Of the samples I like (in order of preference) Row 4 #2 Row 3 #1 Row 5 #1

Well, I haven't made very many WB skins but only my first had a name from the beginning (Entropy). The word just popped into my head as I started learning SkinStudio, so it was going to be Entropy no matter what it looked like The rest were all named either very near the end or after completion and were named based on what feeling the skin invoked in me.
NEC has an 18" that will go 1280x1024, but most you see are 1024x768. Also most have a fairly high DPI like .26 -.28
Are you talking about a flatscreen or a LCD? LCD is the thin kind and flatscreen is a CRT but the front of the screen is flat instead of being rounded like a normal CRT. The LCD's are coming down in price which means that the higher quality ones will be more affordable.
When you upload one it will tell you to expect up to 5 days for moderation. During this time, your wall will show as pending approval in the list of your skins. After moderation, it will either disappear from the list of your skins (rejected) or it will show on the site and still be in the list of your skins with download amounts.
Oh no, I'm just getting used to this one j/k
That's what I've got, DM. There should be a new version coming out soon
Hey, I see skins everywhere I look nowadays
Hus Open 'My Computer', click on 'tools' on the menu, click on 'folder options'. In the dialog box click on the 'file types' tab and where it says 'registered file types' scroll down to 'zip', highlight it and click on the 'advanced' button. In the next dialog box, make sure 'confirm open after download' is checked. That should do it.
Try this http://www.bootxp.net/
Thanks T-Man. It sounds like this idea may get off the ground yet. I'll be looking forward to it Oh, and big thanks go to MadIce for getting this whole ball rolling
I'm not only going to leave my stuff here, I'm going to put up more. hehe, fair warning
DM, I usually start my new skins with a generic name like skin1, skin2 (how original is that, hmm?) and when I'm done, save as 'the new final name'. One added benefit is doing that only copies the needed stuff to the new folder (the one created when saving as). Then your zip/wba doesn't have a lot of 'extra' stuff in it. You will have to go and add font files (if not system fonts) and wallpapers, etc. to the new folder if you want them included in your wba/zip, though.
I'm mad as h*ll and I'm not going to take it anymore! Ooops, wrong thread
Thanks for the quick response! Lookin forward to the new SS
I created a new font# under Presets/Font Presets and every time I click on it, I get a message saying > " is not a valid integer value. The single quote is shown as I've typed it here. The font is working in my skin but SkinStudio must think 'something' is wrong. Anyone ever seen this or know what SS is trying to tell me? Thanks
The hardest parts for me are the one's I can't find You know, that setting to change that little something that is not quite right but seems to be hiding The worst part is, I know I found it when doing my last skin but, I'll be danged if I can find it now <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smi
Koasati, this is very strange. My Verdant skin works and the images are RGB 8bits per channel but my Entropy skin does not and it's images are also RGB 8bits per channel. The Halflife is indexed 8bits per channel and it works. Hmm, further investigation is in order
Shmoopy try decreasing to 256 color.Optimized Octree, Error Diffusion, Reduce Color Bleeding. All that last part is in the dialog that comes up when you reduce to 256
very nice concept Shmoopy! Personally I find the shadow on the Titlebar text a little distracting (hard to read) but I like the colors and the menubackgrounds. Just personal preference but I'd probably do away with the system icon. Overall, it's very good.
A_67, the large shellstyle images work for me in my HalfLife skin and also in the skin I'm working on now. They are saved in Indexed bmp (8 bit, I think).
You're right about that paxx I'll take 5000 anyday over 500 I really appreciate you guys taking the time to explain it so well and the reasoning behind it. I do believe the goal is a 'fair' system. Maybe everyone can just show a little tolerance as the bugs are worked out along the way. <img src="http
T-man Thanks for responding to this. This, in my opinion, is the way it should work. Regular people have ideas, make suggestions, etc. and the admins respond in a logical coherent way. Hopefully, we can see more of this kind of discourse on this board. Maybe there is some debate about how many people would sign up (I tend to agree with paxx) but at least we're talking about it in a ci
paxx, Good point. I think you're right in that some people (maybe even the majority) who don't login would not register in order to be able to download. But if the logged in only downloads are the only one's that matter as far as top counts go, they shouldn't decrease. It's likely they would increase slightly as some folks would register in order to be able to download the great skins, etc. I'm just thinking it would even the counts. In other words, there wouldn't be a raw and WC count,
