BUMP for hopefully more than three players. :(

Apart from your last suggestion, I agree fully. Probably past the point of diminishing returns for Stardock to worry about it too much, though.
I have the same problem, Hurley.
LDiCesare: I figure since the really good players have the Masochist Challenge (which might be over, I'm not sure) and the Metaverse rankings to compete over, the Game of the Month can be for us unwashed, unloved "Normal" difficulty players to compete at something. Next month's difficulty will be Challenging, which is probably still not high enough difficulty for a lot of people here. On the other hand, for a lot of other people it is.
Galaxor: Honor system. Binsbergen: Please just use the link listed above. I'm not sure who's in charge of galciv.reallyrules.com at this point; dikdirk started it, but he left town. If whoever has it sends me the ftp password, I'll update the site from there. cheers
Whoops. I keep logging in through my brother's account. Anyway, I just barely scraped by. Probably one of the most interesting games I've played yet, though.
If they're just events, they're probably okay. Ships or techs wouldn't be, though.
Christopher: I much prefer the term "Multi-Level Marketing" PBP: We're out to take YOUR booze, bub! Plundering the plunderers, that's our goal. hiccup
http://home.epix.net/~mcasey While the AIs are all set to Normal, I think this one should be a bit harder than last month. The map will likely put you in an underdog position in the beginning of the game. Please let me know if you have any comments, suggestions, etc. about the game or website. But be gentle on the website, it's the first one I've ever made. :) Good luck everyone, and please try NOT to give anything away in this thread before July 1st!
I'm also wondering about that blank button on the main title screen. It's been there since the beginning, true, but I imagine SOMEthing went there at one point.
Oh, I see what the problem was. You can't X out the "DN" or "GC1" parts of the serial. The rest of it you can X out without the game crashing. Now as soon as I get this web stuff up and running... Ellestar if you could send me the FTP info to galciv.reallyrules.com I'd appreciate it. mailto:
All this talk of "Empire" should make all free-thinking citizens of the world shudder in horror. Whatever happened to liberty, happiness, and delicious drinks? For THOSE are what makes a prosperous civilization. We of the Whiskey Rebellion don't discriminate about national origin. Australians, Americans, Russians, Chinese, whatever: all are welcome. We don't care about scores. High, low, who cares? You could lose a hundred games and you'd still be welcome here. Can ma
Okay, thanks, I'll try that.
What? You can't submit a saved game to the metaverse without the serial number, which is just fine. No one's going to submit a GOTM anyway. I just want to take it out of ONE saved game so that once it's posted over on apolyton my own serial isn't all over the universe. I know it's possible; dikdirk did it last month.
Actually, I have two questions: How do I take my serial out of game.galaxy? I tried finding it in notepad and replacing with X's, but when I did that the game would no longer load. It'd just hang at 100%. Also, can 1.05 read 1.04 save games without problem? I ask because I'm pretty much ready with the June Game of the Month (apart from the website which shouldn't take too long), but I'd rather not be broadcasting my serial number out there. And it'd be bad to have
In 6 months all this stuff will be meaningless anyway.
Do you mean: surely it will all be worked out in six months; or, no one will be here playing the game in six months; or, the metaverse will be down in six months?
Heh, well it sounds like you're having a good time at least. One game I played early on got ridiculous quick; the Fundamentalists ate up all the Yor worlds and became by far the strongest civilization out there, with its homeworlds defended by dozens of dreadnaughts... (PS: I call them "awesome balls" though, 'cause the economy resource is really good.)
I'm busier than I expected... hopefully will have something up by the end of the week. If anyone has any ideas for scoring methods, let's hear 'em. The way May was scored worked out okay, but I'm pretty sure if we put our heads together we can figure out something better. I'm thinking "Challenging" difficulty, probably nothing too exotic, maybe just some unusual social picks at the beginning. Suggestions are most welcome.
Mozilla Firebird!
And to top it all off, one of their devs got a job as an instructory at a university on how to design and market video games.
I don't know if this is a valid criticism. (I assume you're talking about Alan Emerich.) I mean, the guy didn't get a chance to even finish the project; who's to know what it might've been had he? Regardless, he's probably qualified to teach computer game design. Guy used to write for CGW back when it was the pinnacle of game review
I'd like to help, but I'm a dunce when it comes to HTML and not much better when it comes to playing the game. Still, if there's anything in particular I can do let me know.
If they're in orbit, all ships get a bonus (though I'm not sure what percentage) to their ATT and DEF. Besides that, the minor civ may have taken War Party for additional hit points.
I just didn't want to be a jerk. I'll probably set one up during the next two days, then.
Mind if I set up a June GOTM? I know you have the masochist challenge going, but the rest of us peons can't complete at that level. :)
