well, I like to have specialized starbases rather than mixed ones. Research and Build in crowded systems, trade and cultural along the trade routes, in foreign quadrants, and in the homeworld sistem, a big slab'o steel with lotsa guns...the research and trade stations are satisfactory but the war station is a total deception. Like, TOTAL ! I was expecting a lot more...

oh, I just hate it when you people smack me with facts...like that comp\laptop thing...I tell ya...it just doesn't pay to be ME anymore...can anyone tell me where I can buy me a new personality ? (or what prerequisite do I need to research it ? is that a military or a social project ?)
Like, really, constructors take for ever to build, they're slow like snails....And after pumping lotsa them into a starbase, and focusing on the military upgrades in offense and defense only, (and after researching and installing planetary defense) and after having swarms'o ships in lower orbit I found my homeworld rather...vulnerable...it's not worth it... One would think that after working for years and spending a fortune on one spacestation, well, one would think that the so-called space
oh, puhleeze...the dread is like, 3 times the size of the battleship, HOW can you make that cheaper ?...tho I must admit that having a dread cost a lot AND having it build in so many months would be...plain silly and unbalancing...
Boo ya !...oh, whatever...why did I EVER believed that someone will ACTUALLY HELP ?
awww....it's a damn shame...it should be possible...I even moved the tax slider to zero for a few years and lived off trading techs...it was a nice experiment tho...research/social 50/50 and military zero, and i just kept selling research projects to my allies for cool cash, and everyone was so happy, until everyone realized they don't need me anymore and started beating me into non-existence...really sad...
I REALLY have to bump this again....like, REALLY !....and I'll keep bumpin'it till someone says it's impossible, or that it is possible and they'll do it...or something...but just tell us something !
mabe the dread is made from recycled materials while the battleship is not... :D
well, you could name the bad red guys "the taiidani empire", the metallic ass yor collective "the bentusi" , the green big headed freaks "the guardians of khadesh", the pipe-nosed furry ones "the new taiidani republic", and the blue-tatooed-backstabbing a**holes "the turanic raiders". Name your home planet Khadesh and the uss hero to Khar-Selim and the first colony ship Khar-Toba. Then keep naming your connquered planets as follows : Soomtaw Glory, S'jet Cluster, Kaleel Path, Nebaan Pride, Hiiga
Call me a freak but I would like to see my guys above 75 happyness all the time ...and I try, oh how I try !....I build virtually every thing that will boost that and keep the taxes at 20-25% and do virtually every hing I can...the problem is that I like to play verrrrry long games, and to delay the final strike on the enemy...so I end up with class 15 planets having a few zillion people sitting one on top of eachother...wich I guess can be a bit uncomfortable....so...I ask, besides lowering tax
humm...I could use a class 575 planet.... LOL
So I play as a goodie goodie guy, allways making the "a" choice, so the arcean-ear-ringed-tatooed-blue race allies with me...and we have a blast...lots fun trading techs and "those holo movies I like so much"...and we kick the nits and bolts off the yor collective. So far so good. Here comes trouble : We are both attacking a huge lvl32 planet with about 20 defenders in orbit. So we take turns at losing ships. But at some time I get to destroy the last defender and invade and conquer. Now
nonono...enter won't work either...is a souncard based problem i think...just tap ESC an click on the music ON/OFF/ON/OFF button a couple of times and it will unstuck...but a few turns later gets jammed again...
ahem...same problem here... latest nvidia drivers, latest sound drivers, directX9,HDD not fragmented, no programs running in background, huge swap file(1 gig), 256 RAM, 1gig duron, nvidia256 @32DDR ....so where's the problem ? galaxy size, large, 3 AIs......
Ugh...thank you verry much, Dearmad, for killing our enthusiasm LOL ....anyway I really can't stand using ships as kamikaze...I always think about the pilots...kamikaze is inhumane... (for goodness sake ! I even preserved those two headed squirells !) now, fighter formations would put an end to insane kamikzing...
Yup, it's a damn shame to spend hours building the perfect empire only to toss it away after winning... I would REALLY enjoy fighting small and random appearing races,( protecting the ones I like and wasting the others), or fighting a really really hard battle... agains planet overcrowding...I can already see myself desperately colonizing class 1 planets while waiting for a random race to pop up with a nice planet.... :) LOL
Yup, that's exactly what I wanted to say...After all I felt pretty invincible with a few thousand tones'o steel around me...should be different...a swarm of fighters should be able to rip you to shreads...and this way, small ships never get old and useless...
I guess that depends on the game difficulty...Just finished my first game on "easy" setting...2 AI's on beginner and one on sub-intelligent. The inhabitable planet availability was set lower than normal and map size medium. And I got 4 planets really fast and then up to seven a bit later...so I had more planets than I really needed.
hey...I just noticed...Eddie Murphy was born in the same day as me...gee...and I'm already looking a bit like the nutty professor...
23 yrs, on 3rd of april...but my mind got stucked around the age of 14... LOL
I dunno what to say...The fact is that a swift group of fighters SHOULD be able to take down a huge chunky and slow moving ship...So then we have the reason to escort the large ship with some fighters...so this way it's balanced...I really liked the formation\guard\escort strategies in HW and CAT...but that's a different game type alltogether...But I agree that formations should provide bonuses. After all, escorting a big ship with some fighters, slows the fighters down...so the fighter escort
So I got this great game tyesterday evening and I started right away. So here's what I've done : The furry all evil race set to sub-intelligent The all-goodie humanoids and the green orc-looking neutral guys set to beginner. (really easy game, I know.) So...at first I was SO CONFUSED ! The game has TONS of features and things to build and research... Since I had no ideea what I have to resarch to achieve a particualr goal, I was just messing around... After a few hou
ugh...thanx...these damned mathmatics are killing me...haven't realised that...gee...how stupid can I get ? :D Hehe...really nice game...worth every penny.
First day playing the game...and already frustrated... So I build 2 constructors an send'em out there...and slap in a Starbase with an Interstellar distribuitor upgrade...wich should give me +5% military and social production...however, it has no effect...what's wrong ? I must say that the starbase is near the planet i'm monitoring...and none of the upgrades I try don't seem to affect it... :sniff!:
Well...first of all a lil' indicator telling me how many users are logged in...this way if I post a question i'll now if I stick around & wait an answer to pop up or I'm the only one in here..... second...forums topics should be grouped in something like "spoilers", " GalCiv general discussion", "MOD developement" ...etc... maybe a PM (private messaging) option ?
