You just made the wait a lot harder No doubt. Release day can't get here fast enough! All those screenies look sweet but what impresses me the most is how tight and clean the interfaces look. PS - This site, or at least the forums, have been sluggish lately. (And you should have a custom error page driven by global.asax

I never pre-order games even when I'm 100% sure that I'll buy them (and I knew I'd buy GalCiv2 the moment I heard about it months and months ago). I have more faith in my ability to find the game here in Phoenix on release day than I do in any type of shipping. Not to mention that when it comes to something like GalCiv you can always buy the electronic download whenever (day of release). Usually I'm content to simply do electronic download but it is nice to have your own copy, a manual, and w
I appreciate things like this - I think it makes the game more interesting and feel less repetitive. It gives the game more character. It's also the kind of thing I've done on the rare occasions that I've written (very, very small and simple) games.
"Brady Hammond loves it" Who? Just because someone manages to publish their opinion online doesn't mean anything.
There are tons of games out there that have multiplayer and I don't think ALL games need to have it. In particular it seems that turn-based strategy games don't lend themselves well to multiplayer, particularly games like Civ or GalCiv where even smallish or standard games can take 4-8 hours to complete. I would think that RTS where a "map" can be won in 1-2 hours would be much more ideal, and there's no lack of that type of gameplay at all. (if anything, there's FAR too much of it
Well... I found the reviewer's writing style to be exceptionally annoying and there was really no info that anyone who casually browses this site wouldn't already know. That review was *maybe* three paragraphs of information and a page and a half of pointless rambling. I also think the reviewer rambling about products other than GalCiv2 had little relevance (and apparently wasn't even accurate). I often nitpick over Gamespot or Gamespy reviewers but even the worst of that
Seems like a partially good idea. It'd be interesting to have a transport only "carrier" ship that'd have extended range and speed to carry cheaper, smaller, low range ships out to battle. But I don't think you need to have any automated combat functionality - just have them exist as a transport type of thing only. This way you could get smaller ships designed more for combat than travel to far away battles. This wouldn't be a true carrier - it'd be a transport - so you'd need to u
What's the exact cutoff time today? Silly me, I thought the open beta with preorder thing ended ages go.
Amen
I agree with you. I haven't come close to finishing HL2 - it's just too boring. I never finished Doom3 either - that was far too boring and utterly repetitive. HL1 is so good you can actually play it several times even though you know what to do and what's gonna happen. To me there is way more to a good game than spectacular graphics. You failed to mention that the whole Steam thing is pure evil and a pain in the butt too.
I'd agree that having a decent computer makes all computing more enjoyable, particularly gaming and developing (I run VS.Net Architect and it's as big a hog as any premium game). Some of the specs I've seen mentioned here are crazy out of date - but if it still works for what you do with your computer, I guess that's cool! My core components are an AMD Athlon 64 3000 w/ 1G RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB, and 120G Maxtor SATA HD and although it's not top-of-
excess BC are lost I don't particularly like to "lose" BC but it's more realistic, if you want to talk realism. Realistically we wouldn't know the whole research tree or the exact "cost" of any given tech. Realistically you'd pour BC into research simply hoping to get useful tech and it could be a complete waste fro
