You need to hit 70 to move it up to the "good" (or it would be chaotic good). You get considered "saintly" when you cross over 90. Takes awhile to get there, but you get some killer improvements at that point. SeanB

I tend to believe in what I've coined the "Alpha Strike" tactic, where I stage as many of my ships as I can spare across as many of their planets as I can. When I'm ready for war, I literally take out every single thing I can in that one turn. With any luck, you will snag a few of their planets, and leave their military in such a shambles they'll be hard pressed to strike back. After the alpha strike, depending on how well it went, you can sue for peace, and re-enforce your ships. Or

I think alot of who they surrender to and when depends on how much respect they had for you. In my most recent game, I was pleasantly surprised when the Torians and the Drengins both surrendered to me instead of someone else. The big difference here was that they were treated relatively decently by me for most of the game leading up to the war, at which point I just flat overwhelmed them. It's either that or my saintly alignment did it (the rationale being, they're surrendering to some

I personally don't mind the policy. Its not that terribly restrictive either. You don't need a stardock account. And why should stardock let any old person download a copy of the patch? I personally enjoy this system over being forced to have a the CD-Rom in my computer just to verify copy protection.

There are plenty of posts out there where people have managed to fend off the AI without firing a single shot and without necessarily having a superior military. Alot of it boils down to superior diplomacy, trade routes and alignment. Basically if your alignment is good, the good races will typically not bother you so much, even if the military is somewhat weaker. Make no mistake, this game is about galactic domination. If I saw an empire right next to me that is so grossly inferior,
The only way you are going to bring the White Council down (not that we really care) is to have a negative score (apparently it is possible).Well, I'm not going to post anymore of this empire stuff in this thread. Let's just sit back and enjoy the music.
*makes a grunt sound Tim Allen would make, and you see several question marks over my head*

Probably a simpler way depending upon your symptoms. If you click the turn button, and the clock icon stays there indefinitely, it generally means that you didn't click through all your planets where construction was completed on something. At the start of each turn you usually get a construction complete report, after which you click next on all your planets until the last planet you view has the done button. Now if you find a way to kill out of that before going through al

To expand a bit on Code Monkey's question #3, did you do the following yet? 1. Click on the Metaverse link on this page 2. Click register your player with the metaverse 3. Type the alias and CD-Key to use in posting scores to the Metaverse? If you haven't done the above three yet, you will need to do it before your scores post. Generally when you post scores to the metaverse, they will show up immediately

I'd love to see something similar to what MOO2 did with the Antarans, where you'd have some mysterious race thats uber powerful pull a hit and run attack on a planet, devastating it. This added the victory condition of finding a way into the Antaran's dimension and destroying them. I think it'd add to a story if there was some menacing race that has marked the universe for extinction or something.

As odd as this sounds, placing more friendly planets near the affected planet helps (either through colonizing whatever you can or conquest). Since these planets carry an influence value, they will in turn help out the overall cause of keeping that periphery system intact. The problem is if you have this one rogue little colony surround by a bunch of other colonies all by itself, it's going to be hard to keep it from flipping.

I'm not sure I'd like the idea just because it'll eliminate some of the skill component out of the scoring (ie, what if someone finds a really quick way to beat the computer, alliance victories, etc) Metaverse scores apparently taken into account your economic status, military status and the like through the scores which in turn rates your dominance in the game. (ie someone winning masochistic convincingly should beat out someone who just barely survived) Those are just my tho

I dont think morale would completely do it. I've lost a couple worlds even though I had several ships in orbit and had 100 morale. What *really* helps is the influence suggestions I'm seeing (+influence socials on the planet and cultural starbases nearby). The other thing that helps out is items that provide cultural resistance. Evil empires get all kinds of these items, and their purpose is to counteract the cultural flipping that can take place in your situation. Putting u

The big thing I like about playing good is the social improvement Trade Center. That item alone gives some insane bonuses for zero maintenance, plus the trade monument that boosts your trade by 20%. The Trade Center is something like +15 manufacture +15 influence +15 morale +15 economy +15 research zero maintenance. So from that standpoint its huge. On the upper level games, you can take advantage of the evil races because they'll likely hit darkside and artificial slaves,

I hate to say this, but if the tech victory is not what you're after, your other option is to make yourself even bigger by taking out the Torians, and then bringing your entire force to bear. You should be able to find planets that aren't that heavilly guarded and invade, and work your way from there. If your influence is signficantly greater than this, you'll cause a few flips to take place on subsequent turns. But if that isn't successful, then Staffa is quite right, that's what your tech v
