OK, I've decided to test the Kingdom of Altar and Lord Relias first! What about you other guys here? 82% downloaded by the way!
I'm going with Procipinee of Pariden. I love strong magic, and the female characters are much nicer to look at (instead of those ugly men of Elemental. Can't we get same handsome males too?). I believe I also started with Pariden in my first game of WoM.

He is one of the most valuable members, it would seem wrong not to let him in. He would certainly give better feedback than I will.
I don't post much on this forum; but I've been around for a long time and I read the forum everyday. I too believe Lord Xia should be bumped up. He has quite a presence on this forum. Time to trade in some of that karma.
I'm due for a new machine in the next year or so. I try to keep them for 5-6 years, which is pretty nice actually, since I've gotten over the urge to always have the newest games anyway. When I do upgrade, I have 3+ years of 'new' games to pick through and see where they stand at that point. Cheaper, and I rarely get something which sucks because the games have had years of review on them
Yeah, I have also been waiting for the price to go down. You can buy it on Amazon (US) a little bit cheaper than from Shrapnel; but with the shipping cost (outside the US) it isn't worth it (and $49.99 is still too expensive anyway). Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/Dominions-3-Pc/dp/B000K0OSFS
I just saw this thread and I just wanted to say thank you for sending me that survey, I like surveys and also I was waiting for exactly this opportunity to buy Elemental. I hadn't expected as much as 20% off though and with the current low value of the dollar I ended up getting the game for almost half of what a new game usually costs. This reminds me, thank you for denominating the prices on Impulse in local currency, it makes everything very easy and familiar. Also, giving o
You are right about the "+50 attack", I just tested it and it doesn't effect damage, only chance to hit and it doesn't apply to missiles at all. I just assumed it did. About the +1 industry, it only took me 3 turns to refit one of the BBs. I don't know if it could be done faster.
Well, of course if you use an über custom race there is no challenge at all; but of course, your goal was to win as quickly as possible so I guess that is the way to do it. I just tried it myself with this configuration: Game Setup: Impossible/Small/2 Players/Advanced Race: Feudal/Industrial Production +1/Ship Offence: +50/Ground Combat: -10/Rich Home World/Uncreative/Telepathic/Trans Dimensional I refitted my ships with the

With the humans you should use thier improved diplomatic abilities to make friends with everyone. Then you need to colonize as many planets as you can to make you at least the second largest empire. With a little luck the other empires will vote you the leader in the Galactic Co
I played MOO2 at a friends house a looong time ago. Is there any way to buy it nowadays?
Of course there is, take a look at Amazon, they even have MoO1.
If you want a quick victory go with Humans in a small galaxy. You should be able to win a diplomatic victory quite fast. If you really want to compare youself against others then you should post a save of the first turn, in the game you are going to play, somewhere. Then others can download it and play it too and post thier score.
According to the Elemental screenshots that have been published so far, one turn will be one day. I was just thinking that this would have some undesired consequences. Age of Wonders had the same system which meant that you could build a Temple in 4 days or maybe a Stone Wall around an entire city in only 2 days. Galciv2 suffers from the same problem where one turn is one week. This basically means you can go from an early spacefaring civilization to the ultimate te
Dom3 allows you to forge items to equip your heroes, where AoW only lets you find them in dungeons. In AoW Shadow Magic you can forge items, just like in MoM.
I'm old school, I come from Star Trek: Birth of the Federation. I'm a god in that game. I'll take on anyone, any race, any starting level, I'll whoop yer a$$, I still play it Ok, I'll be the Federation starting on level 5 and you can be the Romulans starting on level 1. I would like to see you kick my a$$ then. ;) Seriously, GalCiv is a very different game and it will take some time to get used to.
Quote: Also, the last star trek series called Enterprise was a real let down. The only series that didn't make the seven year mark. TOS only lasted 3 seasons... My favourite series is TNG, but I like them all. I'm not sure which episode is my favourite, but two comes to mind when I think about it. 'The Inner Light' from TNG: http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TNG/episode/68556.html 'Whispers' from DS9: http://www.
I think I will just use the autosave... good idea, thanks.
How do you turn off random events? I just got that damn annoying event where all uncolonized planets in a radius of 2 sectors from a certain planet get their quality raised by a certain amount (in this case 11). I was playing on a tiny galaxy with "rare" habitable planets. There were only 8 good planets which were alle colonized and that was exactly the way I wanted it. I don't want a lot of planets to manage when the game can be just as fun with only a few (actually more fun). As y
