I switch to full Vista the day before the official release. I have some naggin unhappinesses with the Nvidia drivers but they are getting better other than that I am very happy with it. Having said that I am not upgrading the wife's or kids' machine with it. Not enough horsepower there. But on the Core 2 Duo T7600 in my laptop it smokes. Dual booting by the way, Vista 32, upgraded over my XP and then Mepis 6.5 beta 7 64-bit on the second harddrive.

Now if Nvidia would only get thier act together on drivers I would be a happy camper. Oh well... Thanks for the update. I quiver with antici------------------------------- pation.
I agree I have had widescreen laptops now since 2004 and I really get tired of downloading things only to ahve to delete them because they look like cr*p on the screen. Even if a separate section is too much trouble some sort of flag to indicate widescreen would really be nice, for anything, walls, dreams, etc.
I have never regretted a peeny spent on my ODNT subscription. And now after almost 8 years as a member I am even more excited about new things brought about by the technologies in Vista than Iwas when going from Win9x to Win2K or XP. Oh great amphibian king, hasten thou workers to bring hither new eye candy and coolest toys.
AH-HA! Fixed it. Even though Aero was loaded, I went into WBConfig and forced a reload of Windows Aero. The screen flickered and even went to a Win 2K look for a few seconds. Then Aero came back. I then selected a skin, clicked apply and it loaded just fine. Thanks for the ideas everyone. Have a good weekend!
I was using 100 sieries drivers with the Laptop2Go INF but had to roll back because of an incompatibility between a couple of games with the 100 series. But the problem didn't come from that as it was working fine for a couple of days. It was deffinitely to bogus update that broke things. I now have the correct version installed however now nothing ever happens when I click Apply My Settings. No skin, no errors, nothing. I also get an error in SDC the first time I try to instal
I ran SDC this morning and it said I had 5.49f installed even though I was sure I had installed 5.5 release. I went ahead and did a re-install and now WB will not work correctly. I have removed, rebooted, and re-installed several time. I even deleted everything except the skin folders without any success. Interestingly enough when I go to reinstall it wlays shows me 5.49 f beta. Unless I force released versions only. I am running Vista Ultimate x23 and when I install I get a message say
I feel an overwhelming warm and fuzzy wafting over me. Thanks for the info!
I have been waiting for the release of Dreamscenes and Dreamscapes for quite some time. I have grabbed both today and am a bit disappointed that when I try to load either one I get an error telling me that I can only use it if the Aero interface is loaded. They won't load with WindowBlinds. Earlier non-official releases of Dreamscenes did not have this problem but the current one does. And I'm also terribly unpset that the insta
Very nice, and certainly worth sharing.
I really like the new look except for one small thing. I personally prefer to have the menu/links bar on the left as it was before. Though I can certainly understand moving it to the right side ala Vista sidebar. It would be cool if it were configurable. Other than that it looks great.
I haven't looked a lot yet, but is there a list of the Object Desktop programs that are, and I guess by inference are not compatible with Windows Vista?
In related news SQL Server 05 shows no appreciable decrease in the acceleration of my 2003 Tiburon GT. Though it does seem to make getting from 5th to 6th gear a bit more difficult.
Hi-def etch-a-sketch!
World of Warcraft will be ported to run on several cell phones. Eight WoW addicts will be killed while fighting traffic and kobolds at the same time. The subsequent debate over natural selection will force Bush to declare martial law in 12 states and Puerto Rico, while continuing to deny the entropy at work in his own gene pool.
Yummy! Kung Poa Chicken over Fried Drive...
I was searching through email today and ran across the original email from Stardock with my ODNT serial number. I bought my first subscription 17 February 1999. So in two months I will have been an ODNT subscriber for 7 years. Wow, the changes I have seen.
Very nice work. I would certainly use the WB and cursor set. The only real critique I havew on the WB is that I might recommend maintaining the diagonal curved and squared coerners on all eliments, all the sections of the start menu as well as the program windows and dialogs. But I can't be sure without having seen it both ways. Like I said this is very goood and I would happily use it as is... Will you be carrying over the cursor look to t
I was just wondering what the plans for 64 bit Vista support for Object Desktop's components were. Anything that can be shared yet?
Is there any word on Vista 64 bit support? I have a Core 2 Duo and would prefer not to roll back to 32 bit,
I have used GRUB most of the time. I personally prefer it to LILO. You can easily edit the GRUYB menu in the BOOT directory on the system partition of your Linux installation. Specifically it is usually in \boot\brug\menu.lst. Another option I have taken to using lately is to use the Windows boot nemu and a program called bootpert.exe that will build a boot file from your Linux install and then edit the BOOT.INI file in the root of the Windows system p
The image quality is very good. For special ues it is certainly good to have some blank media on hand. But I would never switch entirely to lightscribe disks because of the cost. I'd say get some disks to use now and then but use regular disks for most thing. The technology has now b een out long enough I suspect the lasers can handle it. Its not like you are likely to get burned by the "first generation" curse.
Continual reboot prompt. I have installed WB 5.5 beta on my Vista x64 final install. Every time I try to load it I get the "Reboot" to enable prompt. I have the user account control turned off completely and going through the Defender logs I can see where it allowed vistasrv.exe and wbconfig were permitted. Interestingly enough wb config is added to RunOnce, which sort of surprises me. I have nothing else installed for registry or script protection except what comes with Vista. The
I have a core 2 duo mobile running at 2 Ghz, and can barely imagine how fast quad must be. Makes me feel all squiggly inside.
This is the final sign of the Apocolypse.
