Everything looks great so far. Thanks for another great game. As for the future, the fantasy strategy game is what I want far more than anything else anywhere near your plate, at least as far as I've heard. For whatever it's worth in sales, I'll be happy to pre-order it as soon as it's available.

Are the wormholes random on that mission? It seemed rather amazingly coincidental if it was, and I think the end of mission statement even mentioned going through the wormhole. Anyway, I stopped on the left side of the wormhole if that matters. If I were you, I'd try ending tuns at different positions, but even if you have to restart, the whole mission took something like 15 minutes to complete. Good luck.

There was a wormhole to the left of the morale resource. When I ended a turn immediately adjacent to that wormhole, the mission ended. Now if I could work up the energy to get past the next mission. I hate Huge maps (and really, really hate mandatory huge maps). There's no question of winning at this point, but the mop up takes forever. As for meeting with the Korx, there is a planet in the center of the map, basically on a direct line from the starting point to the wormhole

Ok, I admit I don't submit often, as I really haven't had much time to play over the last few months, but when I finished a game a week ago, not only did nothing register in my profile, I think a game that had been recorded (in late December-early January) also disappeared from my record. I tried to resubmit the most recent game using the End Game Save, but no dice. Until this, I had never had a single submission problem, not even the need to resubmit. I have a Drengin subscription, b
I also don't like military stacking as it leads to situations where small ships can anniliate vastly superior ships. A cruiser killing a battleship due to a single starbases bonus ios fine. A cruiser taking out an avatar due to 9 starbases is a bit excessive.
This doesn't bother me at all, since I don't view it as the cruiser which has been enhanced, but rather its cover and support fire, which I think is wholly consistent with the names given to the +attack modules. Welcome to new member Peter Weisberg! It's nice that one of us has time to do some playing these days. I'm hoping to get back into it relatively soon myself. Anyway, it looks like you're having fun, but if there's some way we can help, let us know. Even if we can't play much, some of us are still hanging around. Babcom

Hmmm, messages #28 and 29 are a bit confusing. Talking to yourself. Usually it takes longer before Okuven and I have that effect. ;) Anyway, I'll speak for both of us to a limited extent to say that we'll support whatever efforts you make, but neither of us is likely to have huge amounts of time in the near future. Until we get some more active members, I don't personally see much use for a members only means of communication.
Alternatively, one could trade for Beyond Human or Final Frontier from the AIs by offering up planets and get the tech win easily. The new Alien Tech win option would mitigate this but it's an option which could be switched off.
It's true that this is an easy way to win if the Alien Tech condition is unchecked, but I see no reason why the score shouldn't be penalized if you weren't the first to Final Frontier. Tech wins are simply not significantly easier than military w

Thanks Theoden, even if I can't seem to access the site. As for activity, Okuven and I are sporadically active, generally based on serious time constraints recently. Maybe in December I'll be able to play more regularly. Anyway, I would say Blare is inactive (I don't know him/her personally, so I can't say more). I will let Forester speak for himself as far as activity is concerned.

Thanks for your hard work. At last check, he was still having internet problems. He is also going away for the weekend, so it may be a couple days before anything happens. As for the style of the website, it looks fine to me. I'm not picky, and I would warrant to say that Okuven isn't too picky about such things either.
at that point in the game, there is no way they would have the production capacity to build it by means of turns, even if they set the tax rate at zero. Please.(grin) nice try.
Ok, how about after you checked their finances they extorted a minor for enough cash to go positive, and then bought the Translators?

Another way of looking at the problem is that the tech win is hurt twice. After the .5 multiplier was put in as a response to the "hide in a corner" strategy, they also put in a percentage of the universe factor. Personally, I think that second factor is more than enough to discourage the tactic, perhaps leaving the .5 multiplier for the case that an alien civ beats you to Final Frontier.

Welcome Forester. I'm still around, if rather busy with work these days. I'll give Okuven a call this afternoon. I expect that he'd be happy to let you take on the administrative side of things.

I have to go with Frogboy on several points here. First, and most importantly, the AI should be stupid on beginner level. Saying the AI shouldn't let itself go bankrupt strikes me as silly, since on intelligent and up, it won't (or at least not irrevocably so). I might drive the occasional minor into bankruptcy, but the majors certainly don't want to let me. Second, the .9 to 1.1 range sounds good to me. If you consider a 12K game (as in Cotal's example), this would be a difference between

Yes, I've been able to make alliances while using the Star Wars mod. But as he says, sometimes some races just take forever to convince (before and after installing the mod, so I don't believe it has anything to do with it). Incidentally, I don't get the feeling that gifts ever help bring a relationship above friendly. If you get a tech lead, either sell your techs to your friends, or keep them and get stronger. It seems more likely that they will get close if you are stronger than them or i
The AI does not always ignore PQ13's & 14's. If it will receive a PQ-bonus random event for colonizing that planet, it will land on these as well.Apparently, it figures this into its calculation as to what the final PQ will be as a result of its colonizing, thus knowing these events "in advance".
Do you have any actual evidence of this occurring. I certainly hope the AI doesn't know in advance when it's going to get a +PQ event. Certainly Frogboy didn't include that on

I fall more toward the Staffa - Ralegh plan than toward anyone else's, but I wanted to emphasize that to me, by far the most important score factor should be the difficulty. The greatest challenging win should not touch the worst maso win, however worst and greatest are defined. I personally object to the idea that abundant galaxies should be inherently more score worthy than rare galaxies. They may take longer in real time (not game time), but that doesn't make them harder. It looks to me that the only change in the scoring was the map size - population correction that frogboy mentioned. It doesn't look like scores other than 1.044 scores are affected, nor does it look like tiny game scores were in any way affected. I'm quite confident that the current fastest way to score big is to use a large or bigger / abundent map, probably on a difficulty level of challenging (so you don't get beaten to too much stuff), dominate the galaxy at your normal pace, leaving a pla
People don't choose rare because they're going for the tougher challenge, they're going for rare so they can get the game over with as soon as possible. With rare planets, all you need to do is restart until you nab either a system with multiple planets or more than one yellow star in your starting system and you've won, it's just a matter of playing it out. I did take my medium/common/crippling to its absurd extreme, researching all techs through Beyoyd Human, getting the vast majority of wonders and trade goods, and, oh yeah, wasting 20 years of game time. Result: more than 4 times the score. Blech. For the curious, even though Beyond Human and Final Frontier now take much longer to research, the tech win is still much less valuable (basically, final score * (1/3)). Hopefully, this post will be grossly obsolete by this time tom

Gerakken's advice is probably the best, but I would also like to add that the number of planets you should get is highly dependent on the size of the galaxy as well as how common good planets are. Since you didn't provide that information, Richard Heaton's advice may or may not be right for you. I often play tiny/rare, where I'm doing well if I can get one planet other than earth in the initial stages. 4 planets is about right for small/common (another favorite of mine). Adjust according to
