I get the impression sometimes that stacking can be bad. Pefect example today, I have a combat transport fully loaded in a fleet with a battle hammer. On the way to the invasion, it gets attacked by a damaged drengin dreadnought. Big boom, all three ships blow up. I loaded, unstacked the ships and had them in the same square... but not in a fleet. Drengin attacked, battlehammer and dreadnough both blow up, transport is safe. Seems to me that if I ha

I have the same problem, can't figure out why. I've registered stardock, through the webpage, etc.
Troop transports are probably THE most annoying thing in the game for me. I have yet to EVER wish to load a transport with empty space. I like the auto-launch in general, and if I had it off I'd probably forget which systems have it... So I end up having to re-orbit the ship, which causes the screen to jump to the next ship (and I have to memorize where the planet is) and then manually load.... doing this with a big invasion force is such a pain. They need to change t
differences = distances ;)
IMO, there is almost no point in building missles because they get zapped first. Come on this isn't a big surprise attack... this is ships approaching eachother over enormous differences with everybody reading it on sensors. You'd think the fleet would be smart enough to try and protect the weaker members.
There's a few worthless ones. Stellar Cartography The one that gives you Starhawk (or any obsolete ships)
(forgive me if this has been posted, lots of bugs here) On every single version of the game I've played (initial and all updates) every so often I get a graphics glitch where my ships vanish. It only happens like when I first build a new class for the first time... the ship is there but there is no icon for it on the main screen. Exiting the game and reloading fixes it, but it's annoying.
Stacking is definitely a problem. the ship with the best defensive value should take the first strike, and then so on.... that way AMM missles wouldn't get wiped out first. Also... make it so you could guard a starbase by having a fleet there... I left a stack guarding a vital starbase for awhile, and when war started the first attack bypassed my stack and wiped out the base. Grr.
One of my biggest annoyances is loading ships. Colony ships do it too, but usually transports are even more annoying... why would my planet ASSUME that I only want 1 billion on a Combat transport (I know, happens more when planets have less people... but 9 million is plenty). So I have to dock the ship into orbit, which of course makes the view switch to next ship..... grr
No offense to whoever makes library events, but alot of them are inferior to the originals. Most of the originals were funny and had me making some difficult cost/benefit analyses. Sacrifice 100 people a day for better planet quality, etc. 80% of the ones I've tried aren't funny and aren't tempting from a cost/benefit view. (Hmm, an evil choice for the pleasure of sending Godzilla into enemy territory.... which has NO EFFECT ON GAMEPLAY. Or I can become evil for a +1
My scores are not posting to metaverse. I read some other threads about having to register your stardock account etc. to fix this. I did that. I skimmed another thread about having to change IE's settings... can somebody repeat that? Any other obstacles to posting scores? I've got a couple library events (mostly I'm deleting the ones I download, not as good as originals) but can't think of any other reason. I get the message just find at
Hmm... I wonder if you use say Tidal Disruptors on a planet with a wonder on it... if the wonder gets destroyed can somebody build a new one? I've already learned the hard way that when a minor race gets wiped out, nobody can reinvent their trade goods. I tried to get them to trade near the end, silly Scottlingas grr.
I've had a couple games where I had a somewhat tedious endgame... mostly 'cause I wanted to try out a different victory condition. Currently, I'm in a game where I was dominating. Then came the fundamentalist event, and 1/3 of my empire defected (note to Dev... I was NEUTRAL 40s not EVIL GRR). My military rating went in the tank, suddenly I'm getting requests for tribute. I take back my worlds, take out the weak Drengin. Working on the weak Torians -- when suddenly the Ar
I held off buying GalCiv for a good week because of the reviews about combat. The combat is basic, nobody will argue that. I still finding it as fun as the best Moo2 battle memories. My main complaint is you can't always understand what just happened. i.e. my fleet of 25 ships attack a planet. BAM explosion my fleet it at 24. I click again... it feels like running racecars into eachother or something... I don't always know what the heck happened, what
You don't lose the mods. I have yet to see either myself or the AI make any use of them as weapons. I built a couple but they are way too slow to be effective, and the AIs make such a dash to wipe them out (hmm, Star Wars). The constructor convoy is a neat idea, why didn't I think of that? ---- I may try using them again. I've had a couple games where the AI has ridiculous population and suddenly gets great defensive bonuses...
I've been EXTREMELY disappointed with two games in the past year, Moo3 and Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Moo2 is probably the game I have played more than any other. I took off early from work to buy it on release day, enjoyed the manual fiction... played it a weekend... tried to convince myself it was kind of fun after a few days..... had a little bit of fun playing it... realized it was incredibly buggy and not challenging, and have shelved it hoping for a patch that will make it goo
