I posted mine too on apolyton. Very interesting Vorlin, to see someone else's game. Yours is a lot more lively then mine. The Arceans are all over the place except at their homeground :). And TEN traderoutes to Hatch :sniff!: . I won't say too much to not spoil things for others. What is the MScore?

"The only resouce I don't particularly care for 1 way or another is the Influence resource." Hmpf, i love influence resources :d . Their positions are allways in the back of my mind. "its primary benefit is assisting with a culture win...which is pretty easy to get anyway" Umm, which hard to get wins do you favour? :)

Sorry to hear you lost dikdirk :( I played the game and uploaded the save. Screwed up a bit though. When the cultural win was complete in 0 mts i saved. Not over yet. Saved again. Several turns on. I made peace with the Torians and oops, just didn't save that turn. I finally realize why all my cultural wins seem to take much longer than 12 mts: you can't be in a war. So i loaded the previous 1turntogo-save to only be at 58% cultural. Saved the next turn and that is the submitted s

"Every month we start a new game, save it in the very first turn and place it on this site. Then everyone can download this saved game and play it. Since everyone plays the same game in the GOTM, it allows for a much more meaningful comparison of skills than the High Score Hall of Fame or the Civ3 Tournament." Problem is: Galciv is much more luckdependant. I'd love to see saving/loading prohibited but it would require a great deal of trust. I would surely play a tournament game if s

How about some seperate tournament rankings for the competitors/achievers. Each with strict rules about map size, scatteredness and planet abundancy. And with a known scoring formula (winning fast should be very important). Hmm, it will probably be a CTRL-N fest.

I like the metaverse as it is. Just click on someone to get an idea what kind of player he (women don't play galciv i suppose) is. Don't take it too seriously. I really think the scoringsystem for individual scores could be a lot fairer. Beyond Human: Way too many points in comparison to cultural and military wins. It's absolutely the easiest and quickest (no micromanaging constructors and combat transports) way to win a game. Especially with the AI unable to win this way and the AI

Probably known: Altarians offer peacetreaty, i accept and make peace with the Torians who they are allied with. Next turn both Torians and Altarians invade some of my systems and i'm at war again like nothing happened.

I agree somewhat on the lack of character for planets. It's only PQ that counts. In Civ (never played MOO) i used to rename cities in accordance to their characteristics. In Galciv it's just the Skowbo's, Rathra's and Ivey's.

Pffff :) Thanks a lot. I already thought i was missing something quite obvious. Never realised the bonuspack was part of the game, so i never downloaded it. Thanks again. (Off to see what i missed all these games)

I've been asking around in another thread to no avail so i make a new one. I am unable to make anti-matter missiles, the option is just not in the military projects list (after researching Dreadnought tech). Za H advised me to check for a "../Data/AntiMatterMissile.SHIP" file and the file is not there. I did a reinstall from the downloaded file (previous reinstall was from the CD) which didn't change anything. I can't remember ever having had the option of building them. I think if i did

Ummm, sorry for my ignorance, but how do you make antimatter missiles? I'm playing a LOT and i can't understand what i'm missing (especially since noone else is asking this question). Haven't seen an AI use it either.

I had half of the sounds (battles and menuclicks) not working when i first installed Galciv. After patch 1.03 all the sounds (like the intromenu opening) were gone. I reinstalled using the default directorysettings (which i changed the first time i installed, Program Files/Strategy First/Galactic Civilisations) and now i hear everything.

I would like to be able to submit resigned games to the metaverse. Some things that probably have been said here: - Autopiloting ships waking up when an enemyship appears in sensorrange. Especially annoying is when a surveyship starts attacking a dreadnought on its autosurveyroute. - Please make resources stay visible on the map if anyone builds a starbase on it. I use pen and paper to keep track of them now. - A sentry/guard option for constructors would be nice.<b

I also think the war party is overpowered but this thread is a wonderful example of the balance of this game. Lots of preferences. I allways get into wars early because i refuse to make useless stuff to fool the AI. No military units until i can make battlehammers (and even they don't count on the powergraph but at least they're powerful). Although Def Zep, maybe i should try battlecruisers + warparty again. The first time i made battlecruisers (without war party) i thought they were a

I've yet to reach pure good status and believe me i've tried. Is there any other way except for the colonization/random events choices? Several games i've only chosen the 'good' options and i usually end up little over 70. And i agree that alignment specific techs shouldn't be tradable.

"spending half of my play time twiddling with those dreaded sliders that just refuse to stay in place" The sliders DO stay in place (only the numbers change). When i finally realised that, operating them became a lot easier. And i do believe that adding a solid ingame reference should be top priority. Some added annoyances: - I haven't figured out a way to start the ships running if all of them are on autopilot without using end turn. - Ships autopilo

Looking forward to AI improvements. Although i love the game i'm not too impressed with the AI :sniff!: Flame me :) Early on the AI is doing ok but it has problems to make use of its advantage. Usually they go into pointless wars when they feel powerful enough, draining each other until they're not powerful anymore, making peace, build up again, repeat. If they declare war with me i know exactly what to expect. They pick the closest target (city or starbase) and send a steady flow of

Cataleptic (or anyone else who's managed to be pure good), Do you have to be lucky to get to pure good? (In getting enough moral decisions. Pure good is anything above 90 i suppose). I have played several games only taking the goodest options but have yet to reach pure good status.
