Why should someone get promoted here when they aren't even active here? If there's someone active on dA who uploads a bunch of stuff there, but nothing here, how are they doing WC any good? How are they benefiting this community?
Good point Bebi. That was part of the clarification I was seeking (which Jafo aptly provided) when I asked this earlier:
Just my opinion, but it seems this statement would be more accurate with the word 'Wincustomize' in place of
Btw, I guess I should update this thread too..IP4 4.09b cured all my issues with activation it seems.. I can run all parts of IP4 in sequence as many times as I want to without any of them nagging for activation. To be sure the beta contained activation I renamed the sig.bin and they asked for activation when they should (I only tested one or two of the parts this way).
I wondered about that. The release doesn't mention fixing that issue. Comments Zargon? .. or an
pictoratus....there are high level members here who are hardly ever on Wincustomize.com but their position/status reflects their involvement in the 'community' elsewhere..on other sites such as Deviantart ....
As well it should be .. again in my opinion. Although I would include participation in many of the smaller 'niche' sites as well as DeviantArt. It would be a shame, although understandable to a degree, for a skinner to be passed over or not even considered
Basically, you start out at citizen and if you contribute skins and to the community, you will be promoted through each of the classes.
Just my opinion, but it seems this statement would be more accurate with the word 'Wincustomize' in place of 'community' ... unless of course there is an implied assumption that Wincustomize is the community.
I've tried to figure out a trigger to make it work but haven't yet.
It appears to be random and a ... umm .. feature ... of the site. Probably no real cure until the next WC version.
You can trust that the mods take all claims to ripping (let's not beat around the bush here) seriously. But (and here's the big but) they will always try to moderate in favor of the artist. no matter who the artist is. If there is proof that something is amiss it will be dealt with. But with some visual styles the source is too muddled to be sure . . and we mods don't have the time to go through each skin in SKS.
Fair enough. I don't believe it serves anyone for a ski

I think I said this in a similar thread .. might have even been about the same ... altercation ... or a variation thereof. Regarding the issue John is referring to ... if the site admins/mods don't 'deal' with it, they are 'choosing' to let the members handle it in whatever way they feel is appropriate. ... Especially in light of a repeat situation.

Island Dog, what you don't understand is that to an anti-capitalist which this person obviously is (I prefer the shorter and more profound term 'asshat'), offering a product or service for sale amounts to coercion on the part of the seller. Only the lowest of the low would actually offer a product 'for a fee' thereby forcing the unsuspecting and powerless masses to 'pay' for something that by all Karl Marx given rights should be free! -Insert appropriate background soundtrack her

Your choice kitty, but when I've been faced with life altering dilemmas, I said 'Fuck that .. I'm not done yet' a little background for perspective ... testicular cancer at 28 .. surgery and a year of treatment broken neck and 6 months physical therapy to learn to function again at 41 menieres disease at 51 (imagine the feeling when you get off a playground merry go round ... head spinning, sick to your stomach ... for up to 7-8 hours nonstop) Like I said

Thanks BDBF. If I understand right, you installed with Impulse rather than SDC? And had no issues? I knew there was a good chance that they both were the same release (although the large variation in dates seems damn odd), but about the same time that many posts were being made about the third set of numbers having no significance (I read them also), an Iconpackager release came out to fix an activation issue and, yep, only the third set of numbers changed ... which kind of shot that gu

I don't know if this is what is causing SKS6 to crash for you but I've already found if you have overlapping margins on a piece, SKS6 will crash. Example: Toolbar is 30 px high; bottom margin is 17, top margin is 14 ... they overlap, SKS6 crashes. Open in SKS5 to adjust the margins for no overlap (SKS5 doesn't mind if they overlap) and SKS6 will be happy again. On the other hand SKS5 can break your skin; best to adjust the margins in notepad to be safe.
