Hi! Many people recommend "just send one ship at a time" but clearly this is patently false.. I'm affraid you've over-generalized the "just one ship" rule. It always depends on the situation. In your case even if you'd fleet your 3 mediums with only 12 attack each, that would not guarantee you a victory because of the "the strongest ship survives" rule, the DL's scout obviously being the strongest one. If it would manage to destroy all your ships in retu

Hi! Do the powerplants and Science coordiantors help? They make your planets produce more, but you pay full amount for the increase they provide. 1 research lab and 20 coordinators Why don't you try to do that within a game? Then you'll quickly realize how silly your question is. Which production buildings? Which science buildings? Those you can "feed" with your e

Hi! my planets reflect different tax rates when i hover the mouse cursor over tax income (from 38% - 52%). Are you sure that's the tax rate what is displayed? The only number I get as a percentage is approval. Can you give more detailed description on where you have your mouse cursor when you get those numbers? BR, Iztok

Hi! AFAIK tech costs scale only with the galaxy size - the larger galaxy, the higher the costs - up to huge. I have no interest in paying 8000 TP for farming III So don't research it. There are techs that I find quite ambiguous - farming one among them. I actually can't remember when I researched anything above its first level. BR, Iztok

Hi! I thought Military resource bonuses only applied to ships. They apply to other bases as well? Yes, but only for SB defense modules, not for the attack ones. BR, Iztok

Hi! AFAIK the defense capabilities on SBs are displayed correctly, but the math behind SB's attack capabilities doesn't add to the displayed numbers. Another text glitch that will probably never be fixed. In your case it looks to me like you have a really big defense bonus - probably 6 military resources maxxed. Can you please check about that, and about your race's defense bonus? BR,

Hi! if you do build multiple clinics are the effects additive, or just 25% to the base rate each time, Fertility clinic gives you 25% of the base growth rate, or 50% at 100% approval. That means until your growth is below 75 million pop (let's say the growth on a planet is 40M) a FC adds 25% to it (in our case 10M, or 20 at 100% approval). When your base growth goes over 75M, the contribution from a FC turns to fixed number 19M (38M at 100% approv

Hi! 1. How does AI decides which ship attacks 1st in combat? Something along the lines of attack / (defenses + hitpoints). So ships with high attack and low defense are usually targeted first. 2. How exactly defense works? In DL they roll from 0 to their max defensive value for each attack from each opponent's ship, that rolls from 1 to its max attack value. Non-matching defenses roll from 0 to sqrt(max value)

Hi! Planet quality reperesents the number of usable tiles. So when you make new tiles usable with building terraforming or with neutral's instaforming, the PQ should also rise. BR, Iztok

Hi! i'm just trying to figure out what incentive we'd have to sending such ships to other planets from the Sol system, if we're not going to be getting anything in return. I see only one return: better chances of mankind's survival. For all practical purpose there's no econ incentive of colonizing other solar systems: I can't imagine a single corporation that would invest zillions of dollars, and wait several decades to get the first installmen

Hi! What does this all factory strategy mean regarding research? Check this thread: Labs, Factories, and Focus for more clarification, and the wyndstar's AAR Altarian Rebillion , where he pushed the all-labs to extreme. What im not getting is how production/hammers can

Hi! Nature does not give us anything we dont need to survive. I disagree here. Just look at diversity of our environment, and tell me that EVERYTHING you can see is needed for survival. Mutations give live beings quite a lot of stuff they don't NEED to survive in their current environment. However evolution weeds out those that are LESS CAPABLE to survive, as only those beings that do, have the opportunity to pass their genes to the next generat

Hi! > Now someone please explain how to convince the hydrogen ion to travel 5 > million kilometers from the edge od the scoop area to the nozzle of the scoop in > less than one second? very powerful magnets; and it doesn't need to travel there in 1 second. 1) the strenght of the magnetic field falls with the square root of the distance. Hi! I can't help you with the mission. Too much time passed when I played it. But from your post i suspect you need help on overal game strategy and mechanics. Like: I rise the taxes until morale drops to 30% Usually a player rises the tax to 70%+ (below 40% approval) when he's grown all his planets to their max pop level. That usually means ~12B pop everywhere, with most morale "wonders" and one morale resource fully mined, or ~16B with two-thre

Hi! All of us consumers paid good money at Best Buy or Amazon for your game, Brad. Please reinvest some of that wonderful cash we gave you, several million dollars, and add multiplayer. We would appreciate it. Please speak for yourself. Me and obviously quite some posters here do not belong into your "we". And from my POV and experience with TBS MP games, just adding MP to the GalCiv, without significantly changing the pace of the game, will no

Hi! the most abundant source of propellant seems to be interstellar gas. but if you could reliabily ionize 100% of that gas using radio waves, you'd still need to 'scoop' 10^18 cubic meters of space to gather just 1 gram of hydrogen (that's a cube with sides about 1,000 kilometers long - though it'd probably be sweeping in cylinders). You call that abundant? <im

Hi! One guy described a game that he finished with !6! Hyperion Shrinkers. AFAIK there was quite a rigid cap on miniaturization too. I remember reading an article (DL game) where a player complained that he couldn't make use of all captured Hyperion Shrinkers, and Stardock replayed it's by design: mini was capped at 150%. IIRC Yor players were quite upset at that time. I don't know if that cap is still present - haven't played much recently, and

Hi! I only use conquest victories and i cannot bear to play to the end. Errrr.... well ... khmmm? Would you care to explain how you mix those two goals, because you can't win militarily if you don't mop-up the rest of the opposition? Mopping up is just too time consuming and boring as hell. Yes, and that's the reason w

Hi! (prefering to buy the ships made by the #1 military civilization in the beginning of the game) ... This is on Suicidal difficulty btw, Errr, please update your knowledge a bit, and use correst tense. The first, the only and the last one game you posted to MW was with DL 1.0x in the year 2006. If you'd play with updated games, you'd know it's nigh on impossible to buy armed ships from AI on anything harder than normal. BR, Iztok
