Brad Wardell: "At the end of the day, we have our own ideas on what makes a fun game and want to pursue that. And I can sympathize with Master of Orion fans who, ten years after MOO 2's release, are still looking for what they see as a "true sequel". But please stop trying to push MOO on us. We don't see being different from MOO as a flaw. " An

I had some ideas for making custom maps as well, however, I have no programming skill at all. I would be very interested in a way to easily create custom maps for Gal Civ2 for some scenarios I had in mind. This GUI idea sounds very promising.

Two other large factors to consider. The AI for MOO2 is antiquated and on higher difficulty levels 'cheated' to remain competitive, but was still beatable thanks to Tactical Combat. Don't get me wrong, I would love Tactical Combat in GC2, however, I believe that it's impossible to have a fair Tactical Combat system playing vs. AI. Gal Civ 2 has a much more sophisticated AI that offers a much better challenge. The second factor is replayablity. The sheer number of random events far o

@Nerva- I know I said I wouldn't reply, but I was impressed with your last post. I accept your apology as well. I understand your frustration, however, I must admit, I don't really feel the same way, but that's what makes this such a whacky and wonderful little rock, because everyone is different. As I said regarding your frustration. I felt the same way you illustrated in your first post after playing MOO 3. I didn't however vent on the forum for the same reason I didn't like the gam

I apologise if my post came off as a flame, it wasn't meant to be. In fact, I found some of your ideas for a game interesting. I was just curious as to why you spend so much energy basically spouting off a tirade of derision at the developers who I think did a pretty good job on this game. You can't tell me they didn't work hard on it. I just attempted to challenge you to take postive action I apologise for the comment about getting "off your ass". Sometimes all off us needs a kick in the pants

That's the problem I see with my generation. We are constantly sitting by and shouting "WHY DON'T PEOPLE DO THINGS 'X' Way?" "THE WORLD WOULD BE BETTER IF PEOPLE WOULD JUST DO 'X'". As I get older, I see it more and more from the people of my age group, and I even catch myself doing it. Instead of criticzing and complaining DO SOMETHING. The good people at Stardock "DID SOMETHING" instead of whining about it. They had an idea for a video game and they made it. Is it perfect? Are th

What I would like to see, is after establishing various levels of espionage, certain options thar are offered to allow you to influence the AI government to go to war with another AI, or perhaps perform some sort of sabatoge and implicate another AI damaging their relations. If you go to war with an AI whom you have Advanced Espionage on, you have options to disable defenses of a world you are getting ready to invade or sabotage Starbase Modules. Another option could be theft of a new high tec

Awe inspiring! The finest looking ship pics I have seen to date. I'd like to see some of your smaller class vessels. I follow a similar design philosophy trying to adopt a real naval flavor to my ship designs (though I can't say I have been as successful as you!).

I agree. I have a mouse wheel, but it simply will not function as a middle mouse button. Perhaps the Arrow keys can be used to rotate camera views? These keys are currently unassigned in the game to any function (that I am aware of).

Not neccesarily. I have been playing a game for a couple days now on normal as the Drath. I found out early on that the min/max capability of the AI far outstrips me, so my best choice was to go a more peaceful route. I carefully cultivated relations with all the major powers and brokered tech deals between all the races while spamming constructors to capture resources and freighters to open trade routes, result: I have no military but the Terrans and Alatrians are friendly (borderline close) w

I can see a Darlok type race appearing with all these features in GC2 - Expansion Pack. LOL I think the Drath fit this role already. I am currently playing a game with them now. First thing I did when I encountered the other races was to establish Espionage spending. A couple bc in the beginning translates to huge amounts o

The way I see it, when you create a light fighter the icon on the map actually represents a squadron of ships. I usually name my my fighters after Navy Fighter Squadrons (former Navy ) i.e VF-111 Sundowners, VF-103 Jolly Rogers, etc... To each their own, it's just the way I imagine it. With having hyperspace capability , the Fighters probably don't neccasarily need a carrier, or if I attatc

Well it could be worse. You could instigate the war and while overtly helping "your friend" you could covertly supply his enemy with tech and money! Not enough to win mind you, but enough to keep them at each other for a good long time.

Thanks Nasta! Oh...and don't worry, I control fully 1/3 of the galactic influence, so a 1000 here or there, is a pittance, but it did have an effect on their relations. I do think however, I will go the trade route path. That seems to be the more reliable means by which to secure 'close' relations.

Hello, Please forgive me if this is a Noobish question, but I read the manual and I watched the tutorials and I can't find anywhere a reference regarding the conditions needed for forming an alliance with another Civ. I researched the Alliance technology and it doesn't appear as an option on any of the negotiation screens. I have warm->Friendly relations with all other civs. I imagine it needs to be even more friendly before this is an option, but is that the only requi

Please forgive me if these issues have already been brought up, but I searched the forums (an auto search function would be spiffy!) and was unable to find anything similar. 1. One of my colonies has a starport but when I task it to build a ship it doesn't build. In the display it shows build time as 0 weeks, and the purchase button is greyed out. This starport never completes building the ship in the queue. I tried destroying the starport and then rebuilding it, but I get the sa

Umm, if you scroll around the tech tree, you can see the other 3 techs or what ever it needs. IT does require you to actually READ what the descriptions are, but it is there. And if you want to see more of the tech tree, just click the "more" button in the bottom left corner, and it will open the whole window up to show the tree. You can scroll arround by dragging the scr

I'll chime in on this too. It would be nice to have some way to see what techs are required to open the larger hulls so we can build more advanced ships. This isn't a gripe as I think the game is excellent, but I played for about 5 hours last night (had the best tech) and the most advanced vessels available were Defenders (I had been researching mostly military techs). Does it take this long for any of you guys to climb the ship tech tree?
