I don't think it is because you lack universal translators. Did you install and add-ons from the library? I experienced the same problem after installing several of the mods. After a clean install and re-update to 1.03 the problem went away.
Omniscitor
There is a "govenors override production" option in the menu, do you have this enabled?
I play im massive galaxis so scouts are a must. Try building lots of them as they have no maintenance. Then use them to surround resources and planets to keep the AI off them until your colonists or constructors arrive.
Typing is always better than sliding. If I could type in values for military/social/techno spending it would be like adding several hours to my lifespan.
I have experienced this problem as well. try restarting the game, or rebooting and then restarting. I have also seen a case where this happened, I restarted the game and the problem went away, but then I met the Archaens twenty turns later and they still had their starting planet, money, and population. I watched them for a few turns and they never did anything. I think the eternal clock occurs because of a bug in processing the AI turns. It's as if the program couldn
I have been taking creativity (and speed +2 :) ) for several games, but after a couple of hundred turns I have yet to reap any benefit. I play all my games on the biggest galaxy at maximum difficulty and usually lose in 6 or 7 years. Do these events only occur after some minimum time has passed? Has anyone seen a major event take place in the first year?
The game is well balanced and offers a genuine choice of strategies.
I noticed this too. I tend to play close to the -500 limit and was suprised to have fallen below it on several occasions despite careful monitoring of my economy. Yes I had a 13 point planet.
After you update from stardock, look at the window on the left with a picture of a drengin on it. Near the bottom is a link that says "history" or something to that effect. Clicking on it will tell you what was changed. Don't expect muchinfo though, you will have to figure most of it out yourself. So far I have noticed that constructors cost 200 instead of 150 and sensor drones cost 40 instaed of 10. I suppose this is warranted as I had taken to building swarms of sens
Aldar, did you install the bonus pack from stardock? I just reinstalled an reupgraded to .049 and the problems have gone away. Thankfully the total file was only 4.8 meg instead of 86, so it only took about 15 minutes for the whole procedure. Maybe you should give it a try.
everything now runs fine After re-installing and upgrading to .049 again. I think it was one of the mods.
I have never in my life seen the kind of immediate tech support provided for this game. I hope it catches on.
I have it set to autosave every turn since it is crashing so frequently. I just reinstalled from scratch and am updating from stardock as I type this. Your reply to someone on another thread made me think that something I downloaded from the library may be causing the problem.
Yes, I installed almost everything in the library. Maybe that is the problem. I guess I will try a clean install.
The game crashes when I hit end turn. I have it saved at this point. here is the .cra and .err info: Stardock SmartException Logging Information ------------------------------------------- OS Version : Windows XP Video Card : RADEON 9700 PRO Application Exception code: C0000094 INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO Crash Addr: 004B804F 01:000B704F D:\GAMES\GALCIV\galciv.exe Processor Registers (x86): EAX:00007FC3 EBX:7FFDF000 ECX:0A411C78 EDX:00000000
Ok thanks, I submitted the .cra and .err files under the bug report thread.
Does anyone have an archived copy of the previous release they can mail me?
In th future I will send this stuff to the bug report thread. ;)
I have a new reproducible bug. this one appears to be caused by a UP event. I can see the name of the logfile in smart exception but clicking submit report doesn't seem to do anything. Here is the wordpad version: Stardock SmartException Logging Information ------------------------------------------- OS Version : Windows XP Video Card : RADEON 9700 PRO Application Exception code: C0000094 INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO Crash Addr: 004B804F 01:000B704F D:\GAMES\GALCIV\galci
I have directed all of this to the AAAArgh!!!! thread
Ok I found the .cra file (I diddn't realize it was created in the root directory). When I open it with smart exception the box is blank. I opened it with wordpad and this is what I got: Stardock SmartException Logging Information ------------------------------------------- OS Version : Windows XP Video Card : RADEON 9700 PRO Application Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION Crash Addr: 005A73D9 01:001A63D9 D:\GAMES\GALCIV\galciv.exe Processor Regis
I have three threads running on this topic so I will restrict myself to this one as best I can. I have a dual boot 98/XP machine with the game installed under both operating systems. XP has no sound drivers installed so I don't think it is a sound problem.
where is it? (sorry about the double threading)
I have onboard sound on my motherboard, I beleive it is audigy 97. The game crashes every time I try to load a game when it is running (as opposed to when I first start it) I also had a crash just after a computer team (yor?) completed aphrodisiacs. If you tell me where I can find the logfile I will generate a smart exception report.
Keep looking; I think it's under the death force resource.
