Staffa that's a great idea you've sort-of suggested. Have event choices at other times, like when you invade... makes sense right? (Note: as conquest message says you "set up a provisional government" I assume there are alien survivors left) You could have choices to enslave the AI or preserve their culture or let them speak the native language, etc. One thing that has crossed my mind is some of the "evil" choices I make that have no effect on alignmen

I'm still thinking the AI surrenders to its closest friend. That would make sense, we would want to surrender to the aliens most like us if necessary probably. My all time favorite surrender was the Arceans. They gave me their last 2 planets because the Drengin were destroying them. I immediately traded those two planets to the Drengin for peace :)

It seems most of the colonization events carry alot more weight than the random events, which would explain why you drop to evil fast and random events barely bring you back. I think I've checked and an evil choice costs about 10 usually at Colonization, good gives you +4. For random you get like +1 for a good choice.

After my very first game of Galciv awhile ago, I was really excited to see a bunch of events in the library here. The default events were good, but there were not that many of them and they repeated... (believe it or not, events are one thing that attracted me to the game) There's a huge problem with ALOT of the events in the library. They are not balanced. I don't mean that they are too good, I mean that they don't present a tough choice. I respect anyone for cr

I noticed that the Venge (#15 I think) always gets their own picture and not default image. Every time they get eliminated I get a message that a "great terrorist threat" was eliminated from the galaxy. I've never gotten the Dread Lords and similar events, maybe the other pics are for that. But it seems like a lot of Minors get the exact same picture now (on a long game, big map).

I completely agree that treaties should have some minimum time limit. Like make the United Planets enforce them for a year at least. As it is now, you can extort ridiculous sums on money from the AIs as you continue wiping them out without any delay whatsoever. (Give me one of your last 2 systems and 1500 B.C....'cause next turn I'm invading).

The first 1.04 patch was the least fun game I had of Galciv. Yes, it was partially because I am used to using Trade Goods to fix a variety of problems (military weakness, AI strength, peace, tech missing, etc). I have to say that I'm playing a game with the latest patch, and it's the most fun one I've played. The balance in the rules seems good. The main thing that seem different is I'm having wars with all sorts of ship classes I never ever built before

Once I calmed down over the trade goods thing (they balanced it anyways) I noticed the same thing, ship classes are much better in the latest release. I built my first Battlecruiser ever. Had my first fleet of frigates since I started. Had a big war with battelships. In the older versions, it was always rush to the Dreads and don't bother with the non-capital ships. I'm not sure how the AI is scoring military strength, but it seems my Defensive ships get better mileage now,

Sounds tough Try building anti-matter missles, good way to make a come back. I had one game where AI totally outclassed me, I researched Excaliburs, leased ONE ship and wiped them all out. Might work if you can last that long. (yes, Exc. is close to tech victory but more fun)

MojoJojoUK I'm wondering about the Yor. I can't remember a game where they were not in pathetic shape and probably the first AI to vanish. (I play with all AIs set at same level, used default alignment for 85% of my games so far). I'm thinking of cranking the Yor AI way above everybody else to see if they can even survive.

Thorkia - I'm having the same bug. Using Terror Star causes crash to desktop. I thought it was maybe part of the fleet bug (I had a fleet with it, and suddenly they started moving ultra fast). Have only tried it with 1 Terror Star on 2 different planets, but you saying you had the same problem does not bode well.

I am yet another person upset at Trade Goods being nerfed. Their name itself is now ironic, they are basically for your own use and never worth trading. Maybe the AI plays by the "same rules" that we do. However, the AI (Drengin esp) seems to know exactly how much they can extort from every AI and how often... causing an AI to always be leading early on. Trade goods were the one balancer... I could get AIs to fight among themselves, declare peace, etc... I

Problem I had is the Metaverse won't take an alias. I can't figure out how to change my Alias (thought I had done it) and if I don't post as this name it won't post. Like you probably have to use Wampyre as your alias.

My Moo2 strategy was generally stay out of early wars and avoid military spending, expand, come back with high tech armada. I tried that with Galciv.... the AIs were demanding large chunks of cash for my military weakness and then blowing me up. Totally takes a new way of thinking. There are quite a few situations that I have to figure my way out of (i.e. Drengin are at war with me, can sell trade goods for attack treaties, wear them down...etc).... the figuring it out is neat

The AI already does not make good use of the 2 expansion ships, the Anti Matter Missle and the Excaliber. I've seen the AI build AMMs, but never use them effectively (which is good, AMM is usually how I win wars). I've stolen Exc. tech and built ONE ship, which I then use to wipe out the entire AI fleet.... they are still churning out Overlords. I've seen the AI try to build terror stars once or twice... never seen one completed, never seen the AI use one.

Overall I think the AI is fantastic. It's got a few shortcomings, the biggest one seems to be Diplomacy. You can sue an ally for peace every round and they'll declare war the next round. There's no consequence whatsoever to breaking a peace treaty (Moo's Cease Fire option would be good, diplo penalties for invading on round 1 of peacetime).
