I noticed this too. No idea why. I have seen SOME of the 10-16 logos before, but when I was swapping the graphics files I realized that I had never seen quite a few of them. Now that I've swapped graphics files I only ever seem to see unique graphics for Alexians Carinoids Scottlingas I-League I thought maybe I screwed something up, but you're right I think it was always that way.

Random events did wreck a bunch of my games, but I learned to deal with them. I miss them now.
Sure. I figured that's why they took it off the Galciv website... couldn't find it on disputed though despite references to it. I guess Angelina is not copywrighted (no no, don't delete Angie now even if I replaced her with Xev). thanks.
A neat trick I found out: I was facing a 3 way AI alliance. I attacked one of the AIs, took a couple planets, immediately sued for peace. Next turn came, everybody at peace, no allies at war with me. I repeated that technique until I owned the weakest of the alliance. (eventually I screwed up and moved too many ships near 2nd empire, whole alliance went to war but I won) the blitz works.
DMF - Why can't you rename the Drengin to "Chigs" ? I rename them to Kilrathi (along with the Ur-Quan, Draconis Combine, Jedi, Meklar... I'm upset you can't seem to rename minor civs). SAAB was one of my all-time favorite shows. It did have awful timeslots, but you could tell it wasn't going to last... at least it made out the whole season. Would have been nice if they made some follow up movies like Fox does sometimes, but oh well.
It's pretty easy to do. Just do like Elerian says. Google image search for "elerian" or "kirathi" or whatever you want, resize the images to match ones you are replacing, and set palette to 256.
Michael does that trick work for you? I tried it once, gave a dreadnought to the patsy AI, right next to the juicy starbase. AI flew AROUND the starbase towards the enemy homeworlds instead of blowing it up for me. :(
[email protected] is my e-mail. You did a nice job with your pics, I couldn't go back to playing with the minor alien symbols after I resintalled. I did finally a little time to see how it all works, it's pretty easy to resize a 256 color jpg to the same size as the target file. So I have Lexx babe Xenia Seeberg instead of Angelina Jolie now.
I'm not sure which of these affect Orbit or Ground troops, but I have noticed a couple invasions of key enemy worlds where the defense was ridiculously strong. I thought the enemy had some kind of weird tech until the next planet I invaded was a cakewalk.
I've been incredibly impressed with the support Galciv has from the devs since release. It's unlike any other game I've bought, especially that Other Space Game. One of the weirdest things though is the library. It's part of the official website, and after weeks and weeks almost nothing has been approved. One file. Not even the Angelina Jolie graphics mod which shouldn't affect anybody's score.... I realize some of the events require balancing... what Stardock should
Not if the Drengin were invading your rim systems. The people would be screaming for better warships and less holonets. Well, the people in the rim systems would just be screaming.
Higher population = higher tax revunes in the long run, right? More people being taxed? So far I tend to max the tax rate until wartime... Iusually have the trade good anyway. Might have to rethink that.
Does anyone have a link to the Alternate Minor Race pictures? I downloaded it from the library, but it seems to have been removed. Can't seem to find it on disputed territories. Help!
I read somewhere in a thread that all the minors except one (Alexians?) are immune to flipping. There's a button on the interface (I played like 5 games before I knew it was there) that lets you know the exact influence in a sector. That's useful for causing flips. So far on Intelligent it seems the AI isn't quick enough in stopping culture attacks -- I was in danger of losing a system, so I crank out the constructors... next thing I know AI is demanding one of the starbases..
I didn't have any scores post until recently. I had most of the library mods, but I figured out my alias has to be the same name that I'm posting with. Of course now my 3rd game hasn't posted since I figured that out.
The main thing I do is check to make sure my military is rated over 100. It doesn't seem to matter THAT much if you are first second, or third.... over 100 they won't demand tribute. They will declare war sometimes though. Somebody above posted that they try to start a war, that works great too.... one AI is too far ahead, start a war with #2 and their military rating tanks... no more demands.
Elerian, maybe you'd be willing to share your modification???? I'd like that one.
The best proof that the AI isn't rejecting a good trade is that you're trying to make it. You would have been more than happy to give them all that stuff for that resource, right? So the starbase is really more valuable, ain't it? Otherwise why would you want it so bad.
I never could figure out why the Drengin ships are green and not red.
#6 Doctahg You get a message saying when the AI have actually declared a war or made peace? The only messages I get are threatening to go to war and stuff like that, never war and peace itself. Then again I always have spying set to zero.
thongor I might have done the same thing... it never makes a big dent on population, but probably my favorite thing is to take out a fully loaded enemy transport. If I had seen a couple dozen of them passing through my space on the way to wipe somebody out... yeah, I might have considered doing the exact same thing. Start a war, kill them all, sue for peace after maybe.
I forget who wrote the fix it thread, I mean the one where all the research bonuses get fixed (from colonization events).
I think I gave them one turn. Do you get some kind of message from them saying they joined the war?
I sold Diplo Translators to everybody... starting then and for the rest of the game, I had great advantage in negotiations. I got the idea that maybe the AI wouldn't get a bonus trading with me, but I was just speculating.
My key to surviving on intelligent is purchasing trade goods early and selling them to everybody. Techs and goods that I don't want the bad guys to get, I only sell to the minors. It more than pays for the cost, and I get most of the techs that I didn't have time to research 'cause I was making military.
