Hi! - Resource Bonus (-50% to 200%) - Aggression Level (1 through 10) - Strategy Type (A, B, C, D) where most players would wnat to choose random but it would have various general strategies that TBS's and RTSs have. - Intelligence (1 through 10 which the higher the #, the more CPU it would use). Race creation What to pick? Pop means cash! --- Late game, weak neighbour At least that's what he thinks of me. Avalanche of my troops wipes him away. --- Maso game, insane bonuses All neighbours brandishing big fleets. Damn, when I'll learn to stay away? --- I'm good, you're good, let's have an alliance. Here, a gift, or three, ... or ten? Screw good! Kill the sucker! --- Haiku, far-east form

Hi! Well, I beg to differ, a 100 turn game seems awfully quick for Stars! That's why I warned you about begginers "standard" 25k @ 2450. In older Stars! days a race that was able to get 25k resources in 50 turns was considered a "monster". Now that achie

Hi! SFB rocked! ... i'd love to see that done up right, in a computer game Ther was a Starfleet Command series of PC games based on SFB pen-and-paper game. AFAIK first two titles were quite tightly tied to rule book. I've played only the second one, but after some time missons started to repeat too much. Still quite fun game. BR, Izt

Hi! Heh, what graphics? They weren't exactly mind-blowing. What I heard was the code could be made public, but without accompanying graphics would be next to useless. OFC I could be wrong. I've not been even remotely close to the development team at that time. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class=

Hi! I get SOOOO tired of pooring a gazillion constructors into developing a starbase, only to have it easily picked off by a strong fleet. I agree here. A fully developed mining SB needs ~25 constructors - that's 5000 BC investment. In my last game I had mining starbases with 81 beam defenses (full level 2 defenses + 2 mil. resource starbases).

Hi! It would be nice if the company would release the source code It's quite complicated. The developers have the rights on the code, but publisher had the rights on the graphics and patially on the code. Since they didn't part as friends... IIRC

Hi! I just played it so much that I actually did get tired of playing it. I know what you mean. As I'm fully dedicated to the game I'm currently in, I usually take a break several weeks long, after one Stars! game with live players is finished. In 1.x version the HE was really the monster. Now it's more of canon-fooder. Well, not in

Hi! @ Marcathonas Wow, you really don't know what you're talking about either. Looking at your metaverse score and your writing, I'd say you're very close to that statement either. Let me prove that. Neutr

Hi! those NLC's render any weapons tech under the black hole and Doomray weapons obsolete pretty fast. Erm... try huge uni, common everything, slowest tech rate and no tech trade and you'll see how long you'll be using attack 2 or 3 weapons in your ships. <

Hi! Because you can see from above where defending troops are hiding, and act appropriately (bomb them into oblivion ). BR, Iztok

Hi! problem with that game is that their can be borderline cheating when a player uses in-game limits with "chaff" There are quite some known limitations in the game, because Stars! is a 16-bit program. And because they are known, most game hosts bann or severely limit their usage. Also using Autohost to host games limits their usage even more.

Hi! @ eravenheart Pick an ethical alignment and then build "Harmoney Crystals" somewhere. Picking "Neutral" provides its own morale boost. Research all the morale techs and build the trade goods that come with them. Also research Xeno Cultural Trends to get "Frictionless Clothing"... All you've mentioned would be good, if the high

Hi! I still do. The active community you can find on starsautohost.org http://www.starsautohost.org/stars.htm When you'll be tired of GalCiv, you can visit us there for a real non-cheating challenge - just the game interface, your wits, and other persons to beat or cooperate with them. BR, Iztok

Hi! > 1. Pop grows by 3% or 75 million, whichever is smaller. That seems too low.I was finding the cap at 200M odd without race bonuses and below 75% morale. Have they nerfed population growth still further in 1.2? I don't have the 1.2 version loaded. Ther were some nasty bugs mentioned on forums, so I opted to not upgrade my 1.11 version.

Hi! I'm talking on intelligent difficulty BTW. Ah, here's the catch. Intelligent still doesn't apply all AI algorythms. You need to play on though to get full AI. Besides, the AI I'm warry off the most is Drengin. In my games (if they start at least moderately good) they build good military quite early, attack with it, and wi

Hi! why not finishing the game with an alliance victory: after all, you are leading, nobody can annoy you, every race reckognize your lead. That's exactly the thing I did in my last game. After taking out Torians, Drath and Korx I grow so big no one was able to hurt me seriously. OTOH there would be just too much work involved in the mop-up. I r

Hi! keep approval at 100% with lower taxes for the first 20 turns of the game or so. That's a very good advice. To explain why, I have to explain the mechanics behind pop growth (check also wikipedia) 1. Pop grows by 3% or 75 million, whichever is smaller. 2. Approval bonuses are applied after the basic growth is calculated, so

Hi! Not the current revenue , the amount of money in treasury is what triggers the econ bonus drop. I've observed it in my last game. When my treasury was over 10000BC, the econ graph dropped by ~5 percent in the next turn. When over 20000BC, graph (and revenue) dropped by 15-20%. I didn't test higher, it was quite a demanding game. BR, Iztok
