I shall join today, Pontius - and I'll use my day off tomorrow to attempt to qualify for a seat in the G.R.O.S.S. senate... ;) (Let's just hope that in doing so, I don't lower our mighty empire's score - assuming the Metaverse is functional anyway!) Hmmm... conspiracy theory here - I suspect it's those blasted ALIEN SCUM that are behind the problems with the Metaverse. Ya think Brad's really a human? (After all, the guy works harder than anyone I've ever known.) Ca

Sheesh... so I'm sorry I said Mike already. (:( Fact is, all the episodes I've seen on the SciFi Channel are with Mike, not Joel, so I have nothing to which I can compare. So Mike blows now & then... guess I'll have to go rent a DVD or something. Anyway, I find it hard to believe that anything will beat "Space Mutiny", though...

Mike. Crow. SPACE MUTINY! (Ho, ho, ho.) Hmmm... don't think I've seen all the shorts. The one with that lame animated spring comes to mind, though.

Some odd circumstances, indeed... I don't think I've ever seen the Drengin be good in any of my games... But I, too, have experienced that "We give up" (but what was I doing?) thing... guess to many McDonalds spreading across the galaxy, huh?

Or, if not for today, then for at least an hour... ;) Alright, so you had me at "Just win, baby." I TRIED being a saintly do-gooder, and what did it get me? Planets without good bonuses and a bunch of lazy-a** citizens who then had the gall to complain about *their* low morale. So, I'll reach your standards of evilness shortly and finally join myself to an empire worthy of my membership... {ahem} Oh, and Pontius - hide the sale paper... LOL

Okay, so I've never liked that phrase - "bedfellows" has some... uh... connotations that aren't my speed. Nevertheless, it's an appropriate description of what's been happening in my current game. I've been "good" in the vast majority of my games, but decided that I'd play a little differently in my current Gigantic galaxy, Normal difficulty game. Of course, just as I reached Demonic status {insert evil cackling and wacky music}, I found my first neighbors... the Altarian Republic.<br

Alright, what the HECK am I missing here? I've played this game several times - with several variations - and have never seen anything above the mid-40s (though I admit I haven't paid close attention to all the alien planets). I recently finished a tech victory in a Gigantic galaxy (i.e., I'd terraformed a few planets and built The Terraformer), but the best I had was a 45. I'm no bonehead, so what am I missing out on? Planets in the 80s and 90s? Over 100+?!? A little help, guys... :nots

I had a very similar problem - and, like Popup Target, I had a problem with an invisible ship in the game. (Funny, though - I'd never built an Overlord [did it just 'cause I could], and I thought it's invisibility was a *feature*... doh!) Anyway, Frogboy had me e-mail him my saved game (which also had a few re-loads due to the interruptions of real-life known as sleep and work), so hopefully we'll have an answer soon. BTW, my game was also on a Gigantic galaxy with a Beyond Hu

I just completed a loooong game in a Gigantic galaxy at beginner difficulty level - after completing the game by going Beyond Human (I was fortunate in that I had a corner of the galaxy to myself while the Arceans wiped out nearly everyone else), I submitted my score to the Metaverse only to be given a "0" and my difficulty was classified as "anomalous". Now, I know that I've not modified anything - I haven't downloaded anything from the library (only Stardock), so is there something I'm not aw

Well, I finally finished the Gigantic game that I started with the Universalists (the one that started all this hubbub)... anyway, I tried to submit my score to the Metaverse and got a ZIPPO, Nada, nil... 0. Says my difficulty level was "anomalous", but I *swear* I didn't do anything! It was at Beginner, I think - but still... ah well, guess I have to win it all over again...

Alright, I decided I'd try to see just how "lucky" the Universalists are... and, unless it's just *me* that's lucky, I'd say it's an interesting party to try - here's my anecdotal evidence, take it for what it's worth... I started a new game in a Gigantic galaxy (loose clusters), with Common (default) number of habitable planets. (AI was set to Normal, but that's really not important here.) First thing I notice is that I've got an extra habitable planet around Sol - not rare, but a

{Takes off gloves and wades into the fray, foolishly or otherwise} I cannot believe what I have seen on this thread in the last 24 hours... but I've seen it and can no longer fail to respond. (Like vernmeister, I've failed my saving throw, apparently.) Bear with me - those who agree with my points of view will enjoy the long read... those who don't, well - like I said, bear with me. :) Verenti, if you don't mind, I'm going to take some of your points one at a time:

Well, Vridian - lemme 'splain it real simply. ;) I was thinking that perhaps Stardock might be located in/around Philadelphia. (Or, that one of the developers is from there.) You've heard of the Philadelphia 76ers, right? Pro basketball team? Well, there's a guy named Allen IVERSON (aka AI) who's one of the best players in the game. IVERSON = IVERSONIA. It was just a thought...

Ummm... "Although they already have the alps and Swedish women." Last time I checked, the Alps were mostly in Switzerland, not Sweden. (France, Germany, Italy and Austria too - but they're no closer to being Sweden.) But they do have fjords... (see Hitchiker's Guide, et al.) ;)

Hear, hear! Three cheers for Stardock... all in favor of Frogboy for Emperor, say "aye". Okay, so that's taking it a bit far... ;) Seriously, though - I can't say enough about how impressed I am with post-purchase support and interaction with the gaming community. A model for others to follow...
