I have severe CTD problems with the latest version. Can I roll it back to the previous version without completely reinstalling? My dial up connection makes it difficult to pull things down from stardock, especially the first update. If the answer to this is no then how do I download the first update without it being 84 MB. I apologize for asking this again, but I read the previous threads and could never get the smaller version of the update to appear. It took me over 9 hours to downloa

One of the land based civ games gave an "iron man" option, where the game was only saved on exit. This would seperate real warriors from those who win by reloading every time they stubbed a toe.

One easy way to make the game more challenging would be to have some AI teams declare war and attack early in the game. I have used this tactic to great effect myself. Even with minimal fire support, a few loaded transports can wreak major death from above before battleaxes appear. This would keep the human player from feeling safe to concentrate on social and tech issues early on.

Morale definitely decreases as population grows. When your morale drops below 50% your population will stop increasing. People are happier on better planets so they can keep growing longer.

Of course it cheats. A human can outplay even the best AI in any reasonably complex game. A good human player can still beat any computer in the world even in a game as simple and calculation intensive as go, Which is a finite zero sum game played by placing black and white stones on a 19X19 grid. If the AI played by the same rules and restrictions as a skilled human opponent it would get crushed every time unless there was a concerted ganging up by multiple computer teams.

This game has been presented as a competition among players to create the most efficient winning algorithm, and thereby post the highest score. In order for this competition to be fair the playing field should be leveled by making the game mechanics available.
