DAVISON, Mich. (AP) - Oscar on the shelf or not, Michael Moore is not getting much respect at his old high school. Despite his fame and many honors, the filmmaker has been rejected all four times that he has been nominated for Davison High School's Hall of Fame. "Would you want him as a role model? Would you want your son or

Has anyone encountered a problem with the introduction viode looking washed out (in a gray-ish colour)? I've been having this problem occurring with some other games that also use the AVI file format, as well as in WinAmp. I strongly suspect that either the Video Codec is corrupt, or it's configuration is off. However, I don't know how to really correct this since there isn't really a visible "AVI" driver that I can forcefully remove and re
The description of the speech is correct. It increases your awareness value within the state, and makes people in the state think that either you or your opponent either favours or opposes a specific issue. Speeches merely affect your rating, and have no monetary cost associated with them. Their disadvantage is that it generally takes a lot of time to make such a speech. Consider it to be a ton
I come down heavily on the "unbalanced is good" side. Each race has its strengths (pretty minor in some cases) and drawbacks (pretty major in some cases ). Taking a weaker race is a good way to give yourself a handicap if the game (or the MP opponent) becomes too easy.
Old-timers may remember how Kobolds existed in the red-box edition of D&D. They were extremely weak and were basically fodder to the sleep spell - in fact, kobolds were so weak that they were put to sleep twice
Personally I thought it was a very interesting game. Not perfect, but not all that bad either. I'am suprised it got such a negative press. All that I can think of is that most people who bought it did not understand the difference between "micro" and "macro" management = it wasn't a game for them.
Actually, I bought the game, and I fully understand the difference between "Macro" and "Micro" management. Macro management involves giving general orders (e.g.
Which version? IIRC, this was one of the known exploits that was discovered soon after the game was released when the AI was knowingly accepting a trade where it had to pay 5000 BC per month. It was fixed in one of the early patches.
Question: I heard quite some time ago (well before AP was released) that the basic Galciv wouldn't be updated anymore as its cycle of support has expired. What caused the change in this policy? Normally, I'd keep up with the news, but I haven't been here for quite some time. It looks like that I might start playing again...
Races should not be balanced as this will take the fun out of using their different abilities.
Not true. It is stull possible to make races balanced well enough and still allow having fun through different abilities. Warlords Battlecry III is a fairly good example - each race has their own perks and flaws (e.g. High Elves have a dedicated unit designed to be anti-Dragon but can't collect resources faster from mines), in addiiton to having powerful sp
Can somebody explain to me why you choose "Maybe" and "Probably not" in the poll? "Maybe/Probably not" what? Maybe the price? No, it will be 20 bucks. Maybe if it is worth the 20 bucks? No, because you will only find out if you buy it. Maybe if somebody tells me it is good? No, because this will prove nothing. I would say this poll should have a maximum of 3 answers: YES, NO, DRENGIN MEMBER.
Well, I wouldn't rule out the expansion pack quickly, but I wouldn't automaticall
If you have already settled the planet you can't send another transport to it. At least not that I've seen.
Actually, you can. Transports distribute population evenly among the planets within the system, while colony ships will plop the entire population into one planet.
I particularly liked that very poignant part when the Yor bot heroine says: "01100011 01110010 01100101 01100001 01110100 01101111 01110010 01110011 00100000 01110111 01100101 01110010 01100101 00101110 00100000 00100000 01010100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100110 01100001 01100011 01110100 00101100 00100000 01100001 01101100 01110100 01101000 01101111 01110101 01100111 01101000 00100000"
Oi!
Same here just now, this event is not working right. The Arceans just got this even and they are the 2nd most powerful civilization in the painful/gigantic galaxy. They have been flipping the Tor's planets each turn. They are in NO WAY a waning power!
It may be based on the fact that the civilization isn't the most powerful. It could also mean that other races are growing much faster than the Yor. While there is a chance it is happening to the incorrect civili
Hi all, What's with the odd forum behaviour? When I click on a link to enter a thread with new postings, I get taken to the latest addition. However, when I click the back button, I get set to the top of the forum thread instead of being returned to the thread index. This problem doesn't occurr with Mozilla, but in that browser, the forum doesn't show which postings in the thread are new or not, making it difficult to determine what new information has been posted.
Doesn't Stardock Central support resuming downloads? Failing that, you can look into the most famous download manager: http://www.getright.com/ Although GetRight will resume (and accelerate) downloads, it may have trouble if you don't have a Url to the updated multimedia.
Enter, on the other hand, can make the next turn occur so if you accidentaly hit Enter twice you could end up losing a turn.
I'm willing to take that risk, because I don't rapidly hit enter to close a single dialogue box. Besides, there have been a lot more complaints about the dialogue boxes not closing on enter, as opposed to replies stating that it should remain at the "ESC" key. Perhaps the users are also willing to take the risk - if they don't li
It would still require rerendering the UI, which is a large part of the graphics, and require adding more MB to an already fairly large download for those new UI renderings. Expect an increase of about 10 MB or so for each additional resolution, if on-the-fly rendering isn't used. On-the-fly rendering would slow the game down, and would increase the minimum specs for the came as well, so that may not be a likely possibility. It would probably be enough to render the game nea
Because the other Windows default is to bind Esc to Close and/or Cancel. Almost all Windows dialogs with a 'do nothing' option, or with no options at all, can be closed just as easily with Esc, and that's actually the key I usually use to do so.
Yes, but the Windows default is to bind Enter to the default dialogue button. As a result, GalCiv should support the closing of the dialogue box when pressing Enter. When people see those dialogue boxes, they see
The computer's start will ALMOST ALWAYS be much better.
Of couse it will almost always be much better.
I think there's universal agreement that the Yor are the weakest race.
While I do agree that the Yor may be the weakest race, the developer is inclined to disagree: http://www.galciv.com/play.html In the first example game, the Yor simply crushed him with no mercy. It was a bit smarter than the other players, but not by that much. In the fourth game, the Yor was the leading superpower for the majority of the game. The only reason he survived was becaus
This game is "MOO Lite" and cheats just like they all do and I have played them all.
Cut out the trolling already. Just because the computer player has technologies, ships and bonuses that you don't have does not mean that it is cheating. There are many tactics that rapidly boost the production of an empire including oscillation, heavy taxing, trade boosting, blackmailing, and transport rushing. Just because you fail to use these tactics does not mean that
I'd agree for an option to disable it, but I don't think it's useless. It gives a quick overview on how far your ships can travel across the galaxy, and it is slightly faster to check the range grid instead of clicking on an area to see if it is within range. Also, there are some people that are annoyed with the advisor, as they don't know the keyboard shortcut to close it (requiring them to click on "Done").
As experience levels increase, it receives bonuses to Attack and Defence (which are included in the values displayed.) For the early ships, this is about +1 Att/Def every two levels - more powerful ships get a better bonus. The exact implementation is not known, but there are reports of experementation going around. Currently, it is known that the amount of experience required to gain a level is directly related to the amount of hitpoints a ship has.
After looking at the poll for two seconds, I can already tell that it's missing a "whatever is best" option. Why? On certain games, things look quite large at 640x480 and excessivly small at 1600x1200. In some other games, the mouse glides across the screen at 640x480, while requiring many lifts of the mouse at 1600x1200 in order to reach the desired option. Some games look better in an anti-aliased 640x480 as opposed to regular 1280x960 - I have no idea why, but it usually
