I call them the great equalizers. Hopelessly outclassed by AI? Churn them out and have a turkey shoot. Tough avatar orbiting a system? Have it eat a missle and the road is clear. The AI doesn't respond in kind. AI AMMs invariably get shot up by human ships while floating around the galaxy. I don't recall losing anything significant to date in all my games to AI AMMs. The solutions are either to teach the AI to use them much more effectively or to make them less effective as sug

You shouldn't be using them as your actual warcraft after the beginning of the game, but I've found that corvettes stacked into a fleet are actually capable of defending against dreadnoughts and avatars with minimal losses. So This surely is some kind of bug that myself and Drank have also noticed previously. I ran the simulator on dreadnought vs corvette and in 10,000 trials, the dreadnought would win 100% of the time with 1hp loss. The avatar would win 100% of the time without damage.
Thanks T-man! Sorry but I'm a bit slow. How do we do edits?
Dikdirk, I'm certainly planning to join your GOTM once I'm done with my own mission of getting experience with smaller maps and simultaneously reaching the 20 wins mark (for that sexy blue medal) :D
Check out Javascout's Galciv database (sticky in Galactic Forum). It tells you the prerequisite alignment (0-100) that you need to have research the various good and evil techs.
It really depends on your favoured style. If you are a builder, you would want a balanced approach at that stage by getting up some military (to stave off friendly visits for donations), your basic industry (go with PQ enhancers and zero maintenance ones first) and also cheap but very useful techs (trade comes to mind). If you are more a warmonger, just follow what the Drengins do and rush ship tech and go on a rampage. U would still need some good industrial muscle to churn out those w
Really Norin, isn't it time for you to stop watching reruns and start playing Galciv? :)
Brad, If the metaverse becomes too much of a pain to manage, would suggest Stardock remove the scoring aspect of it but leave the game records (version, morality, galaxy size, difficulty, victory type) for our reference. I'm sure the community would continue to support the other aspects of the metaverse (improving AI, AI-player simulation) by submitting our games even without the motivation of competiting. If you can spare some engineering hours, grant us an "ironman"
I support this. A Technical/Support/Bug Forum would also be nice.
I believe most of us would agree that tweaking metaverse scoring takes a much lower priority than the impt stuff mentioned above. In fact, I see it as a huge compliment to the game that many players are harping on the Metaverse rather than the actual game. There is this confidence that the game is already solid and that there is clear evidence that Stardock is committed to improving this game (at an amazing speed). :)
Don't think the edit function is only available by posting using Stardock Central cause I've seen others editing theirs without SDC. Capt Bizarre, The issue I have with transcending races leaving empty worlds/resources behind is the potential exploitation by humans by staging colony ships or constructors in preparation for alien transcendence.
Capt, How do you do your edits?
Sorry, I meant "not been an issue for me ". I usually pick up entertainment networks, stadiums and keep my tax rate about 40-45% and if possible morale resources. Once you terraform your planets, your morale shoots back up.
I saw Citizens with [message edited] in their posts. Did Admins edit their posts?
Anyone knows how I can do edits? Saw others doing it...
Obisidi0n, That really sounds a problem with your game or save. You shouldn't be thrashed in that manner on 71%. You may want to get Stardock to look at it. Personally, winning senate elections has not been an issue for you. I really can't remember losing my last election.
Yup, most Metaverse participants I believe stopped downloading Library mods (personally I deleted all mods except Frogboy's, never used the Terra mods) when they mentioned that it could affect the scoring. I agree with H5-O that this is adversely affecting the interest to mod.
I manually pilot Hero if I can. I like to leave the research anomalies to the end if possible (on big maps). Definitely go for ship techs for your favourite ships as they are expensive to trade (for some reason, Turbo Phasers for Battle Cruisers is cheap). Unless you have lots of trade credits to spare. Grab everything. One more for you is one less for others. Look at the research expenditure (top right) in the domestic screen.
Bobo, Join "The Empire" empire?
Noticed some interesting discussions going on in various threads and not knowing which to throw my suggestions to, have decided to start my own thread. I’ll try to be concise. Issue 1 Comments about achieving military parity with AIs to prevent war are valid. It would seem that it does not really matter if all you have are starfighters or AMMs and that they are all parked in the corner of a gigantic galaxy leaving all your colonies undefended. Your comparable mili
I believe you get to toggle victory conditions with the bonus pack. I recommend upgrading to 1.03 though.
Some other suggestions from me: 1) If you find a +1 weapon or warship early, don't be scared to suppress one major. 2) Rush trade goods either to get techs/funds or for bribery 3) Basic principle of trading long term commitments for short term benefits 4) Forget about seizing resources as constructors and SBs are expensive (maybe economics or military). 5) Get the military powers to fight asap 6) Trade for Turbo Phasers and go for military rush, going from weakest (m

Borrowing from LOTR, Imperium Galactica is in my opinion personified by the Wizards, continually trying to push the brackets of magic in their ivory towers, all the while watching worldly pursuits with much bemusement. I can see Elvish and Entish empires among us, either reclusive or hibernating, deep in their slumber. There are also rowdier Orcish, Dwarven and Human empires fighting it out on the plains of Middle Earth. Lastly, the laid back Hobbit empires smoking the
Thanks for the compliments, MM77. I'm sure you would also be beater the higher levels once you get the hang of it. As for early invasions, the minors are basically pushovers and you could usually crush them with 1 transport per system. The AIs usually have lots of pop but the random number generator really works in your favour as the defender usually gets between 2-3 on their defense but the attacker can range from 4 to 10+.
