If the problem only occurs while attempting to run Sins and not any other games, i doubt the problem is overheating.
Your probably right, but eliminating overheating as a cause is rather simple. To the OP can you give us your system specs? When your comp reboots, is there an error message? Do your system logs provide any further info?

I would test your comps ram and check the temps to make sure it is not overheating.
To this day I have never understood all the jealously about the moving vasari starbase.
QFT. And as Elrosh said, the Vasari SB has no mass killing ability that the Advent (Meteor Storm) and TEC (Last Resort) have. The ability to move, its debris vortex and shield helps to balance this. All in all, I'm rather content with the balance.

The system should prioritise all attack, incoming attacks and bounty changes to play over all else, so that they aren't skipped. Example; "Planet Development Complete" That's great, except you didn't audibly warn me about the inbound hostiles! *Fires planetary governor....out of a cannon....into the sun.

They surrendered (which will leave their planets & ships). The AI seems to surrender at the drop of a hat in Entrenchment, probably the 'when should I surrender value' is way to high. Currently unresolved.

Every judge who has looked at lawsuits brought over this have thrown them out. They seem to think this is bull. Even the Supreme Court rejected this, TWICE! Are they 'in on it' as well? Sorry, this whole birth certificate BS has been debunked. Obama is the legal POTUS. Deal with it.
I wouldn't miss the "offensive application" of a starbase. Building Starbases in hostile gravity wells and attacking with them seems silly to me. You can build ships to attack with.
Except for the minor fact that the Vasari SB is their anti-structure unit. Besides, the other SBs have wonderful mass killing abilities, it's just the Vasari's mass killing ability is moving.
I think the current AI is just too easily depressed. A major battlefield reversal, and it jumps off a bridge. Maybe if it saw a counselor, and took a few prozac, it could find a way to pull back, make a new plan, regroup its forces, promote a new admiral to lead its fleet, make a new alliance or two, and not wreck the game. Well, I for one support gay marriage. God wiping out Sodom and Gamora? Fairy tales. Satan? Fairy tales. Gay marriage destroying civilization as we know it? Utter lunacy. I usually keep my atheist thoughts to myself. But when some on this thread post their religious dogma as infallable fact, well... it just comes out. Apologies to Zubaz if this post causes unnedded contention in your thread.

Wanna know why Obama won't? Basic rule in a fight, when your enemy is doing something stupid, let him. His mother is an American citizen, yes? Then this whole kookspiracy is a load of garbage. The left sees grassy knolls everywhere, now so it seems, the right... [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]

Just because you don't use IE doesn't mean you shouldn't keep it up-to-date. It's so intergrated into Windows that it is foolish, from a security standpoint, not to keep it updated.
From my observation the AI tends to surrender rather quickly once you have beaten their main fleet. I think this is premature and I hope that they will include a "no AI surrenders" option like the one present in GalCiv 2.
I have seen this as well. In several games the Ai (unfair) surrendered upon the destruction of its main fleet, this despite having more income and planets than me...
I also notice that most warez people seem to have an uncannily bad luck getting Impulse to run even though my 73 year old aunt with her ancient PC had no problem downloading it and getting the program I bought for her yet these same warez people have no problem monkeying around with the latest torrent trackers and P2P software running via Linux.
Probably just another absurd 'rationalization' justifying their stupid behavior. </p

Are any of you running real-time antivirus protection? That can sometimes affect the install process in Impulse. You could try disabling your AV while you install it. (Damn, I hate telling people to disable their security apps to fix things.)
