Stats say what you tell them to say. What I see is that Apolyton has the most Maso players in your stats :).

Nethack :) ... I never managed to get my hands on the real amulet. Though I did reach the bottom, I got killed by my pet troll while helpless... I'm still trying, though. More on-topic: The lack of map editor and separate mods strongly limit the game replayability. The expansion should provide some more hours of interesting gameplay, but I don't expect it to last as much as civ2 or moo last.
I have the same problems and nothing seems to fix it.
Each turn would need to be completed in X minutes. The participants should be given the option to decide how long that is when starting the game.
Probably the best option for turn based, yes. Agree on starting time + time per turn, or fixed max time per turn and simultaneous turns. Hosting the game on a machine (server being the player's machine or the metaverse) is a good idea, but... Personnally, the only MP I am interested in is hotseat.
(Somehow those counters seemed to work little funny. We had one crash during '91, had to reload, and that seemed to reset them again.
Yes. You can abuse that if you like, but culture accumulates over time. So for instance, at turn 0 (load game), your culture is computed and will never extend beyond 1 sector of your own stars. After 1 turn, culture will stretch one more sector, generating positive feedback on your own sector. This means that saving and then reloading can stop a
I'm happy there'll be more space sharks. Not seen one in ages. I miss the beasties. And I feel like I'll love the shark eggs I'll find in Drengin sectors :D. I think there should be more events, I like get the nice 'let's give techs to everyone who's fallen behind' event when I've fallen behind in maso and the other races teach me how to build battledhips, dreads and avatars. An event frequency slider would be most welcome.

On what level of difficulty are you playing? I already gave hundreds of BC and tech to the Torians on maso (with at least + 50% diplo) without their changing attitude a bit.
I have already seen that behaviour and reported it. Mildly annoying.
Ah, I fondly remember the days of Master of Orion... the aliens would send five fleets ,each containing 32000 ships, to your planets... and the satisfaction of designing and building a ship that could effectively despatch them... 8500 v 160000? no probs!
I'd usually just have 6 ships, each with a blackhole generator or warp dissipator and of different designs, that you could happily send to attack the 32000. You lost 3 black hole ships and paralyzed the remaining 10000 s
What's the net result of this strategy on the morale of the planets? My concern is mostly morale, so I'd rather have all planets with the same morale. Putting lots of pop on a PQ15 to have it produce money is not good IMHO since that'd just lower my morale on the planet and the pop would probably produce the same money if it was sent on a PQ19, while keeping good morale.
You race to the "best-bang-for-the-buck" model and use it exclusively until the next "best-ship" is available, true? (This btw is how I feel the ships play out...)
That looks like what the ai does, anyway. And the new ship techs provide such a boost over the previous tech that on harder levels, you can't fight effectively against an ai that has a better tech than you, unless you use speed and target their planets and transports. I never use corvettes because it is a dead e
Ray, if you want to see the scoring changes, I suggest you retrieve a 1.05 save and try to laod it in 1.09. This is more likely to work than the opposite (though still rather unlikely).
Cari, When you say 'random', do you mean I have a chance of getting it through if I change something slightly (like a different pop number on a planet or something) or by resubmitting stubbornly?
Blowing up a good planet is a real waste.
Why don't you blow a useless one? Pick a PQ1 star somewhere and blow it, then threaten the Torians that you'll do the same to them if they don't surrender: "My words are backed with death stars!"
KitWarrior, try building a useless building to make sure they mirror your queue. Something like an orbital hospital. Or put a really silly list into Mr Ford's queue, and use another governor for all your planets. If the ai mimics Mr Ford, they will suffer. ;p
I never built a corvette ever. Battleships arebetter than frigates in my experience, but not worth building because dreadnoughts are so much better.
25% total geek. I'm afraid my marriage ruined my geekish potential, though. I could still be playing RPGs and watch TV.
Did anyone create a party that's worth losing the elections with? Like have a set of bonuses when you pick it, and another one when you lose control of the senate? That'd be cheesy, but if you do that to all parties, you could decide to raise the taxes just the day before the election so that the opposition gets to power, and provides another set of bonuses, then lower the taxes again. That would always be risky, since you can lose a world to the ILeague.
PQ limits the population, but nothing prevents you from downloading a plethora of colony ships on a single world. They'll probably have a morale of 1 anyway. 100 billion doesn't look so huge. If the whole surface of the planet can be used (like it's arid as Mars or you can settle oceans), it gives a lot of room. Currently, half of Earth population lies in 2 countries (China and India). If the Americas were as densely populated, you'd have a population of more than 10 billion. Then settle Af
I think Ray reported that it has been fixed. It's really a bug that should get rid of, or they should allow terror stars to get speed bonuses as regular ships do.
I tried a 60% influence (other picks in diplomacty) game: medium/common. I was being killed by the Torians, which is a real shame. I had a system with one of my stars and a Drengin system in it. The Drengins built their political capital there (which was quite clever). I was so backward in science that I couldn't compete. The sector remained mine, I built the Restaurant, but the Arceans would have crushed me hadn't I paid them a fortune, and then the Torians decided to wipe me and I coul
To get big production you can: -have a good PQ to start with, -build all the plants social improvements, -put spending on 100%, -have a lot of population on the planet (small effect wrt PQ) -choose the industrialist party which adds another 20% prod, -take + Prod picks, -get the techs which add to production, -hope for an event that said "do you want slaves for + 49% prod, -build production enhancing starbases. Minors can do any of these. I don't kno
I'm still playing 1.05 and regularly axe buildings like all the expensive evil flipping resistance buildings that I never build.
I submitted my last game (maso submitted on 1st august, retried on staurday and/or sunday) and it said successfully submitted, but the game doesn't show in metaverse. Since it was 10000 pts, I'm a bit pissed off. I don't think I got any special library event, and, if it was the case, the game shouldn't say 'game successfully submitted'. Now that I checked, I see only one of my 2 maso tiny wins in 1.05.
