You have a point but based on the total votes you can make an educated guess on the votes. It get more difficult when there are more choices and very few votes for some options. The detail provided is probably about as good as the validity of an unscientific poll in the first place. If I were guessing at the meaning of the poll on ship jewelry I would predict that maybe 20% of the people that voted yes would eventually buy the $8.95 package and that would be little more than a WAG.

you can boost earth to pq13 with all terraforming improvements. A few of the AI just have better home planets to start with.
Remember that flipping planets and winning a cultural victory are two different sides of the coin Yes and no. I have won many cultural victories without flipping a single planet but on a huge or gigantic map it is impossible to extend your influence enough to take over the galaxy with influence mining, influence buildings and influe
I don't like the idea of nerfing things I'm with you Big Jim. IMO too many things have been nerfed already. (okay, the game is still great but...) Originally the rail gun had an early advantage of 2 firepower that was nerfed. I would have rather seen the rail guns penalized at the end of the tech to pay for that early bonus rather th
I think the majority of players don't care for influence victories so the trend has been to make it harder and harder to get the cultural victory. This would make sense if the difficulty was added to the high difficulty levels but I think it extends all the way down to cakewalk. I might be wrong about this since I am playing only on the tough level now but I believe the coding for planets flipping is the same for all levels. Maybe I should try an easier level and see.<img src="http://
My first military ships are orbital spheres with no engines 2/0 laser attack. This, as the name implies, is a (neat looking to me anyway) spherical ship I designed with 2 laser cannons at max size. It looks totally like a space station and nothing at all like a ship. Too bad the AI has no emotions, I am sure they would be terrified of those big metal balls with the gigantic cannons mounted on the hull. I have some saved orbital sphere designs with more fire power and defense but I usually never
yes, overall neutral is #1 and evil #2. Good is I suppose it's own reward and a dandy way, for those that say the game is too easy, to make it harder on themselves.
The trade route provides the same income regardless of where it travels but I guess you mean that the freighter will be picked off by the enemy as it travels through its territory. It might be attacked anyway but I will admit that skirting their territory would give them a better chance. The only way to stop that is build Galactic Privateer or try to escort them. They might ignore them for awhile but if the war goes on long they will get around to them and it is hard to save them.<br/
I will add my please for some starbase management tools. Building constructor after constructor does become a drag on the game and keeping track of what upgrades are available and needed is also a pain. I would use starbases more if it was a little easier to manage them. I find myself wondering, do I really want to build this base and have to build 30+ constructers to get it up to speed? Okay, it's not that hard but it is monotonous.
yeah, trade is squirrelled. I use it for diplomacy but since I play on smaller maps the income is not important. the per turn income is erratic. I can sometimes get as much income trading with a minor in my own sector as I get by traversing the galaxy.
Turn off influence victory
If the 10 seconds are a problem do you care to see the combat at all? You can skip you know and you could even turn it off for awhile and maybe turn it back on when you build new ships to see their performance a couple of times. I press done a lot when I am sure what the outcome will be.
Brian Reynolds was supposed to be the driving force and primary creator of Alpha Centauri and AC Alien Crossfire. After playing Rise of Nations that is hard to beiieve. I haven't tried ROL. Alpha Centauri was imo the greatest 4X game ever made at its time and RON was just ordinary.
A better question: Why in hell would we give it to them to begin with. The back story on that would have to involve some misguided traitor. (a radical liberal no doubt) Anyway they don't act like they have never heard of us. They are just a bit surprised to see us in their neck of the woods.
Oh, on the second question they reviewed the games and reduced the scores substantially for anyone not using rally points.
Left click on the rally point button on the lower left of the main screen, then left click the spot on the map where you want the rally point to be. You will get a dialog box to name the rally point (if you want to change it) and choose the type of rally point (fleet, etc.) There are various ways to send ships to rally points. If you can't figure that out maybe someone will help you.
It's a matter of luck, sometimes they end up screwed by a poor starting position. They did have a bad starting position but still........ I was playing at the tough level and they were set for "intelligent". It is my understanding that the AI has all the protocols at that level with higher levels providing only financial bonus.
The diplomatic benefits of alignments are huge depending on your situation and the way you play. If you are a diplomatic player you can choose the alignment that will make the AI eat out of your hand. If you are neutral the Arceans will die for you. They literally love neutrality. If you are good, you can bribe the Altarians to cuss their mama and if you are evil the drengi will prop up their feet and let you have the galaxy. maybe I'm exagerating a bit but that's it in a nutshell.<br
Unlikely but never say never I guess. There have been numerous long threads on this subject and it is pretty much DOA. The most that you might hope for in the future are some simple tactical attack options similar to what you get on the invasion screen.
I think the devs have decided to hate culture flipping.
You can install GC2 on as many machines as you like. I have it on 2 and I have never had a problem. For those that don't use SDC, I have no clue.
The relations screen military indicator is broken. I have noticed that it will show a faction as the strongest while the civ management stats are different. I have found that the timeline graphs are the most accurate way to keep track. If the graphs shows you behind you are no doubt behind. The computer calculations are always correct only as long as they give the same answer no matter where the question is asked. The relations screen is not always correct.
In a game last night I notoced that the Drengi never got going while the Altarians were tearing up the galaxy. The drengi seemed disinterested in colonizing and never got their military in gear, while the Altarians played as well as most humans from the standpoint of developing their planets, research, military and economy. I think there is something to the idea that sometimes a particular AI doesn't initiate properly.
You should try setting your game resolution to 1280 X 1024 to match your computer. I had a couple of crashes long time ago and that fixed it for me. I have also read that some have better luck playing in window mode but full screen gives me the best performance.
1280x1024 for me
