Hi! free diplomacy. As far as I can see, you just assumed that it was the case I didn't need to investigate. Brad already mentioned that on forums. I've also been contacted by AI many times at game load, and also get messages about other diplomatic events. But exactly the "free diplomacy" raised my suspiction about "free building build/purchase" at game load. BR, Iztok

Hi! Maybe I am missing something. Did you actually enhance your mil SBs with military-supporting modules? There's a whole branch in the tech tree with them. I think it starts with the Starbase Defense tech (quite misleading name BTW). And your ships must have at least one attack to get attack enhancements, and at least one defense to get defensive enhancements from those SB modules. BR, Iztok

Hi! each point of attack/defense is rolled with a 50% chance. In DA-combat each weapon rolls separately, so the rolls are already distributed by normal (bell-like) curve, which makes combat results less random. I just don't know if defenses should work the same way, since one defense on average blocks less damage than one weapon can inflict. BR, Iztok

Hi! I'd personally just prefer to remove the spending slider entirely, and have the military, social, and research sliders all act independantly in that regard. Personally the only change I'd like to see is a separate funding for labs. I'd still like the game to retain the "ships or buildings" dilemma. But "production or research" dilemma we have currently, with a separate type of building for research, is IMO too artificial. BR, Iztok

Hi! It says that water planets & barren planets & the like give 1/2 production. Is that only the factory output The last time I checked (DA 1.6 beta5) only the factory output was penalized. Research, taxes, morale, pop growth, food production were all normal. BR, Iztok

Hi! > Owwwww, man, that would HURT! Especially me, because in late game I usually > have most trade goods and tech. I'd call that mega-PAIN event. I disagree. I think it would be a fun mega event to have to deal with. Do not cause an absurd amount of pain Please note a "wink" at the end of my post. I was not serious! But the event would really

Hi! the "waste" would have to equal fifty percent of total output That would simply kill diversity of the game, since only one approach would be feasible. Are you aware that all-X also requires 3-4 times the money than the mixed approach? That's the real secret of advanced players - knowldge how to cover that insane hole all-X is making in a game that was never mentioned to produce so much money, and the dedication to actually DO what's necessa

Hi! -All Factories- Advantages * Planets can build ships, factories and do research at the same time. * It requires low amount of MicroManagement. After the second or the third factory is built, player sets focus on research and forgets the planet again. * Easy to do an early low-tech attack, where only transports and very few armed ships are needed. * Easy to do the mid-game attack, since most planets are developed and can produce lots of

Hi! H4xx0r5 for freedom A galactic crimewave hits the networks. Researched technologies by all races are available to everyone. In addition, it becomes impossible to effectively control patents and all races gain the benefits of any trade good which has been built so far. Owwwww, man, that would HURT! Especially me, because in late game I usually have most trade goods and tech. I'd call that mega-PAIN event. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_

Hi! 1) The dark lords have shown up and are usin my starbases and tiny ships for target pratice. ... My questtion is how do I communicate with them to ask for peace. You cant. The only way to get rid of them is to exterminate them, you or your allies. And don't build much of starbases in a game with Dread Lords. They have a sixth sense that leads them for target practice to every SB you build. BR, Iztok

Hi! Be careful with the wiki information, though, it hasn't been updated since the game came out. That exact page you pointed on was recently updated, and is stil not finished. There are some strange pop growth "readings" in DA 1.6 beta5 that need to be tested. At first look I'd say the pop growth formula has changed. BR, Iztok

Hi! How do you pick your enemy? First target: weakest & close (I go for a fast kill, usually it's a race without military, taken in 1-3 turns with some single weapon fast cargo ships and troop transports). If there are other non-militarized AIs, I go after them next. Next targets: - If I'm strong enough, I attack the closest bully (ususally Drengin, Korath or Yor). - If I'm not, I incite war among bulies and after they lose some military, at

Hi! I don't get the size mods you listed. How does that affect the weapon and space available? It adds the stated percent of the hull space to the size of the item. Like: hull has 100 space, you'd like to put in it the Doom Ray (size 10, sizemod 4). The actual size of the Doom ray for that hull will be 10 + 4 sizemod * 100 space / 100 (for percents) = 14. The low sizemod for missiles makes them even more atractive weapon for large hulls. In fact

Hi! + TWEAK: Made a slight change to the code that starts the AI threads which may help with the AI seeming to get a free turn at the start of a new game or when loading a save game but as I didn't have time to fully investigate the bug, this may only address part of the problem. Until AIs have to pay for their purchases, IMO this "free-purchase-at-reload" bug is a non-issue. IIRC in all my games where I allowed tech-trade, no AI had a significant amount

Hi! Supernova... Comet... Black Hole... Effects of those eventa are pretty localized, so they will hit only ONE civ most of the time. That's IMO not a mega event. Would be, if it would severey disrupt the big leading civ. Carriers, fighters and mines. And star destroying weapons. You forget tactical combat and multiplayer. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Mad.gif" border=0 alig

Hi! Yeah but you suffer the -40 BC / turn maintenance and expenses. Maintenance for an Initial Colony building is 12 or 14 BC (depending on the game version). If you don't put in queue anything, it will stay so. But if just drop there some excess pop from food-maxed planets, those tiny planets will soon pay for themself, and you'll have a good base pop after you build Orbital Terraformer and planet instantly goes form class 1-2-3 to 10-19. At least that

Hi! The 50% reduction of trade revenue when treasury is higher than 10,000BC seems to be gone. I still need to confirm that with a testbed. Dog of Justice has discovered that the 3.5% base population growth before planet hits 75M growth cap seems to have a random part of about half a percent. More research needed. BR, Iztok

Hi! we'd love to hear what additional mega events you would like to see in the game. Well, if you ask... Beings that ascended many eons ago returned to our galaxy and were upset with constant war. They destroyed all ships and starbases. - They also changed energy levels of the universe in such a way that only the most basic weapons (particle beam, space

Hi! Or a civ that IGNORES that tech and relies on having fleets of smaller, technically advanced fighter craft? Hrmmmmm, that's the description of most mid-game evil fleets I usually see. In my recent maso game I have a look at yor's heavy fighter with beam attack 22 (6 phasors 3), their biggest fleet has beam attack 118. My best weapons tech is Graviton 3, and it is stolen from conquered Korath - my researched tech is Harpoon 2. BR, Iztok
