Yeah, I too hope they tweak the Terror Star in the future to make its presentation a little more... kapow :) I just built my first two Terror Stars and eradicated my enemies by destroying all their star systems... kind of a waste of resources, but they just would not cooperate. ~SDC~

I'm curious to know what other GalCiv players use as their custom mp3 playlists. Myself, I currently have the following film soundtracks running: Star Trek II Star Trek III First Contact Battle Beyond the Stars Aliens I find this makes the game experience much more fun. :) What's in your playlist? ~SDC~
Best RTS I ever played would have to be Starcraft. Best TBS game would have to be Alpha Centauri. But I still love GalCiv, of course :) ~SDC~
I think they use this interface because they're trying to encourage people to use the Stardock Central software to follow discussions? ~SDC~
Heh, with all the pointless flaming that goes on there, I wouldn't blame them if they just shut the whole affair down permanently. :) ~SDC~
Designing your own ships would be a nice touch, I always enjoyed that in other games. I would like to see the combat in GalCiv be a little more in-depth (not much), and a little less "cute." Right now when a ship goes in to battle it just runs into the other ship and goes "pyewwww!" and disappears with a squeaky little noise and a cutesy animation. IMHO it doesn't really lend to that "epic" feel the developers were going for. I'd like to see combat just a wee bit more gritty.
I think it's great that a game is this easily modded, and that just about anyone can do it without a lot of technical knowledge. The only drawback is that I've seen a few mods that are technically sloppy, with graphics that don't fit the screen or substandard write-ups. But overall my experience with downloading mods has been very good. ~SDC~
I've found giving the manual a glance before starting the game is very helpful in situations like these. ~SDC~
When you win the game, it should give you an option to submit your score to Metaverse. Hit the big ol'button marked "submit." :) ~SDC~
Amazon star ratings are fairly meaningless, and the reviews barely any better. Most people who rate stuff at Amazon know only two ratings: 1 star (worst thing ever) or 5 stars (best thing ever). Not only that, but you'll frequently see, especially with video games, users giving 5 stars or 1 star and a rave / flame to a game that won't be out for months. "I haven't played this, but it's going to ROCK / SUCK!" Not to mention the hordes of people who lay in wait to give tons of negative "helpful" p
I understand it was just a simple question, I was just saying that it probably got misinterpreted as a complaint by many, and that's why they all jumped on you. Like I say, tempers run high over there. ~SDC~
I really like the ideas behind some of your political parties, but if I may make a polite suggestion, maybe you could consider checking your spelling and punctuation. Seeing a party description riddled with spelling and grammar errors makes it look sloppy and half-finished, and makes me wary of trusting that party to run my government. :) That and maybe don't make it so hard on the Activists. "Your party totally sucks" doesn't seem like it's really meant to inspire one to use that party
Well, the MOO3 discussion boards are quite the haven for flamers and other unpleasant types. Discussion there turns bad quickly and easily. However, I will say that the data patch was a simple matter of copying a couple of files into a directory, and the zip file, IIRC, came with a readme file that explained how to do this quick and simple procedure. So, the reason there was not an install is most likely because the patch was such a simple affair that there didn't need to be
You put the file in the /Data/ directory of your Galactic Civilizations folder. The new political parties will show up next time you run the game. ~SDC~
Hi there -- I am a new player with a simple question about invading enemy planets. I'm able to build transports, but I'm not certain how to load soldiers onto them, or what I have to do to build soldiers... do they need to be built as a military project, or do I take soldiers from the general population... and if the latter, how? Any help would be appreciated... thanks. ~SDC~
