AI really needs to build survey vessles
It does. I've seen some: small
Hi!
If you can produce 10 battleships on the average turn, and another race can produce 1 or 2, it won't matter who has the best tech, there is no way they can ever pose a credable threat.
Last words of many many AIs in my games. In my DA games I rely heavily on defenses, so in early an mid game ONE of my ships usually destroys several FLEETS of AIs' ships, before I need to retreat it for repairs. In this gam
Hi!
if you dont buy colony ships and wait for them to build, by the time you get 1st one launched all of the planets would be taken. of course ive only played on either tiny or small maps, but im curious does it get easier on bigger maps?
What you forget to mention is at what difficulty level you're playing. There's HUGE difference among them (check wiki: [link="https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Difficulty_level"]Difficulty level[/link]), that will have immense impact on
Hi! I remember you complainig about the game some months ago ( [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=347&aid=147682#1171409"]I don't think I am cut out for this type of game[/link] ), so it seems to me it's not the game, it's you who has the problem. Like others wrote, it's just not your coup of tea. Please don't spit all over it because of that. Nobody forces you to play it, does he? BR, Iztok
Hi!
This nearly-all defense approach can easily be countered with the appropriate weapons.
True, but AI in DA was not able to counter it fast enough to survive an attack with such ships with proper defense. Just imagine what would happen with you if Terrans would use point-defenses instead of shields... I'm really glad to hear the AI is finally able to employ such a tactics. What it needs now is the
Hi!
But then who are you buying the ships FROM?
From himself. What's 40k BCs for a fully-blown dreadnaught when you earn 1,500k BC each turn? Don't be concerned with such trivialities as is the Real Life. This is a game, that can be played many ways, buying the universe being only one. BR, Iztok
Yes. BR, Iztok
Hi!
10 possible Negative Factors.
Humm, I miss the "They don't trust us". Will correct the wiki. I also remeber seeing a + for recent help or gift or something similar. I can't check currently. BR, Iztok
Hi!
How do you use -your- High-Class Planets?
It entirely depends on the game situation: what special tiles it has, what bonuses, how many other habitable planets are close, how many habitable planets I can expect to get, what will be my econ... IMO very big planets are especially good for making money, because you can afford on them two farms (making pop bigger --> making base tax revenue bigger), and each market you put on it multiplies that bigger base revenue
Hi!
Not sure I totally buy this. I'm not saying that this isn't true but there are ways around this that don't really require you to get a sum of all Relation Factors of seven (as mentioned in the Wiki article) to get to close.
I'm nitpicking now, but please note I didn't wrote you need 7 pluses and you'll have an alliance. From my experience the "7 plused for aliance" is not correct, as I'd say I quite often had more, and no minuses, but was only at friendy. Might
Hi!
1.) Is there an easy way to find out which planets have which bonuses from the ethical choices?
On a colony management window you can click on planet details button, and then "scroll" through your planets by clicking "previous/next" to see planet's stats. The best way to remember what stats planet got at colonyzing is you rename it: if "Wardell II" got +45% to ships you rename it to "Wardel II +45% ship".
The starship bonus grants the given %
Hi!
I wasnt aware that multiple trade routes with one civ had more of an effect than just one trade route. I thought it was just a "yes or no" sort of effect.
It seems to be a "true/false" switch, but with three states: "no trade" (no + in relations), "trade" (one + in relation), "big trade" (two ++). However the other side has one such a switch also on their side. Maybe that makes the second plus.
2)
Hi!
But MY computer isn't slow...is it?
I stepped off that train many years ago. Now I use computer that makes job done. Since I'm not playing FPSs anymore (comes with age ), that job consists of internet browsing, using some office programs, some coding in ancient comp languages and playing "evergreen" games. GalCiv-2 is by far marging the newest game on it, and Stars! the most played recently. I'd call myse
