To be more precise: 8,9,9,12,12 sectors away. To Za H 25 resources??? Well i played too low number of games for now. ~SDC~
Ellestar
Empire wide bonuses (starting + government + techs + trade goods + wonders + resource mining) Domestic Policy -> Stats ~SDC~
10 sectors away from nearest enemy sectors ;)(so no military at the start), 1 minor civ traded with me for money - so good starting economy, paid for wars between comps (it's game with 1.03.057) I thought that's only way to survive. Maybe i was right, but i'll try closer respawn at this time. Most important thing is to stay far away from most powerful civs... Good strategy gamer must go to fight only then he already won or something like that (San Tzu's Art of War) <BR
I have a good article about game balance (author - Zileas, gosu StarCraft player, designer of StrifeShadow RTS, site - shambler.net). It may help. At least it's best i ever see. It seems that Blizzard used some of that advices. LONG POST Lecture 8: Play Balance Game balance, in the broadest sense, is derived from two major axioms of game design. The first is that players should have options and choices -- a game without choices is usually not really a game... choices a
More important IMHO to think that players will do after one or antoher change than to think that is going on now. Also, i have a good article (author - Zileas, shambler.net) about game balance. It may help. Hm better to post it in suggestions tread. ~SDC~
Ok on that difficulty/map size/winning conditions? It's possible to upload files on our forum. ~SDC~
post ¹4 (better read everything) http://www.galciv.com/browser/msgboard.asp?BoardID=GF&id=53207&cmd=showall#53931 Also try this http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83833&pagenumber=1 http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82594 but i think better to build 1) Soil Enrichment Habitat Improvement Entertainment Network Banking (only on planets with better than average production) 2) Fusion Plan
As Far As I Know At least i saw it many times on many forums - it's don't support TCP/IP or something like that. But i may be wrong - i'm from Russia so i don't have AOL :) 99% that it's not sending scores because of AOL. ~SDC~
Well then i tested this on map was 1 minor civ and 1 major civ. ~SDC~
AOL is incompatible with games AFAIK. ~SDC~
It seems that game lagging severely then it creates new ships. I tested this. Try to build something cheap on all your planets and you'll see. Better to test almost w/o comps. Maybe same issue with up to 15m loading time (gigantic lategame). ~SDC~
Bug with 1st colony ship with 100 population. ~SDC~
This is a bug - i saw it 3 times. I have saves. ~SDC~
It's here ¹35 http://www.galciv.com/browser/msgboard.asp?BoardID=GF&id=52458&cmd=showall It's fun to play 2 times with almost 1 tactics, but on 3rd... I'll try to change it somewhat to get better results... But overall i don't know how i can win if i will be near comps (perhaps i'll win vs 1 comp near me if it will have bad respawn, and others will be far enough). ~SDC~
I also saw this with Ecomony resource. Comp found Military resource 1 sector below and constructor moved to Economy resouce square (i think it waited for another constructors below him, it seems this feature was implemented with 5bc/turn starbase upkeep), and on next turn changed direction and moved to Military resource. Maybe it will be better to change AI scripts so comp grabs resource with at least 1 constructor no matter what. ~SDC~
Well am a Munchkin and so i am a fanatic of the rules, so i become mad then someone playing not under the rules. If you think that it's fair, than perhaps it's fair to me too. But current situation tells me that i never can win in *fair fight* vs Incredible AI. This is mostly a gameplay issue - game doesn't allow to win in a *fair* way. That's why i wanted to see a reply about it. But i don't want to play on Intelligent difficulty - well i feel that i can play better than comp. So, mayb
By the way, your new algorithm (1.03A.057 patch) not working. I got a score of 3734 in 99Jul (not sure about Jul, maybe up to Aug) and it showed a score of 5646 in 202Jul in the same game. ~SDC~
Thankfully i played only Civ I and Civ III PQ39*4=156bc you got 163 this is possible, i got same numbers PQ23*9.78=225bc is impossible (9,78 is impossible) under game rules ~SDC~
I'm respecting Frogboy, but how you don't understand? It's not +40% ot economy or money or etc. It simply means that you need 2,5 more maxed out PLANETS than comp on Incredible to reach same tax level. This is best computer bonus to economy i ever seen in TBS. I don't understand why to give to comp that high bonuses on Incredible - it's just ridiculous. In any other game you can, with proper management, get better enconomy. Here it's just impossible as long as you have
I was really interested how comp gets more taxes from 5 sectors than i from 52 planets. Well, with this level of cheating... Say, in SMAC comp gets like *2 bonuses. Here it gets easily *2,5 more than you ever can get from a planet with ANY bonuses. ~SDC~
This is of couse on Incredible. First, espionage shows that comp has +205% Econ bonus But this is really not important. Then taxes from planet reach 2*PQ of planet, they are start to take penalties. And it's almost impossible to get from a planet more than 4*PQ taxes. There, comp somehow gets 9.78*PQ. This is impossible no matter that bonus he has. So, it's not only gains huge bonuses, GAME RULES DONT AFFECT COMPUTER PLAYERS! ~SDC~
I see in this game comp cheats even more than in both Civ3 and SMAC. ~SDC~
Frogboy tell me please HOW THE HELL PQ23 PLANET CAN GIVE 225bc INCOME??? THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE EVEN WITH 1000% ECONOMY BONUS!!! ~SDC~
6 party palaces + 1 planet of any quality in one sector and 9 enemy sectors are yours Better to have 2-3 Influence Resources also Treshold was like 5000 IMHO, at least if you want to capture FAST. Don't sure about 1.03, it seems more than in 1.02, in 1.02 it was 4 Party Palaces. ~SDC~
Well 3500 on Tough vs my 3700 on Masochistic isn't that fair too IMHO (both with new scoring system) ~SDC~
