Hi! Com'on I don't expect an Einstein at work there... Tell that to the developers. Or play a multuiplayer game. In Stars! we need some fresh blood. speaking of AI algorythms: which races would be somewhat more offensive opponents? Depends on your race's alignment,

Hi! My morale stayed around 70% (average) default taxrate 33% or so. You should aim at 49% tax in the after-colonizing era, 59%-69% in the mid game, and 79% in the late game. That means you build/buy all the morale "wonders" you can get (those give ~50% bonus), and research the whole morale tree, while mainatinig 6B (planets below class 9, maybe even class 11) and 9-13B pop on other planets with avarage approval ~55% to not lose elections (or even "cheat
Hi! Yes, I'd make one of the top priorities of changes to the game to be making good a viable option. IMO citizen of good races are proud to be on the right side, so the proper bonus for them should be an increase in approval . Not morale (you got 15% of it when researched Xeno Ethics), but direct 5% increase to approval. The easiest way to incorporate that would be the general increase of bonus for high quality planet, from 0% for planets below cl
Hi! Different AIs use different alghorythms for combat. Korx don't have good ones at their disposal. And no AI has really good alghorythms for combat. You can't expect having everything in a 39$ game. BR, Iztok
Hi! Luck +25 helps me in the initial phases because it increases the frequency of those delicious 1000bc and 2500bc anomalies. I'm affraid that's not true. Anomalies have a FIXED bonus. In DA Luck ability increases the lowest roll for your weapons by stated percent. So with luck of 25% the weapon that could roll an attack from 0 to 4 will roll from 1 to 4 (lowest limit + 25% of highest), increasing the average damage the ship can deal by 12.5%.
Hi! Could someone perhaps give me an example of what they do on the real hard dificulty settings. What they get on higher difficulty levels you can find here: AI Intelligence Level . What they do you can find by yourself, playing one or two tiny/small suicidal games with max AIs, and you'll see with your own eyes whate borgs' motto "Resistance is futile. Prepare to be assimialted." really me
Hi! Don't burn the place down! OFC we will not! (looking for a dynamite and a BIIIG sledgehammer) Have a good vacation! BR, Iztok
Hi! Economics+30, Luck+25, Creative+25, and Military production+30 Just trade Creativity for +10% Morale and you're good to go for a conquest victory. If you're playing DA, leave Luck at 25%. BR, Iztok
Hi! You failed to mention some important things, that direcly affect the econ: game's difficulty level, and how you handled your pop and morale. For AIs to have lots of money, they usually have some bonuses to make it: either high initiall econ ability, or high morale ability, and they also tax their pop very high. IIRC Altarians have both starting econ and morale bonuses. And just to let you know: compard to Dark Avatar are Dreadlors a walk in the park regarding money pro
Hi! DreadLords are a very special case race. Using spies on them seems to be pointless, they start with almost all tech maxed, I'm not sure if they are actually using money for production... So what you found is very likely by design and not a bug. About the only thing I see as a glitch would be the ability to communicate with them. BR, Iztok
Hi! So, what am I doing wrong? Any tips? Reading your post I can not point at anything specific, but the general impression you develop too slow. I can suggest you to search the forums for early game strategy tips, like Ok, Let's Help the nub... . BR, Iztok
Hi! As I recall, the complaint with the original system was that fleets of tiny fighters were annihilating the big dreadnaughts In my games that almost never happened, because I used well-defended ships with proper defenses for my current enemy. My gripe with DL was the loss of a superiorily-defended super-expensive huge ship losing to a bunch of all-attack mediums, because my ship rolled some bad defensive rolls. At the end I adapted to using big fleets
Hi! I've got to tinker with my build a little so I can come up with an AAR that spans more than two paragraphs and a screenshot of my 18% approval and -225bc/month economy. 1st rule: don't buy ANYTHING but the first and the second factory on your homeworld. Use those remaining 4000BC to bridge the 225 hole until you grow enough pop to tax them to positive income and stay at ~50% approval at the same time. To get more cash, grab more anomalies with some a
Hi! 3. How does level of infiltration correlate to number of techs stolen? To my experience it doesn't. I got a tech at the 3rd turn my spy was at on the planet. Some players also reported that when they got to the advanced level, they stole more techs. I can not confirm their finding, and can not say anything about having advanced espionage and stealing tech(s) without having a spy, like it was possible in DL. BR, Iztok
Hi! Where do the extra 8tp's come from, my racial bonus? Because I have a 20% research bonus for one of my racial abilities, and that's only about a 10% increase That's your racial bonus, and you probably have it at 10%, not at 20%. Please check again. BTW you may find this topic Production explained - how various bonuses apply usefull. BR, Iztok
Hi! So against fleets of defensive ships, you need to use fleets of offensive ships. Against fleets of offensive ships, you need to use individual suicide ships. Against individual suicide ships you need to use fleets of defensive ships. Rock. Paper. Scissors. I rarely see the AI use this tactic however. Indeed. Since in late game defenses are usefull only in very specific situations, and I have yet to see indivi
Hi! if Stardock were to show a bit of divine beneficence towards ES it would be viewed by many as a positive thing. I have reason to suspect that such charity by Stardock would not go unappreciated. Rising my hand in support. Just to add my thought: I grow up in a country where the freedom od speech was guarranted in the constitution, but the freedom after speech was not. So the term "political correctness" sounds in my ears strangely familiar, w
Hi! I would really like to be able talk to one of the devs, and ask "what were you thinking?". Me too. Not only because good events suck, but because they made main evil civ's so strong. In most my games good civs are the first victims, to either evil or me, because at the start they're so weak. Iconians haven't built a single warship despite I've been conquering their planets for more than two months. Most of the time it's the same with Torians, and qui
Hi! I've always thought the resources are kind of broken. I agree. Just having one mil resource while others have none can make you a winner, as your ships will attack and defend 39% beter FOR FREE. If GC would be a multiplayer game I'd be the first one to vote galactic resources out, because they unbalance the game so much. But it's a single-player game, so I can play how I want: restart, reload, cheat, or go down in flames. I never heard an AI complaini
Hi! splitting your Dreadnaught into singletons and attacking one by one means that you only lose one ship per engagement, but you're doing less damage to the enemy because of their defense bonus. What will small defense bonus do against 800 points of attack from that single ship? Not the logistic, the combat in DA is flawed: with low fleet attack a player can make virtually indestructible ships. But when opponent fields a fleet with more
Hi! You can find all bonuses a planet has by clicking Details (in lower right corner) on the Colony Management screen. Planet's bonuses are on the right side in the middle frame. BR, Iztok
Hi! Ok, another way around this problem is to pack your huge hulls with enough defence to absorb a large portion of the enemy`s attack. This has been tried, and works until AI fleets are below ~600 attack. However the fleet of 5 suicidal AI's huges with ultimate weapons packs ~4000 damage. No single ship of human player can get more than ~800 defenses (well, if he owns 3+ mil resources, but then the game's already won). Against 4000 attack is using defens
Hi! Depletion? That is not how I thought defenses worked. What exactly IS the formula here? Check this: DA (Beta) Combat System . A lenghty thread, at the end developers made an example of combat with new rules. BR, Iztok
Hi! So is it true that defenses don't stack? Not exactly. AFAIK if a ship has 50 beam defenses and 4 armor, it doesn't defend against mass attacks as sqrt(50) + 4 , but separately sqrt(50) until depleted and 4 until depleted. BR, Iztok
Hi! I understand they are there for three purposes: With current game settings is the main purpose of spies to kill your economy while you're using them. Producing the 20th spy costs as much as a serious war. In my small games it's usually cheaper to conquer a civ than to get rid of spies on my planets. BR, Iztok
