OK, that was wierd. As I reinstalled, I could see all the threads again, but when the Stardock upgraded itself and restarted, they were gone. :notsure:
Badbonez
It worked fine before with stardock. Now I can't see the threads, but I can with my browser. Maybe I'll try an re-install.
There used to be many, many threads on this forum through stardock, but now I only see 6 that aren't stickied. Where they moved? ~SDC~
So game magazine sites know more then game fansites? :) ~SDC~
Page unavailable on your link but maybe one of your ships was on autopilot and was going to run into the other race's ship. . ~SDC~
LOL Thanks Augusten! ~SDC~
Hmmm...in a game like this, paying for and maintaining a huge military force without using it seems wasteful. If you have the biggest stick, start beating the war drums. Unfortunately that leads to only one victory condition. Sure, you could decide to have the biggest military and not use it, but you know in the back of your mind you could win militarily. And Augusten, I don't meant to say that it won't eventually show up with a combat transport, they just don't bring one along with
It looks really good! But the arrows are pointing the wrong way, right? ~SDC~
I know it refers to turn-based games, but why 4x? Thanks. ~SDC~
How about getting the AI to actually coordinate an attack. Instead of sending 1 ship every few turns to die at my planet's defenses. I still haven't seen the AI take one of my defended planets. (Note: I am still pretty new, so if anyone has seen this tell me.) And while the AI is at it, if it sees 3 or 4 of its biggest and baddest get decimated at a particular planet, maybe it should look for a softer target. It seems to be pretty myopic when it comes to a plan. Once the plan is m
I usually play with the Alignments set to Random...the Drengin seem to play the same no matter what their alignment is, good or evil they will expand fast, extort cash and get ganged up on by the other AIs. The text of their messages that they send may be a little nicers, but in the end they always play the same. Alignment doesn't seem to matter. ~SDC~
Hey Elkku, good point. I was going to bring that up myself. Why is it that only the human player needs universal translators? Sometimes I meet a race to trade with and I can trade them UTs. I guess theoretically the AI that doesn't have UTs can only talk to other races with UTs. But still, in the beginning they don't have them, how are they able to trade for technologies? Lease or not to lease? In a game I just started I leased, I am 50 turns in or so and very sorry to see my 5bc/
15+ planets? I guess you aren't using Loose Clusters and yellow suns=Rare. But I will try these ideas out. I think I read somewhere that the AI knows the starting location of all the planets. I think that helps too because it always beats me to the yellow stars. Thanks everyone! :D ~SDC~
I'm playing Normal...which to me means the AI should be, uh, normal. And I am not accusing the AI of cheating nor did I say it was playing intelligently. It just seems that we are not starting on an even playing field. Maybe they start off with more money or something. But right now, the AI expands so fast and there does not appear to be any defecit when I look at the graphs. The lines just go up and up and up, while mine dip here and there then level off, go up a bit, dip, level off. <
I don't like to restart a game just because I didn't get an optimal starting position. The game should be designed so that even if you are somehow isolated from every other society, you still have a chance to come out on top. If victory is dependant upon starting positions then something's wrong. Like I said, in this game I am in I did not have the chance to meet any races to trade with until too late. As for leasing, it seems that if you lease even once you're too far in the hole fo
Jeez...now why didnt I think of that? [/Sarcasm off] I would have traded if there was anyone around to trade with. There aren't. And by the time I do find someone I am already at least four techs behind. And this isn't an isolated game, this happens a lot. The first race I meet has already four techs more than me. Maybe it has traded, but by then I am too far behind. It doesn't want any of my crummy techs. Besides, if that were true, you would just pump 100% into research, and not worry
I struggle to get 2 or three colonies going as well as maintain a balance economy of social/military and research. But whenever I meet an AI race and try to trade with them, they already have 4 more techs than me. And this is usually within 12 months (turns). Not only is the AI more techologically advanced, but they also have more colonies and more military. Usually we're even in population. So how does the AI races get so far ahead so quickly? And I know they could trade with minor races,
I went ahead and made room in the parking lot of the planet and that resolved the problem. If you want me to send the save game though, let me know. ~SDC~
The planet shown below is making a battleship each turn. As you can see the planet only produces 4 military shields but still, everyturn I get a BB. The parking is full on the game, so maybe that has something to do with it? I have saved this game at this point so if you want me to UL the saved game I can. http://www.kjcrowley.com/images/BBperturn.jpg ~SDC~
"I stack ships with SBs all the time; that shouldn't be a problem..." Then why, when I have a route that may pass through a starbase, do they go around? ~SDC~
How do your ships travel through the sector? My ships don't seem to be able to travel over starbases. ~SDC~
Well, this isn't really that big of an issue, more like a very minor design suggestion. ~SDC~
OMG...this is a game, not an accounting program. I already know which of my planets will build fastest, I have chosen the planet I want to build this on regardless of that. Just remove it from the list. ~SDC~
Let me re-phrase. I want a list that tells me what modules are AVAIALABLE to be added to starbases, not a list of what are already installed. ~SDC~
All that does is tell me what is installed, it does NOT tell me what I can install. So if I have researched 30 techs, and some would give me resource modules, the only way to know what I can add to a starbase is to read through EACH AND EVERY tech to see what I can install, then go to EACH AND EVERY starbase to see what is installed, then cross those off the list. Too much of a pain. I like the detail of information in the game, but I don't seem to get the right information all the tim
