Most computer users take for granted how difficult and confusing certain "basic" functions can be. Believe it or not...but not everyone knows and understand what a zip file does. Some computer experts do not realise that the majority of computer users are your "average joe". They don't want to ruin their computer, they don't want to install something that can potential ruin their computer, they do not want to do something they totally do not understand. Granted, there are instructions and help f

I think GalCiv CD comes with DirectX9.0. But I didn't install it because I didn't know what it does to my pc. ~SDC~
I read on a thread somewhere that they will email you once it has been sent. If you haven't received the email...then they haven't sent it. ~SDC~
Hello everyone from stardock central! Just received my copy of the game and downloaded SD Central. ~SDC~
Darn darn and darn again! My copy of GalCiv came this morning!!! But I wasn't home! So it will be delivered tomorrow >:( Bloody work! If I didn't had to go to work I would be playing galciv right now....actually if I didn't go to work I wouldn't be able to buy galciv :)
I agree. I do not miss tactical combat (ala SEIV and MOO) nor do I miss customising ships (actually I do a bit ;p ). However, allowing the formation of fleets in such a way that the fleet attack in unison is a good idea. Furthermore, this aspect will make GalCiv better than Civ in terms of combat.
I don't think it sounds silly. Some games are now released exclusively on a DVD case. I don't like that. There is something about buying a game and having a huge box. I know that you will eventually throw the box away...but it makes one's purchase seem worthwhile. :D
Mythor, was the name of your existing empire?
Okay I found some pictures. They are not 32x32 but they are small :) Maybe you can shrink these? http://www.aje.com.au/australian_flag.gif http://www.discountimmig.co.nz/images/flag-au.gif http://www.acroglobal.com/images/austrlfl.jpg
Hmm...sounds good mythor. I will do my part to find one. Just one question though...how can you tell if a certain picture is 32x32?
Another thing I want to add after reading all of the above post is this: Was there any point during your game time that you thought to yourself "Yes. I made the right decision in buying the game."
Von Ravend I will think of you when I am playing the game in the next few days :)
From my understanding, Irishfan, is this: If you order directly from stardock you will receive the CD with the manual as pdf format on the acutal CD. The CD will comes in a DVD case. However, with this option you can also download the game while you wait for delivery (which will happen mid-april). I'm from Australia and I ordered mine from EBgames.com which has a slightly higher delivery fee. However they have the box, plus the manual as a small booklet and the CD. Furthermore,
Two headed squirrels? Serious? :)
My copy of GalCiv is being shipped sometime in the next 3 to 4 days. Its a lazy Sunday night and all I want to do is play GalCiv...but I can't...so in a effort to subdue my excitement I decided to create this thread. Please tell me things (good things) that surprised you when you started to play GalCiv. Tell us some of the cool things that took you by surprise. Funny battles, weird animations, funny galciv stories etc etc
Ignore my previous post. I didn't realise that this thread is 5 pages long :D But now that I have read all five pages I realise what I posted was what everyone knew. I'm going to go and sleep.
I think he gave intelligence and difficulty 3.5 stars not 2?
Looking at the map, I noticed that Empire Number 4 (Apolyton) is slowly taking over Empire Number 10 (Orion Masters). My question is this: If Apolyton increase in their score and the Orion Masters' score remain the same will the Apolyton eventually take over the Orion Masters?
Mythor, do you want to create an "Aussie" Empire?
I have been told that the cd will be shipped mid-april.
BTW, I just noticed that in order to submit your score to the metaverse you must provide a serial number. If you guys get copies from other aussies would this mean you can't submit scores because the serial number is already taken?? Can anyone confirm this? Cheers
24 and still growing strong. My first ever computer was a Sega. Yes a Sega! It came with a keyboard and a couple of games. You could program and stuff. However, you use the TV as the monitor. I then got an Atari 2600 and have amassed 30 games for it. Games like pitfall, boxing, indiana jones, the whoeful ET etc etc. After than I got a gameboy. This was when the gameboy was thick and bulky. I also amassed 30 games for that. I then bought a second gameboy because my father wanted to play
Hi Guys, Just a couple of comments to all aussies in this board: 1. Should we create an "Aussie" Empire? It will be very interesting to see who joins us and how well we do against those "yanks" :) 2. Hmmm...I should have downloaded it on my 56K as well. Darn...I spent $115 on the game from ebgames.com. Oh well. 3. Isn't illegal if we burnt the game and give it to others? (I'm a newbie to computers so please do not get offended by this question. I'm just an old
Reply to #48: So does that mean we won't see you on the board for a while? LOL
I'm going to bump this because there are a few anti-galciv threads on this board....plus I want to see Brad's head increase in size ;)
