Hmm... maybe whoever put this online could make a simple web form for people to submit their own games. It would just be on the honor system, but since all the information would be checkable on the Metaverse anyone who cheated too blatantly would be caught by other interested users. Then the whole thing would run fully automatically except for occasional deletion of the accounts of abusers.
That's a really intesting idea, vincible. And, actually, the whole thing could be

Vincible: Tech and Culture victories have been turned off. It is impossible to win either of those ways. Gengsta: Sure, starbases are fair game to give away. I just wanted to avoid the cheese of gifting planets in faraway sectors to keep races alive that shouldn't be. Gibbie: Your strategy sounds reasonable, but do remember that speed is one-third of your score. I imagine--though I don't know, I'm not nearly as good a player as many of the people here--that it's only re

Hey all. Thought I'd stop in and say hello. That Ray, he's a committed recruiter. :D I can't say I've been submitting much to the Metaverse lately, but the FotR is welcome to my crummy 20000 points. Now maybe I should read those Tolkien books at some point... ;)

Sorry it didn't work out too well for you, Gengsta. I'm surprised luck would factor into it more than skill... but once I'm done with the game I'll take a look at your AAR and see what you mean. I'm almost positive the saved game file is in good shape--do you think it was a problem with that or GalCiv itself?
What are the chances a Minor could make the Top 10?
Not too bad, actually... the Space Arachnids are vulnerable. You just need to get together about eight more people with scores higher than 10,000, or four 20,000 level players or whatever. There still are a lot of top players out there who remain unaligned, but I don't think they check this board too often.

Ray: Thanks for the invite. I've considered joining up in the past; I really liked the idea of an empire dedicated to building up the GalCiv community, and I think you guys have done well with the Strategy Guide document. But... I like to root for the underdog. If I join any empire, it will probably be one that's down in the rankings and on the move. You guys are too close to the top for my taste. :) YellowSign: I was wondering what happened, since you seemed to enjoy

Preach on, brother ImperialGuard! I'd love to see ten or more people do this one, especially since ANYONE has a chance here. (Training yourself for high metaverse scores won't really help with this victory condition.) And, despite being #5 on the empire list, the Fellowship blows away the competition in Games of the Month. In the last one, Fellowship players took the top two spots. I'm surprised at the other top empires... are they afraid to enter competition on an e

The Late July Game of the Month is now online. You may find it at this site: http://home.ptd.net/~mpcasey/ The current game should make you think a bit harder about your strategy, since the goal of the game does not reward what the Metaverse does. Pay close attention to the rules and scoring procedure. If you wish to discuss the game or post AARs without screenshots, please use this thread: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=79280 Let's try to keep spoilers

This is a discussion area for the Late July Game of the Month. If you intend on playing, and haven't already, please DO NOT look in this thread because there will likely be spoilers. Anyone else can just scroll down. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

One last bump. If anyone else would like to play, please remember that you now only have two days in which to finish and send me your game. Galaxor: I like your idea, but the next two games are pretty much set up now. I hope to do something like that at some point.

...because this is one of the nicest computer game forums I've ever seen, whether because of moderation (which has remained unobtrusive and unnoticed) or just because of the maturity and age level of GalCiv players. I mean, I haven't even seen ONE post of the "hAHA our empire ROXORS u SUCK u FAGGORT" variety, and it's very refreshing. (Go play Counterstrike or Diablo II on battle.net to see what I'm talking about.) So let's everyone have a big group hug, spread the smilies a

Well, I'm not sure I agree with you, Gengsta. (Or maybe I misunderstand what you're saying.) Seems to me that, while it may be better to rush a bit more slowly than you did, it's still quicker to a tech victory by: 1. Establish hegemony over the galaxy as quickly as possible. 2. Then put all funds into infrastructure and research. I may be wrong on this, though. I haven't played to a tech victory nearly enough.
