Hi! Just lost to Thalran(sp??) ... Does anyone have any tips? Kick a.. early, kick fast! Take out the weakest neighbout in the shortest time possible (have enough troop transports and warships in position to take most of his empire in one-two turns). Consolidate gain and repeat the procedure, until you become so strong nobody can challenge you. Then end the game or play cat-'n-mouse if you wish. BR, Iztok

Hi! Do I pay 2bc for that finished ship or 200bc?? I can't check now, but what's lost is excess mil production. Redirected soc production is mil production. So I'm pretty sure 199BCs are paid and lost. > the Tech Capital did NOT increase my focused production I don't think this is a game glitch but a balancing issue. I think the reason the tech capital doesn't work like the manufacturing capital is because one prov

Hi! I added production from asteroid mines and penalities from extreme environments.: Production points from asteroid mines are added after all other calculations are done, and are not changed by any bonus. Focus transfers 1/4 of those points to research. Distribution to mil/soc queue is done with sliders. Player pays full amount of BCs for each point. Production on planets with Extreme environments is penalized: if player knows only one half of the extreme te

Hi! can anyone come up with different scenarios comparing eco buildings/farms/morale, all factories That depends mostly on how far up you can push your morale ability. In my recent suicidal game with rare planets and stars I couldn't get it much over 70% (no morale resource close), and I also didn't have free tiles (got only 3 planets, but was lucky, AIs mostly got 2) to build anything that was not utmost important. So I haven't built any farm, any moral

Hi! Could someone just please export their registry entries for GalCiv2 + DA Something like this? Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2] "Path"="D:\\Igre\\GALCIV\\GalCiv2\\GalCiv2" "Exe"="gc2launch.exe" "Version"="1.50.128" "Updated"="06/07/2007" "Type"="production" "VideoDriverTooOld"=dword:00000001 "Revision"="1.10[b].006" "CanUpgrade"="1"<br/

Hi! Arceans as Super Warrior sounded great. How exactly does it work? If your ships attack, then in only the first round of the battle opponent's destroyed ships don't fire back. You need LOTS of firepower for that trait to have some real value. Lots of FP means very strong weapons, and large fleets, and that means late game. You need to survive until then, or play evil and use Psionic Beam. BR, Iztok

Hi! You can freely invade special planets you haven't obtained the tech for, but you won't have any production until you do. True, however you'll have normal research output, and normal taxes and influence, and normal pop growth on that red-marked planet. The only thing you'll not have is production from factories. But you can still buy structures on that planet. And if there are some labs, and you're research heavy, you can have some production on that p

Hi! I tried to maximize my population Not a good idea. You need really high morale ability (200-300%) for that to be feasible. The rule of thumb for GC-2 is keep pop below 13B pop (Initial Colony + 1 farm) on planets above class 10, and 6B on smaller. If you can't have morale ability at least 100% (mine at least 1 morale resource and have most morale "wonders") don't research farming, but use only the Basic Farm. BR, Iztok

Hi! 8 NLC's are expensive, period. So are 5, which is about what you pay for the 700% bonus tile once it is built. Not correct. Bonus production from tile-bonuses is paid in full price. In your case a player would save only on the maintenace costs on 7 non-built NLCs. A short rule of thumb: building/tiles that boosts production on a single planet need full payment. BR, Iztok

Hi! The fleet you describe would have worked well against the primitive corvettes with light guns but would have failed against their larger ships with advanced missiles! I never claimed I'll attack his main warships with these fregates. They're a special counterdesign just for killing those weak gun-armed corvettes, and I usuall build only a few of them: 2-4. For killing his heavy-hitters I have another specialized medium/large hull, full of proper defe

Hi! Let's put it this way, I've been playing a game on huge, and by the time I got into my very first war, I was already my further than halfway through with most of the tech lines. Try these settings: huge galaxy (same tech speed factor as gigantic), slowest tech, rare or uncommon planets and stars, tight clusters. With ~3 planets per race you'll need really enormous time to do anything on higher tech levels: 15 turns to go from plasma-1 to plasma-2 is n

Hi! If your ship has laser1 and you research laser2, it automatically becomes laser2 on all your current ships Erm... I see a problem with this: the price of ships would change, and my carefuly adjusted production queue(s) would need constant readjustment to avoid waste and excessive production times. I'd rather see the design would upgrade automatically when I press Upgrade button in ship design window. When I've been creating my late-game huge ship

Hi! I keep seeing other civs make peace with them; That should be a game glitch. Nobody besides Korath should be able to make peace with them. However there's a solution a player reported: when he got a message someone made peace with DL, he CLICKED that message and was transferred to the diplo screen and was able to talk with the DLs. You can try that in your game. If that will not work, you have two options: either strengthen your planets DLs

Hi! I did figure that I need supporting econ planets but didnt figure that it had to be of the order of 10:1. Please note I wrote UP TO. My usual ratio is significantly lower. in earlier games the AIs were not researching planet colonisation techniques to start with, but are focussing on weapons. Evil civs (esp. Drengin, Korath and Yor) most of the time focus on warfaring techs. Good civs give more focus on ot

Hi! how do I go to them and say "your military is inadequate to defend you. Give us 1000 and we'll make sure you aren't invaded...by us?" Just ask for 1000BC, no need of politeness. However that never worked in my games. BR, Iztok

Hi! What surprised me, though, is the final score. My score was 9960 (quite low? sorry - no metaverse, havent done one so far, but no cheats, no Ctrl+N). However, the Arceans were ahead in every single category - tech, military etc. And their total score was less than mine!! How does that work? Simply: you won, and got additional points for that. It seems that Industrial Sectors sucks Very true.

Hi! I noticed that quite often a lot of races in my games used the same type of weapon. It was not so extreme specialization as you've seen, but 7 of 9 races using the same weapon was not uncommon. However I've also seen them switch wapon type - after building quite some low-tech ships of one type, they started producing warships with another one. Just wait and see what happens in your game.

Hi! problem is I only played the demo, cus the real game is close to impossible to get, unless it's acually impossible. Not at all! From Autohost you can download the latest patch STARS26JRC4.ZIP and from RGCS you can get a valid serial (check the thread "Please donate your Stars! serial number here". If you want a UNIQUE serial you can e-mail Rom (the AH webmaster) and he will give you one for a small donation of up to 6 USD. BR, Iztok

Hi! The Paulos, a minor race, had a colony ship! In one of my suicidal game, where I tried a trade whoring, and generated max number of minors, I saw a minor civ with a colonizer. I don't remember well, but they could be Paulos. BR, Iztok

Hi! how much experience did your ships gain from this Iztok? Not much. I expected significanly more. Probably those corvettes had too low a value to give more experience to my ships. BR, Iztok

Hi! but the Drengin had dozens of fleets all stacked on top of each other. If I face Drengin, I ALWAYS research armor up to Superior Duranthium. A fregate with just 2 weapons and 6-8 such armors is indestructible by those Super Dominator corvettes. In one game I just parked two of such ships close to that horde of corvettes, and Drengin in their turn promply sent all of them after my ships. Despite I turned off combat viewer it took the game several minu
