I am not complaining about an incompetent AI here, no, the AI is fine. The thing is, that to win this game there is no need to have an edge over the AI at all. The only thing you have to do is making friends with the strongest AIs. Trade with them, make deals with them, adopt their alignment while researching +Diplomacy-Techs and you'll be fine. When you have made an Alliance with the strongest AI of the predominant Alignment, you have practically won. Now you can either go

Trade embargo doesn't work... I can click the checkbox but it won't check... guess it's because we're allied. Well, the game is over already. And that without the minor race beeing conquered. The new gang up against the biggie-feature of the latest patch led to everyone against the Yor. I then just had to ally with the others and so had won.
I think that tech trading in this game is a little too easy. When I compare the researching of me and the alien races, I almost always seem to be lacking. On the other side, I still have most of the stuff, the others researched due to trading. I'm not doing anything but from time to time checking what they have and what I have. I put all their non-military techs in the list and all my non-diplomacy techs. I balance it out with money until it
It's pretty much the same issue, like that, that you cannot break an alliance with them, once you made one: A flaw in the UI. I'll turn minors off for the future until this will be fixed.
Well, I think i'm just gonna deactivate minors for my next game then.
I have observed, that this feature also can make the game easier in som circumstances. 4 Civs left, me, my ally the Korx, the Drath and the rampaging Yor. The Yor declare war on the Korx, who instantly ask for help. I tried to get the Drath involved, but they would not declare war for anything I could afford. After the Yor took 2 Korx planetes, they obviously got flagged as "on a conquest strategy" and the Drath threw t
As far as I know the traderoute starts from the planet the frighter left the orbit. So when you build the frigter on Earth and send it to Mars, the traderoute would start from Mars. I have come to different observations with that, as I tried to do exactly this. The trade route at the end still was establish
Yes, depending on the size of the map and the number of planets, buying your first few colony-ships is the way to go. What else you should spend it for? Constructors to be able to rush to the space-resources as those are extremely valuable later on. If there ain't much to colonize or there's no resources to send your constructors to, you can also rushbuild some basic buildings like a factory that will give a significant increase in buil
According to this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=346&AID=114177 nobody has a clou of how to break an alliance with a minor race. The way it supposedely should work doesn't, as the "Trade Embargo"-Button will not turn into a break alliance button, like it works for the majors.
For the money it costs, you could buy a whole new ship from scratch. After what I've seen, upgrading is by far cheaper than buying a new ship.
So it is an actual bug and I can't do it at all?
I just noticed that Tri-Strontium-Armor and Tri-Strontium-Armor II have exactly the same stats that is: Size 6 Cost 70 Defense 3 Shouldn't there be a difference to reflect the advance in technology?
What happens if you go to them every 2-3 turns demanding tribute? They consider it as asking for help and not actually tribute. They won't break the alliance for that. I'm
Isn't that an effect you have to keep spending money for espionage?
so you have tried sending a fleet to attack them? Yes, that's where I got the message to first break my Alliance. Bribing the Yor could but probably won't help. When the Dark Yor were at war with the Iconians and I signed peace with the Iconians, they did not bother to ask me to reenter that war.
The Korx won't attack the Dark Yor. I tried to offer them a lot of stuff and they still asked, if I was kidding them. But I shouldn't have to do it that way, it must be possible somehow, otherwise this is really flawed and should be fixed. @ 3xman: I don't know if there's another way too but you can end the alliance on the Relations-Screen, by checking the "Break Alliance" checkbox just below their portrait and the espionage-slide
Nobody able to tell me? I really need to know that, befor I can continue playing.
I have allied with the "Dark Yor". But I now fear, that someone conquers them. I also need more planets to be able to impress the real Yor, who are getting stronger and stronger thanks to my stupid Ally, the Korx, who simply did not invade that Iconian planet until the Yor declared war and took it. Before I had to pay the Iconians to stop fighting the Dark Yor. Since I think the Iconians will be conquered by the Yor, while hoping the Korx ge
Just beeing curious about how to upgrade ships that are currently orbiting a planet. Currently I have them to leave the orbit, upgrade them and then send em back, when the job is done. Is there another way, that pobably saves me some clicks?
I heared that besides embassies and starbases the population is a rather important factor for influence. A mining starbase on an influence resource also is extremely helpful for that. Other than these two things i dont really have an idea, what they could have in their favour.
How about "They belive that good and evil will destroy all that exists" without disbelieve in the balance? The neutrals are aligned mostly neutral to good and to the evil, while those could hate good and evil while only liking the neutrals.
races surrendering without a shot fired is kinda lame to me, id believe that you could quicker just BUY a planet out from under them before id expect a whole race would simply surrender to something as lame as 'culture'. hell humans ourselves cant seem to agree on what a good culture is As someo
Be warned, the AI will spot you doing this and may or may not take action against you. You know, my daughter came home from a party last night. When I asked her, where the party was, she told me it was on Starbase 301. I didn't even know that we had this starbase. When I checked, I found out it was indeed a toria
Simple question: Does disabling the alliance victory path also disable the possibility to form alliances at all?
