Cheers back at you Wampyre, I was mistaken in pigeon holing you with those other gamers I mentioned. They never ever, and I mean never, admit when they overreacted. I respect that alot. I hope things go alot more smoothly for you! :)

Ladies, and gentleman. Wampyre's outburst is a phenomenom I have seen before. Those rare games that have a great support base from the development team like Stardock tend to attract a certain type of gamer who feel the need to shout and whine and complain when a game doesn't go there way. They do this because it illicits a response from the developers who are very interested in supporting their product. This response in turn makes them feel more important, special, what have you. There are custo
A little warning. You can make a ton of money selling tech to the AI. However, you should be careful what you are selling them. Lets say for instance you neighbor the "friendly" Drengin (default evil setting naturally) and you select three or four techs randomly from your list that they do not have, and he offers you a handsome price. You take the money, grinning and feeling a little guilty at how easy that was, but wait! You realise that you gave him 1D Phasing, Corvette Technology, a
I have played and won two games on begginer level (though due to problems with the patch it is not apparent on the metaverse), and I have abbandoned a few more besides due to my growing pains learning the game. In my current game I am a Federalist, with economic, influence and research bonuses. Medium sized galaxy with sub-normal opponents. I decided that instead of playing this lengthier style game (my previous games were tiny galaxies) I would try play my Empire a little more realisti
Just a few moments ago, I attempted to update GalCiv. I have been having some difficulty with this the last few days. So very frustrated I went to the Chat room and made another desperate plea for help. GreenReaper who happened to be out there calmly offered to solve my problem and was able to walk me through the process of troubleshooting my problem. In a few moments I was able to download the latest patch. I was surprised to find out that he was not customer support but just another gamer, who
In the Diplomacy screen check the three status icons displayed under their picture. One of the buttons will tell you specifically how much of their income comes from trade and how much of this trade is from you. You need to have this number reasonably high, and you will see their relationship change to close, therby allowing an alliance. Be careful though. I had an alliance with the Torians and the Arceans, then out of no where the Arceans decide to declare war on a minor race forcing me to go a
I apologise if this has already been suggested, lots of posts here. Events that describe events within your Empire and impact Empire wide bonuses and policy. For Example: You belong to the Federalist party but there is growing support for a member of the Technologist Party do you: A: Challenge him to a debate to discuss the issues (no effect positive or negative) B: Begin a smear campaign digging up dirt about his college years when he spent time on the Drengin Home World and p
I am a consumer. I live in a capitalist society (the best kind going right now). I vote with my dollars on those products and services I deem of value to me. I purchased both MOOIII and GalCiv. If I knew then what I know now I would have refrained from purchasing MOOIII and I would have saved that money to buy GalCiv. FACT: MOOIII was not ready for release. It is bug ridden with a terrible AI and the worst documentation I have seen. FACT: MOOIII was not written by the same team that
I have now completed two entire games on beginner level (though you wouldn't know it as my scores are not downloading to the metaverse). In all honesty I have started far more, but quit due to what I felt was a hopeless position. I have learned quite a bit from these failed games however. Both of my victories came via Cultural Conquest. In my first game I played the Federalist party with a boost to my economic abilities, some bonuses in trade and morale. This is the game where I d
Ahh...Trade Goods. These are your number on money makers ladies and gentlemen. If you produce these items on a world they do appear under trade good in the diplo screen. You will automatically get this bonus as Mr. Lucky says, and they also bestow their bonus to anyone whom you trade them too. The real bonus comes from trading them, as most of the Alien Races, Major and Minor will pay top dollar for them. I customarily build these trade goods and then shop them to everyone offering them for
Nirvana, What is your economy like? Are you still making money or do you have a deficit? Defecit is a morale killer. Doesn't sound like it since you are still able to build transports. Another less popular option is to simply go back to Imperial Government. This way you don't need to worry about loosing control of the senate. I have yet to run into such a morale problem, mainly because I enjoy playing the smaller scale games (easier to finish in an evening). Let us know if yo
WHAT! I can't believe it, no one even mentioned Sabbath! C'mon "Symptom of The Universe", "Electric Funeral", "War Pigs", and of course "Iron Man". I also like the movie soundtracks, especially Star Wars, Hunt for Red October, even the theme from Conan the Barbarian. I need to get the soundtrack from the movie Dune (not the mini-series).
Don More is correct about the origins of Destroyers, however they have evolved since then. Destroyer class ships now, though still specializing in Anti-Submarine Warfare, they are now more of a jack of all trades in terms of their role. The latest ships of the Destroyer class are almost cruiser sized, and perform shore bombardment and land strike missions in addition to their original role as anti-submarine vessels. Though they will escort larger capital ships they are most effective as a f
