Might also try uninstalling daemon tools if you have it installed. Often companies include code to detect daemon tools and abort installation if it is detected. Just reinstall daemon tools after you install GalCiv. Worked for me.

Corrupted Installation File in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

Anyone else have a problem installing from CD. I get an I/O error, corrupted file. I also tried to copy the CD to Hard Drive and install from there but I get the same error, so its not a hardware problem. The only information the error gives says "... this usually means a corrupted media or file." Both installing from CD and HD do the same thing.
