Hi! but watch the numbers for tax income ... Ironically, the fluctuations occur most often when I am not producing anything. I too have seen that behaviour. My economy graph suddenly dropped by 20%. But then I remember reading here somewhere that when your cash reserve goes over 20000, you get a penality to your econ. Indeed this seems to be th

Hi! Formula for average damage You seem to have too much time. What I'm using to calculate the average damage is much more simple: attack value halved - defense value halved, where defense value is a sum of all par
Hi! I switch from Democracy to federation (if that's the one after it, I don't really remmeber), and my industry/research/military bonus goes from 50 to 75 AFAIK the only one bonus you receive currently (game 1.1) from governments are economic bonuses. And those are quite modest: 10%, 20% and 30%. No research and manufacturing bonuses wha
Hi! I see no reason why it wouldn't work, but it is cheasy, and it is also costly in citizens... Who says I'll give away a planet with full pop? 1) I'll LIFT all but 1 citizen, and 2) give away the planet. 3) Invade immediately thereafter with special low cost troop transport, based on tiny hull with only 1 invasion modu
Hi! i had a similar problem restarting my comp fixed that. if that doesnt (which i bet you have) try a reinstall The right procedure is: 1) uninstall. 2) reboot. 3) install. Found that the hard way. BR, Iztok
Hi! As long as you have some friends and keep most of the AIs off your back, being behind in technology doesn't really matter. True. But if you want to expand, you hit the tech wall. I forget to mention I played both games in huge uni with common everything, and the slowest tech . That makes quite a difference - the tech costs modifier is
Hi! Well, masochistic is meant to be - masochistic. It's quite doable without evil magic, by the way. I can think of no way how the game on masichistic can be "quite doable". If it is generated with fair planet distribution (not me in one half of the uni, rest of AIs in another one), is it just hard work, without much chances of success. <br
Hi! I'm playing my second masochistic game with GalCiv2 version 1.11. I haven't finished the first one, and, despite it's only turn 108, I will likely also not this one. The reason is simple and is presented in next tree pictures. When I got the advanced espionage on Arcenans, I checked their planets. Here's what I found: You need to see that to belive. I was simply
Hi! One thing that annoys me when upgrading ship design is I don't see what exactly are component on it. Esp. annoying when quite some components have the same picture. Currently I'm so limited with that I rather design a new ship than upgrade the old one. Could you improve the UI in such a way I'd get some info on components? Like I'd click the component, and the left "window" would change the focus on it. Or I'd move a a mouse pointer over the component, and a texbox wit
Hi! In my current 1.11 patch game I disabled tech trading. On a diplomacy window I've seen that one AI was researching Photonic Torpedo II, but when I checked what tech it had, I saw it had only Missile weapon theory and Stingers. After few turns they were researching Industrial sectors, but there was no Manufacturing Centers in their tech list. However there were visible all missiles up to Photonic torpedos (still no Photonic torpedo II). IIRC in previous versions of
Hi! the universal translator breaks parity between human and AI players I agree. If my race wants to talk to other race, it needs the UT. However other races don't need UT to talk, trade etc. I thought that was valid only for Terrans, but after trying Thalan and Yor I got the same result. No talk for me, free talk for them. A glitch. Hi! When I load the game after terriforming my planets, the PQ reverts to its orginal number A bug, known for quite a long time. Play as neutral and it goes away. BR, Iztok
Hi! ...the random techs that you get when you capture a planet. I just feel that it messes up the game slightly to get an uber tech that you are no where near researching. Stars! has that solved in a different way: when you successfully roll for a tech, you get tech points, not blueprints. The same solution could be applied h
Hi! The AI's that I fight always use shield but various weapons, but usually beam weapons... I've seen more differentiation in weapon techs. In my last few (1.1 betaX) games I've in each game seen each weapon branch used by at least one AI. They do research some low levels of beam weapons, but then they go specializing. <TABLE cellpad
Hi! the entire galaxy grinds to a halt for a turn, dropping all the bars to zero. I remember a MoO2 random event: A time warp anomaly has occured in the system XY. No ships could move, and no production happens (in about that form ) It was annoying, if
Hi! Do the mines improve Capitals or only Factories? Only factories. Generaly speaking only a building that "produces" something gets a bonus, "wonders" don't. BR, Iztok
Hi! A good place to put my suggestion. What I'd like to see is an ability to randomize which AI will be assigned to which civ, and randomizing preffered alignments. Like: Drengin would get the AI from Arceans, and an allignment of good. This way I'd never know what approach should I chose with any civ I'd meet, until I'd invest quite some work on diplomatic window, and on observing their behaviour. Br, Iztok
Hi! they start to gang up on anyone near winning. Conquered 3 civs? They'll ALL attack you. Erm... no. I just finished a crippling game with those improvements. Looks like only the civs of the same alignment will band together. I elliminated all the bad civs first, then good civs, and Arceans as the last and neutral civ still haven't flagged me
Hi! Can the computer opponents win by alliance? OFC they can. But only if you too are allied to them. ALL races have to be in alliance for that victory to happen. And when it happens it counts as your victory. BR, Iztok
Hi! Does anyone know if this has any effect on gameplay You lose pop growth on those small planet (class 4 or 5), that were terraformed to higher values. They will be reverted to their original values, and the pop growth limits will apply. I.E. class 4 will not grow by itself over 2.56B. The solution is to play as neutral. Planets will al
Hi! I like having tech slow. Keeps older ship designs usefull for a longer time, and gives me a more "realistic" feeling. My first 1.1 beta (IIRC beta 2) game was with slowest tech and no tech trading. It was weird. In mid game AIs were fighting with waves of heavy fighters with beam attack 2. Some haven't got a single trade line. Some had only basic instalations on planets. Defenses on ships were rare like gold-pressed latinum <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles
Hi! how friendly you are to them might make a difference as well From my experience it makes a diference when buying weapons tech. If you're on friendly terms with them (and not a superpower), they'll sell you that tech. BR, Iztok
Hi! AI above crippling gets BIG bonuses. Those are not just 200% economy, they get insane bonuses in production, morale, influence... Some numbers from my maso games: - a planet without research installation, only with basic colony producing 46 tech points (and 52 military points for full picture), - a HW with 2 basic factories producing a colonizer each turn, - an empty planet with 3B pop producing more money than my 8B planet with econ capital and 2 advanced trade centers,
Hi! My current starting build is 2 factories, 3 Xeno Labs, 1 Happy buidling, and the rest of the sqaures are Economy. Only two factories are a bit low. I usualy aim at equivalent of 4 on my HW, to crank a colonizer in 2 turns and still producing/researching. BR, Iztok
