This title was funnier when I thought he was talking about Windows Explorer. Draknost has uttered truths...

Sounds like a challenge to me! Or CTRL-N
I have a laptop that I play the game on but often I do not have an internet connection. I would like to be able to update the game without having to find a hotspot. What is the easiest way to update the game without using Stardock (connected to the internet). Thanks!
I'm using Beta 2b and you can click on an individual ship to remove it from the fleet. You can also disband the entire fleet. I also think that in addition to being able to upgrade individual ships within a fleet, it would be nice to be able to upgrade the entre fleet at once. I think some right click options on fleets would fit the bill.
1) Increased diplomatic options as posted by many people. The only way I can get the Drengin to behave is to declare war. It would be nice to be able to coerce them in various ways. Or use allies to coerce them. Even when I have overwhelming military, I can’t get anyone to make peace with other races. 2) It would be nice to be able to also get races to align themselves with you (at great cost, naturally). I mean that if you are playing "Good" and the Yor are "Neutral" it w
I would also like to see a tool tip popup that lets you know how many weeks left you have on your leases. So in the Domestic screen, when you mouse over the Lease line it will open a window that lists the leases you have and number of weeks until paid off.
We need to be able to upgrade fleets or rather have a shortcut key and button to upgrade individual ships when you pick them in the stack or fleet, I find my self moving the ship to empty space so i can click the upgrade button. Agreed. You should be able to upgade the entire fleet at once OR select
I bought a colony ship early on with a 17bc lease for 187 weeks and I cannot find out when that lease will be up. Is this information available? It would be nice if there were a pop-up tool tip from the economic screen.

Can anyone clue me in?
The only reason I am is asking is because I want to see how the AI proceeds throughout a game to learn it's strategies and improve mine. I don't plan on playing games that way, just want to know. Also, is there a way to find out which level the AI is set to when a game has started? I'm in a game now that should be Challenging all around, but the AI is not doing anything, as if it is on Easy or something. Thanks.
Littlewotts, we were talking specifically about Campaign Scenario 3. Although the title is "AP tips" the first message was re: scenario 3. Have you played that? Trading techs with the Altarians in that scenario doesn't work because the AI will not trade evenly (even though we're supposed to be a team).
I don't get how you can possibly expect to keep up in research if you have your spending set so low. You will NEVER get to dreadnought before you are completley annihilated by combat transports. How many planets does the AI typically have once colonization is over? And by the way, you cannot hide your vessels, the AI has no fog of war or shroud. I've moved scout ships to the four corners of the map and had them just guard there. Eventually the EXCALIBUR would come and kill them. Bu
A major problem with level 3 is that the Altarians are very poor allies. Where if it were two human players against the AI they would share techs generously, the Altarians DO NOT. I am lucky to get 1 tech in exchange for three, even if diplomatic levels are about equal. Another thing; THAT IS NOT AN AVATAR,it is an Excalibur. Not that it matters, because I can't even get to battleship tech before I am eliminitated, but if I were to somehow figure this level out and get to Avatars, it
I too am having difficulty with this level (as much as I hate to admit it) and I've been playing this game for a while. Paul, you say get dreadnaughts ASAP, butalso get Eyes of the Universe. Sensors and such are not on the path to dreadnought. But if I don't get sensors I can only see the transports when they are AT MY PLANET. So no time to make corvettes or anything. And even if I DO make corvettes, the AIs transports WINS THE BATTLE half the time! So how do you make corvettes that can bea
OK, so what gives you points in the social category? Economic? Military? I also thought high population was awarded more points, is that correct? And I guess what Ellestar was trying to say, briefly and enigmatically, was that the harder the settings the more points you get? That doesn't seem to be true. I'm playing Bright opponents now but my highest score game came from normal opponents on a gigantic map.
I am not exactly sure how to increase my score for the metaverse (not that it matters too much, but I am curious). I noticed on Staffa's games he played mostly gigantic maps so that would mean large populations and big income, but he has a score of 3,000+ on a TINY map! How'd he get that score? On a tiny map? If someone could break it down for me I'd appreciate it.
The short answer is: No. You cannot win without some military. But apparently you can fool the AI into leaving you alone. I was playing Normal settings for a while and just started with the more difficult settings. It's a lot harder to maintain the edge and keep the AI off your back. But it does seem that if you survive until Dreadnaught tech, your chances of winning double. And if at the end of any turn your military is twice any other society's, you can win the game any way you w
Thanks, I tried that. The problem is when I re-installed Stardock, I could see the entire list. It was only after it updated itself and restarted that the list was missing. All I can see are all the stickied posts as well as about 4 or 5 others. :notsure:
OK, thanks for the clarification. :)
I traded the Alexians for Frictionless Clothing, but when I go to trade with someone else, it does not list it in my assets. What gives? Also, I know I have seen more than one race with these "one-of-a-kind" trade goods. Doesn't make sense. :notsure:
Thanks, glad to hear I'm not the only one.
What? No. That does not ring a bell. I was away for awhile. Did something happen?
I updated Galactic Civ with the Stardock updates but when I right click on the .exe file it says it is version 1.01. I thought we were supposed to be updated to version 1.02. How can I tell I have the right update? ~SDC~
OK, here's another wierd thing. It's only the general discussions. The Strategies forum seems to be working fine.
