2187? Wow, you White Council guys don't waste any time... :D Well done.
In fact, it looks like all of the possible victory conditions can be accelerated by doing a military rush
It's a shame, yeah. And I really can't think of a way out of it, either. As far as the next one goes... I'm going to remain tight-lipped until the 15th! ;)
PBB: Oh, why did you have to bring up Star Control 3? After the brilliance that was SC2, I took SC3 off my hard drive two hours after I started playing it. I guess that's what happens when you sack Reiche and Ford. It's a real shame the forces behind SC2 couldn't even work on the SC3 project.
Speaking of practice, Michael, any hints on the settings for the Late July Game of the Month??
Well, I'll say this: better brush up on your diplomatic skills. The next one will have you doing things you generally don't even think about in GalCiv. August... well, something like your idea will probably be the August game. The problem I see with only a tech victory is that the quickest way (and someone correct me if I'm wrong on this) to get one is to conq
Ray: Great! It'd be wonderful if this becomes semi-popular on the forum here, and it's likely good for the community as a whole. AIL: Sure. I'll post it the next time I update the site, when the Late July game is coming out. And Ray: I wonder what Staffa could do with this map?
Very fast! 2189 will be the time to beat, no doubt about it...
Good summary Bhazel. Very interesting. I wonder if I might've been able to finish a lot earlier if I'd stuck with Battleships? When I saw that the Altarians and Arceans got Dreadnoughts I quickly retooled and researched it myself. In retrospect, maybe I didn't need to and should've just tried to capture the technology.
I uploaded my game to Apolyton, but forget how to attach the file to my reply
Okay. Go to "Upload" on apolyton, then "View Files." If your GOTM saved game is there, there will be a link to it. Next, right-click on the link, and go to "Copy Shortcut" in IE or "Copy link location" in Mozilla. Next just go to the upload thread and hit Control-V to paste the link into your message. Alternatively, now that I think of it, you could just email it to me, alth
GROSS has friends? ;)
Lately my playlist has been the new Radiohead album, a bunch of Flaming Lips stuff, and old Jamiroquai. For a while my playlist was a lot of Leroy Anderson's work at the Boston Pops. Something about a space-game just goes well with a symphony. (Maybe Star Trek and 2001 are responsible for that.)
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it. If you'd like to just discuss the game here on the forum, I've set up a thread where you may do so: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=77211 If you have a more in-depth text-only After Action Report, I can host it on the GotM Site if you wish. Sadly I can't host pictures as my ISP is somewhat stingy with storage space. If you have one with screenshots in HTML, like this one here: http://geocities.com/russellmz/AAR-GOTM-May
I had a somewhat difficult time with this one, but I still won and never really felt too much in danger. I took out the Drengin during the frigate era. Next came the Torians and Yor with Battleships, and much, much later the Arceans and Altarians. I was aided immensely by the military resources out there. By game's end, my obsolescent Dreadnoughts were taking out Avatars, and my Overloads were practically invincible. That said, conquest of the Altarians and Arceans w
This is a discussion area for the Early July Game of the Month. If you intend on playing, and haven't already, please DO NOT look in this thread because there will likely be spoilers. Anyone else can just scroll down. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Wow... tough looking map AIL.ST. Let me know if you plan on writing an After Action Report. I'm curious to hear what went wrong.
The Whiskey Rebellion is a top 25 empire devoted to alcohol and its adherents. Yeah, right now it's just me and my brother. But I guess there aren't too many drunks on this board, which is for the best.
Never got into WC3--or any RTS games for that matter--but once the Diablo II patch comes out my GalCiv time will likely decrease as well. How is that beta patch? I'm also on the fence about picking up Star Wars Galaxies. I've never played in an MMORPG before, but two of my friends are crazy about it, and I never see them anymore.
Interesting ideas, RayChua. I think the first one, in particular, could quite easily become a GOTM. Maybe August...
Well, without giving anything away, I finally won in November 2221. I don't think I'm going to end up with the trophy for this one!
Imperial: that link should be good for a long time now. Thanks for the compliment!
You may now download the Early July Game of the Month (if there's enough interest, I'll run two every month) from the following site: http://home.ptd.net/~mpcasey/ This one should pose more of a challenge than previous months. All aliens are set to "Intelligent" and their alignments are randomized. Your objective: conquer the galaxy as quickly as possible. I've also updated the site so that it no longer looks like it's from 1995. Take a look. It's from at
The committee members barely escape with their lives and their merchandise and decide to try a star system which is not inhabited by someone who doesn't like the taste of alcohol.
WAR! WAR! WAR! Dispatch the frigates! Let no teetotaler live! ...this is rapidly turning into an intergalactic conflict, with even the minor races thirsty for blood.
As leader of the Whiskey Rebellion, I hereby state our neutrality towards all sides in this conflict. We hope only to supply you all with hard liquor or fizzy girly drinks depending of course on your preference. Our freighters should be arriving shortly...

Glad to be of help. :HOT:
Huh? thats odd the serial number I was going to give him was: Ctrl + Alt + Delete + the right arrow + Enter Gosh they make they so easy to guess these days!
I don't know what you're smoking. I don't think that's a valid serial number. Everytime GalCiv asks ME for a serial, I just pull out that black cord thingy that goes into the wall. Maybe trviper should try that.
