I have a core 2 duo t7600 with 4 GB RAM and there is no way XP is even close to as fast as Vista 64 on this system. And I tested it by installing both on this system with default settings and ran several benchmarks. Now I will admit that Vista 32 prior to SP1 was slower, but 64 was faster even before SP1. Wom. You are confusing Wincustomize, not even in existance when I started subscribing to the Object Desktop Network software collection. ODNT has to my knowledge always been subscription based. And if I'm not mistaken Neil wasn't with Stardock yet when I started. The cursor program was a seperate application that was aquired later. And I had already purchased it prior to it becoming Stardock. Neil correct an old man's fuzzy memory if need be.

Tomorrow is an auspicious day for me in my relationship with Stardock. On February 19th, I will officially have been a subscriber to Object Desktop for ten full years! Stardock will get us the updated compatible versions of their programs as soon as they can. Windows 7 compatibility is, I suspect, one of their top priorities. Emails like the "petition" for programs to be released are not appropriate, nor are they at all helpful. Geez people give them time to do the work needed to make things compatible with a new beta fo Windows that has some obvious low level changes to the architecture directly related to many of the Stardock programs such as Windowblinds

I use a Logitech MX Revolution with a Nova Killer 2 mouse pad. Great combination. However wireless is lass responsive by several miliseconds...however if you go high frequency RF for the wireless mouse the difference becomes negligable the higher the RF goes. The Killer 2 is surfaced specifically for laser mice and tracks extremely well. Mouse movement is very smooth and with the SteelSeries mouse pads underneath it glides really well. I'm really glad y'all enjoyed that. Back when I was first using Stardocks products these were almost always the walls I used. It would be tough to top his work, wouldn't it? But there are some really creative artists in this community. I think some of them would be up to the challenge.

AMD and laptop do not make for a good combination. Acer makes goos sysems for the most part though I am not familiar with their laptops. Do you play games? If so you want dedicated video memory. The 9600 M is a good video subsystem. Do you have an external monitor? if so pay attention to what resolution is supported on external as well as on internal. Again, this matters if you game much. Also check cnet.com for reviews in the price range you want.

If you can get Vista drivers for your laptop try those. Almost no XP drivers will work. It is poissible that some drivers for Vista may not work, but that is going to be rare. Also you may need to try each device's manufacturer to get Vista drivers. Is your XP partition NTFS or is it still FAT32?
For what it is worth IE8 is now RC1. Technically speaking (in MS's mind) that is not really a beta any more. The difference is that now the bar by which a problem is judged to be a "show stopper" or not has gone WAY up by roughly an order of magnitude. So though I know Stardock has a lof of compatibility work to do to accomodate IE8 and Win 7, it is certainly time to pay some attention to IE8 compat issues.

Not on my dev machine or my primary work machine mind you. But on the system I used whenever I'm not at my desk. It appears the issue with Logon Studio lies in a problem with x64 Vista and Win 7, But there is a work around available.
