Hi! Then the Jagged Knife came, took this planet (and several others of course ). after I re-conquered it, the production looked like this: The explanation for the second picture is simple: you don't have a ship in queue, so the interface displays only BASE production without any bonuses. Put a ship in queue, and you'll see the planet's actual production with all bonuses applied. The ship that used to take me 5 turns

Hi! For one, freighters are vulnerable where taxpayers are a dime a dozen. You need to have powerful or plentiful warships near your trade route at all times ... or you build the Galactic Privateer, forget the starbases, free a big amount of your forces from patrol duty, and use those ships on your enemy. Significally less investment in trade starbase and protective ships, that can't do much if MegaPirates or Peacekeepers happen. <div

Hi! If you have another race's research treaty, you get a bonus of 10% of their current research output AFAIK bonuses AIs get at higher difficulty levels are not included into the TPs from treaty. So when you see the suicidal AI producing 1000 TP, you'll get only 20 from the research treaty, because its base research is only 200, and 800 TPs are suicidal bonus. BR, Iztok

Hi! Also, I think Iztok might be somewhat underestimating the long-term value of really long routes on a gigantic map. AFAIK the value of the route is nerfed with the size of the galaxy, so a 400-turns route on gigantic can bring only about a double amount of 100-turn route in medium galaxy. Never checked the exact numbers, but revenues from my games speek for themself: 1000-2000 BC on average on ANY map, never exceeded 3000 (save the trade event). <b

Hi! The more planets you have, the less is trade revenue important as an income. On a gigantic galaxy with several hundred habitable planets is monetary value of trade routes negligible. But the diplomatic bunus is still the same, so IMO it's better to use trade routes for diplomatic purposes. In my games that means every mayor race in range gets one, even those, that I plan to exterminate (but not the first victim). Additional routes I open only with the race I think will survive for a long

Hi! General strat? Same as for any game: grab as many planets as you can (and more ) with big planets first, grow pop as fast as possible until you have money to do so, make good infrastructure on your planets. Get good diplomacy, a trade route to all neighbours, some cheap armed ships in orbits to not look weak, and conquer weak civs ASAP. Keep gradually improving

Hi! The next turn one of my planets is Invaded by the Iconians. What's weird is, there was no delcaration of war. Just popped up the invasion screen. ... I check the foreign stats screen and I'm not at war with Anyone??? A small glitch that I've also encountered. Very likely the game doesn't check for a diplo state at invasion, so Iconians sent their troops at drengin's planet, but you conquered it before transport arrived. If you keep at least one

Hi! That is, if I park a ship on a starbase, an enemy can swoop in, destroy the base and then leave again without ever engaging my ship. AFAIK the solution is simple: don't arm your SBs, and it will be attacked the last. BR, Iztok

Hi! I've updated quite a lot of game mechanics there, but after checking what else needs an update I lost quite some enthusiasm. It's a lot of work for one person... However updating race stats is IMO pointless for two reasons: - you can see their settings when you chose them to play, and - AIs get on maso+ levels so much points over base stats, that they practically become another race. Hi! In current game with minor civs disabled, it looks like the rebelion for evil civs is also disabled. Can you change that, so evil civs would get some long-term "punishment" for short-term bonuses they get at random events. Something like: their planets should always be in danger of revolt. The lower the approval, the higher the probability of revolt, starting with 0.0% and adding .2% for each 10% below 100% approval (so a planet at 50% approval would have 1.0% chance each turn.

Hi! My economy is very strong like 1000bc per turn, so I'm using it to just upgrade my ships and buy social stuff. That way I can continue to build up my planets and build up starbases. The early 1000BC surpluss is a sign you can get another tech level in research and factories, as you have the cash to afford that. Don't upgrade warships, it's waaay to costly. For the same price you can build another (and better) one. Invest that money in infra

Hi! building (civ wide) that allows a telepathic invasion tactic that gives no combat bonuses but if the attacker loses then the defending planet has a chance of subverting to the attacker anyway (25% / SQRT(planet_population_in_billions)). IMO better: num_attackers / num_defenders. Prevents 1M invaders cheese. Good points. I'd just "shuffle" them a bit. IMO the good civs should get influence bonuses, as they're so convinced in ther righte

Hi! On a huge galaxy My first advice: don't play huge all-abundant galexies. In the mid-game you'll find out there's too much work and too little fun in such a large game to be enjoyable. For your problem this is also the solution. Play only in games where every player gets only 10-20 planets. A large all-abundant with 9 AIs should be about there. For managing more than 20 planets you need more cash, or less spending. In the game you can

Hi! What can I do to get back into the green? What's your income, outcome, ballance? What's making you the biggest loss? Without those answers I can offer you just general advices: - increase taxes to the point most planets will be just above 20% approval (beware: on those below 20% pop will "get lost" 10% per week). You need over 50% approval only for the week of elections; - decrease spending (well, with your debt that's already taken c

Hi! -Check opponent fastest combat ship speed -Build transport with that speed +4 -When deploying them check for enemy ship presence within their combat range - if there are move transports out of the way). AI can do that better than human since humans are too lazy to calculate exact amount of squares between fleets ( I lose quite a few ships due to failure to do that) . And an avid player will deploy a large ship with most engines and single gun.

Hi! Great suggestions from someone who is obviously a seasoned military strategist. Eh, according to your picture, I'm likely longer a military strategist than you're alive. Thanks for all the advice. If I manage to pull out of this slugfest and conquer the universe, I'll be sure to make you King of your own PQ15 planet. <br

Hi! but it's very difficult to avoid the inevitable AI counter-attack when you're facing a situation like this: You need to fight opponent's economy, not fleets. The situation you've shown is simple: you leave their fleets intact, but invade their planet. The bonuses are many: - you gain new planet, - you can gain new tech, - you kill one of their planet == their source of income and ships, - you shorten their range. If you can't hold

Hi! AFAIK espionage bonus in DA allows you to spend MORE money, so you get your spy faster. Total waste of points if you ask me. IIRC in DL it really worked as a bonus: you put in espionage some BCs, and bonus added a stated percent of free BCs. BR, Iztok

Hi! I don't think you are following me. The unit represented by the little figures with swords is just that, a representation of a unit that was originally formed with basically older technology... Ermmm, the icon on the screen is the only thing that diferentiates that unit from some other one, without checking its stats. Following your argumentation would mean all chess pieces could look equal. Ever played Stratego? If the game is an open-infor

Hi! Just a few suggestions. You don't need to fight all wars alone. Try to make them fight among themself. IMO Drengin should attack Altarians, as they seem to be the greatest threat, are quite far away, and quite capable to fight. If you can get them into position safely, try to have some troop transports ready to capture altarians' planets close to Drengin, when Drengin will destroy their defenders. A steady stream of troop transports from your core planets to the rear o
