Kenwas, Suppose China called up and said, we are letting you slide on the loans. There is no need to pay them back. In your wildest dreams!!! [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] Would we not just end up where we are because we don't make anything worth buying? All we had was housing and we know what happened there.
Kenwas, are you saying that as 'Taxpayers', the 'Bankers' of our Government, we don't have the right to foreclose or call in the loans because the collatoral for the loans has lost value? Just asking.
I am saying that when the Treasury buys the same bonds that it issues itself by just printing money to pay for them, we are either going to dramatically decrease the value of the dollar or dramtaically raise inflation or both. All the borrowing will h
Whatever your viewpoint now, we will all have to stand together when the bill comes due and it is time to pay the piper!
INTERESTING HISTORY LESSON Railroad tracks. This is fascinating. The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used? Because that's the way they built them in England , and English expatriates built the US railroads.
Congrats!
Greetings Seth and thanks for the smiles!
Happy Birthday to you!
Congrats to all!
The site not working at all, and some parts broken are two different things.
Indeed. Well, I've said my piece and certainly do not wish to belabor the point and get into a pissing match about the meaning of broken. Wishing everyone a great week!
I am here for few days and to the best of my memory I was online at the last weekend. I never felt that it was merely a bit slow. It was just as the other days I visited.
Might have to do with the areas you visit. I have no issues with speed in the forums. In any case, glad it is all good for you!
As the the bandwidth issue, it is becoming more and more normal to wait for page draws that may or may not happen before time to break for lunch. An exaggeration? Of course! Trying make a point. It is not my vendor either. I deal with many heavy traffic, heavy graphic content sites and WC has become the most trouble some of the lot. I only say any of this because I do give a shit about the site and the community as do many others who have contributed to thi
I check on the site regularly throughout the weekend, and it's been working throughout the past month.
Not for me. The libraies sub categories were out of sync for quite a while. That is fixed and the only part still broken is that the personal daily download pages haven't totalled for the same period and still don't. Trust me if you will, it is not my caches. Is it the endo f the world? Of course not, but little irritations mount and over time,
It's not actually 'always'....however it's more likely to be apparent on a weekend as Stardock still pretends valiantly to be a 9 to 5, Monday to Friday affair..
The internet is a 24/7 world. How about a staggered work week, still 40 hrs but some with a Wed to Monday week? Many companies function this way to provide good customer service. A passive position is certainly better than frustration for one's state of being. Every now and then though, it becomes frustrating to remain passive! (heheheheheheh), especially in a catch 22 situation.
There has always been the problem with this site that visitors far outweigh subscribers. There have been calls for ways to get more people to subscribe, but as of yet, no-one has come up with a solution. Without an influx of cash the site will continue to decay. It's like everything else - you get what you pay for.
Yep, we have been in this conversation for many years haven't we Fuzzy. Oh well, to everything there is a season.
things look brighter for ther future, I mean it can't get any worse.....could it?????
That is why I started this post...if the current condition of things becomes the accepted norm, than of course it can get worse.
Indeed!
I wonder if it's really "broken" or if bandwidth is being reassigned?
That would go under "not enough members to make it worth their while to keep it running in top form" Could be, I haven't a clue as to what they are up to these days. I just see the result.
Months? It's been busted for years
I was trying to let bygones be bygones and just deal with current history although it does seem like a neverending story as you point out Fuzzy. Let's just call it "more Busted" recently then! [e digicons]:D[/e]
Hi Doc and Philly....there is nothing we can do but at least let it be known that it is very noticeable and not appreciated. If there are not enough members to make it worth their while to keep it running in top form, than so be it and we can all just hang in there until it becomes simply not worth it on this end as well. But, at least, I think it is important to call attention to the situation and let the chips fall where they may. I have worked with both Jafo and I
