thanks. i've been having trouble with my galciv, other than a few small map games i can't get a game to finish without a ctd.
That's a shame. I had that problem before 1.3 came out, but it's been good for me ever since. Actually at the moment GalCiv is the most stable game on my crummy computer.

Thanks Binsbergen! :D
Okay, by popular demand we'll reduce the number of victory conditions. I know June was a pretty plain-vanilla game, but it was just because it's the first time I was running it and I didn't want things to be too complex. I can see why Stardock has so much trouble scoring for the metaverse. It's hard to balance scoring for speed versus development; for instance--no offense LDiCesare--I think Ray should've won by a much larger margin than he did, but his mil/tech/soc/econ scores lagged
I just finished scoring the June games. http://home.ptd.net/~mpcasey/scores.html Please note that the site is now hosted at http://home.ptd.net/~mpcasey/ since I've changed internet providers. Ellestar, if you're out there, please send me the galciv.reallyrules.com login! :p I should have a new game up for you in a few days, and the site will soon link to June AARs. Feel free to discuss whatever you'd like in this thread now that the competition is over.
Nice to see you russell, didn't know you were still playing.
How do those access levels work, anyway?
Just a quick reminder that if you want to participate in the June Game of the Month, you still have the weekend to submit a game. http://home.epix.net/~mcasey/ I'll try to have the scores up as soon as possible after the 30th. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for the July GOTM? Preferably along the difficulty level of Challenging or Tough. RayChua proposed a game where one of the AIs was set to incredible and the others to lesser intelligence levels. Any othe
Gives you a new map with the same settings you picked.
Aldar: this has happened to me before also. But when I sent a different freighter to the same sector, everything worked fine. I guess that particular freighter was just broken. EBZero: I'm pretty sure it's always been ten, but I'm not positive.
It is a good suggestion for a GOTM though. Michael Casey, how about it?
Well, it's the only suggestion I've yet heard, and it sounds good to me. Only thing is, how hard do you think it would be, compared to say a game where ALL AIs were on bright or intelligent or something? I have a hard time getting players as it is, and I'd hate to lock some out by setting up a game too hard for lesser players, such as myself. ;)
And a thing about the Altarians... Netro Mancer? Net Romancer? This must be some reference I just don't get. Or maybe that guy just sits around a computer all day searching through match.com.
You're only losing the ones you don't need anyway. I hope...
Ray: Don't forget to post on link to the saved game here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89126 Otherwise I won't know where to find it. :)
I really enjoy a Jim Beam Rye and coke.
Odd how they go from brutal slave-driving conquerers when they hate you to utter cream puffs (chocolate, hugs) when they like you.
thanks truze... I can see why they go over so well!
Psst... Ray... I don't see your game in the upload thread there either. ;p But now that I think of it, mine isn't there either.
Well, Elf, I could've used that reminder when I got home to write that first post up there. :( But I heartily second the margaritas and Long Island Ice Tea comments. What's in a LIIT, anyway?
One more bump before this thread rides off into the sunset. Just a reminder that folks have one week left to submit your games. So far, we've only had four players. Surely there are a few more people out there who might want to give this competition a try?
Michelob on the rocks? That's a new one for me. Now I'll HAVE to try it. In any case, it's gotta be better than that swill I was drinking last night. :D
BUMP to put this back on the first page
Oh man, let's start the party early. I had a good dozen or so Pabst Blue Ribbons, and they tasted much better than I thought. Hey, you should join the empire I'm in charge of, "The Whiskey Rebellion." Or not, it's okay. Heck, we're just here to have jun, right? Cheers! :HOT:
The Soft Bulletin is a fantastic album, good god. If I had to be stuck on an island somewhere with only one album, this would be a serious contender. I should pick up some of their earlier stuff.
Definitely, Ray. Early July will, at the very least, have an alignment restriction. Any suggestions here are welcome.
Glad to see we have a few more players. I was getting worried for a while! There doesn't seem to be anyone playing who sticks to the "normal" or so level on this board anymore, so the next one will be, at the very least, set to "Intelligent" difficulty. If I can swing it timewise, I'll try to set up two per month starting in July for as long as we have interested players. You around, Ellestar? I could use those galciv.reallyrules.com ftp passwords, because I'll be
